Cleopatra Luxury Resort Makadi Bay

I spent 5 nights at Cleopatra Luxury Resort, Makadi Bay, Hurghada in early February 2026 with family and friends for my 70th birthday. I was spoilt by the hotel management and staff. The manager Moustafa Zidan was actively involved in preparations prior to our arrival and handed things over to his front desk team manager, Hossam, as he was away on holiday. Hossam and his team did a splendid job looking after us. The catering manager, Wagin, and his team were also excellent. Everything I needed and wanted was supplied in abundance by an incredibly friendly and helpful wraparound team. Everyone in the group said they had a great time and would happily spend time there again.

It was my 5th time at this hotel: As always: Clean Rooms, friendly staff, food: very tasty, Kid´s club: Super !! (Thank´s to Lena!) , a nice castle in one of the swimmpools for the kids zu explore. Lot´s of bars. Not far away from the airport. And the best: The have a landing stage ideal for snorkeling: in the open AND - for the less experienced - before the riff.

Travelled with 25 persons to resort for a 70th birthday celebrations. The manager was in regular contact with arrangements prior to our arrival. He had arranged photographer, DJ and videographer ahead. On arrival Hossam and front desk team made check in so easy. Rooms nd beds were so comfortable and clean. Buffet were widespread and mouthwatering to cater for all with friendly staff. Hossam arranged decoration of celebrant's room twice at no expense. Waghi and his catering team did an excellent job with decorating the restaurant that was allowed for our use exclusively. The menu was a feast to our eyes and stomach. The staff made it all so special beyond words. A huge thank you to Hossam and Waghi with their teams. We shall be back to enjoy and rest very soon. 👏👏👏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏

Our stay at the Cleopatra Luxury Resort Makadi Bay from February 2nd to 11th, 2026 was very pleasant and enjoyable. The food and drinks were excellent. All the staff were consistently friendly and very helpful. We also enjoyed our photo shoot. It would be nice to be able to select the photos we wanted via the in-house TV. We think it would be more relaxing, and it's certainly technically feasible. We'll be back. Thanks again to everyone. Best regards, Larisa & Hauke

To start positively, the hotel is huge and the facilities - pools, beach, games, rooms - were fabulous, so no complaints there. But all aspects of the catering were so sub-standard that it really ruined the stay for us. A lot of the buffet dishes, especially meat wise, ranged from peculiar to inedible - grey coloured chicken, boiled beef, unidentifiable kebabs. The restaurant is very tired, unwelcoming and resembles a generic food court from a shopping centre in Maidstone or something. But even worse, one of the nights we arrived at 9 and the waiters actively rolled their eyes at us and repeatedly told us we only had 20 minutes , then proceeded to repeatedly interrupt us to inform how many minutes we had left, swiping plates from the table we hadn’t even finished with. Not exactly 4 star service, let alone 5. The bars as well are shabby with very little on offer, meaning we got extremely bored of our plastic cup beers and mojitos with soggy black mint leaves rather quickly. It got so bad that we tried room service one night but that wasn’t any good either (bland pasta with hardly anything in the sauce). Our friends who tried the Italian & fish restaurants reported these were also abysmal. We ended up feeling very embarrassed that we had nominated the hotel for a meet up with our friends in the first place, as we all ended up fretting about where and what to eat. We even ventured out to Hurghada marina for dinner one night but it was an hour taxi ride there and back. I say all this as someone who really isn’t fussy and we did go on to have excellent food elsewhere in Egypt (Luxor & Aswan). Such a shame and honestly, we felt a bit scammed by this hotel in the end - it is definitely nowhere near 5 star, possibly not even 4 star.
