Pickalbatros White Beach Resort

I stayed for 11 nights, upgraded the room to a suite on arrival, this was well worth the money and a lot cheaper than pre booking it through TUI. The staff are all fantastic, they literally cannot do enough for you, all so friendly and polite. Total credit to the hotel! The food is nice and more than edible but sorry its not 5 star but you wont go hungry. Drinks are the let down unfortunately, only 1 type of wine / beer and the cocktails are awful and all spirits are local brands. Soft drinks / tea and coffee were all very good. The hotel is spotless and staff work hard to keep it that way. As stated in previous reviews the people selling trips are relentless and constantly bother you however you can pick up a 'do not disturb' flag at the towel collection point and this totally solves the issue. The spa on site is very good if a little on the expensive side however the benefit is it is a safe environment and totally convenient. There are plenty of sunbeds so no requirement to try and reserve them early as there are always loads available, loads of parasols and shaded areas to get out of the sun if needed and the grounds of the hotel are superb. There is a heated and non heated pool and 2 large kids pools which are all well maintained and very clean. There is very little to do within walking distance from the hotel but this seems to be normal for the area and not a criticism of the hotel. Overall I would recommend the hotel, the staff are go above and beyond to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

I’ve recently stayed solo at this hotel. I was rather apprehensive travelling on my own but I really shouldn’t have been! The staff are all fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is massive but extremely easy to navigate. It’s very geared up for children especially from toddler age. There are 3 childrens pools, parks and endless activities for them. As I was solo i didnt try all restaurant’s however the ones i did had a good selection, was hot and tasty. The hotel and rooms are kept spotless

We had a very pleasant stay at the Pickalbatros White Beach Hotel and overall we really enjoyed the property. The hotel is very large, well designed and especially well suited for families. The pools, children’s play areas and various facilities are clearly made so that both kids and adults can enjoy themselves and have a great time. A special mention goes to the animation team, who were fantastic. They are very dedicated, always smiling and clearly love what they do. They greet guests every day, joke with the children and create a really fun and friendly atmosphere. For families with kids, this really makes a big difference. The restaurant staff also deserve recognition. Most of the waiters were very friendly, attentive and smiling, which made the dining experience very pleasant. However, in our opinion, what makes the difference between a very good hotel and a truly excellent one is also the quality of the staff, and the rooms. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but they would benefit from some refreshing. Some elements are starting to look a bit worn, which can be seen in the photos we attached. Regarding the food, the quality is good, but we felt that there could be more variety. Another point that surprised us was that many activities and even some evening shows are mainly in German. That said, the evening shows and entertainment were still very enjoyable. We also noticed that some members of the staff were not very welcoming, particularly at the reception. This was a bit surprising because reception is the face of the hotel and the very first impression guests have when they arrive. A warmer welcome would certainly improve the overall guest experience. At the White Beach pool area, the person responsible for distributing the towels (Hassan) unfortunately came across as very cold and unfriendly. He did not respond to our “hello” or even to our “thank you,” which felt quite uncomfortable. On the other hand, several members of the housekeeping team were extremely kind, smiling and very friendly, which we really appreciated. Since this was our first time in Hurghada, we cannot really compare with other hotels there. However, we previously stayed at the Steigenberger in Cairo, where every member of the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Despite these few points that could be improved, we still had a very nice stay and the hotel remains a great option for family holidays. 🌴

I visited this hotel for 4 nights with two friends on a relatively last minute break. The hotel looks stunning in the photos and we had high expectations and although we enjoyed our time there but it was also disappointing in may aspects. The hotel itself and the rooms are large, very well maintained and spotlessly clean so can't fault a thing there. The beach area is lovely - however there is a strange rule re reserving sunbeds which everyone expects there to be a rule on this I think in hotels, but it wasn't clear and you had to be physically on your sunbed bang on 9am or your items could be removed (which we witnessed when some poor occupants were literally just in front of thier beds in the sea so not exactly leaving them reserved as it were but just genuinely gone for a dip). The facilities for younger children (I would say 10 and under are incredible with so many water playgrounds, daily activities and games so looks incredibly good for young families. Evening entertainment I think would also suit more the younger audience than it did adults and it was a bit dreary. Also distinct lack of for example a piano player or background vocalist in the lobby bar of an evening or down on the pool bar terrace maybe. The atmosphere of an evening was dead basically. Food was good quality for what was there, very little choice and the buffet areas spread out over a huge area so getting say some butter to go with your toast meant a long trek. Drinks are awful - one draft beer (and its horrible) and Stella in a bottle, no Prosecco, boxed wine so just one choice of rose, white or red and the rose often tasted soapy. Very limited cocktails and the majority aren't even a cocktail per se but a simple spirit with a mixer drink in reality. Millenuim Bar does do a nice mojito but a nice cocktail bar would be a great addition with a range of cocktails. You can ask but all you get told is "menu only". I can see why it gets a TUI five star as it ticks boxes on paper - yes there is beach waiter service but reality is they are serving terrible drinks, yes there is evening entertainment buts it amateur and limited etc. Vey chilly of an evening - freezing in fact in February but not a complaint and we went knowing this of course so just as advise to pack warm clothing to anyone going at this time of year.

As British non smokers with a young children the priority areas given to smoking was not for us. We are used to a non smoking culture where smokers are the ones who have to go elsewhere. Smoking is everywhere - ash trays poolside and on all outdoor tables - even all the balconies welcome smokers so if you want to go on your balcony prey you are not next to smokers each side otherwise the smell will be in your room. There is one tiny non smoking section for food (about 4 tables) but they are in the front - exposed to the wind/sun/cold - smokers were either side of you and you have to walk through all the smokers to get your food - they are all situated by the doors so the smell goes inside the restaurant. The beach restaurant is undercover but still smoking permitted and encouraged with ashtrays on every table - I couldn't stick it! As a result - it attracts all smokers too - especially a lot of Eastern European. If you want to attract British families then you need to alter this. Luckily our waiter Mahoud Asir did save our holiday with his service (Millennium bar man also amazing). Other things I didn't like - one set of slides out of action for 1/2 the holiday. The entertainment was poor and completely outdoors which I didn't realise so also freezing and surrounded by smokers. Our room was a bit dated and really noisy - situated near the lifts and ramps that were used by the cleaning men every morning at 7am! We were also opposite the entertainment area that was very loud until 10pm (wouldn't have been so bad if the cleaning trollies weren't waking us up at 7am). The wine was very poor and alcohol choices disappointing (but on the plus I do now love a Gin and Tonic). Things I liked - public areas and grounds are fantastic and spotless! We have a new love of pingpong and darts which was lovely to do as a family. The beach is amazing and the water crystal clear - not the best snorkelling though as there is very little to see. The temperature of the heated pool was good - the bed sunloungers were excellent.
