Don’t Ignore the Negative Reviews I almost didn’t write this review because there are many things this hotel gets right. The architecture is stunning. The gardens are immaculate. The branding is exceptional. In fact, it’s probably one of the most beautifully marketed hotels I’ve ever come across. I found it almost by accident while looking for somewhere to completely switch off. Every video spoke about relaxing, restoring and reviving. The imagery portrayed an elegant, tranquil escape that felt almost exclusive, and at around $900 for three nights, bed and breakfast, the price also sets the expectation that this is a luxury experience where service matches the surroundings. I did read the reviews before booking. There were recurring comments about poor pool service, indifferent reception staff and disappointing service levels. But, if I’m honest, I ignored them. I wanted them to be wrong because the website was so convincing. Unfortunately, many of those reviews turned out to be exactly what I experienced. On my very first afternoon I spent almost two hours by the swimming pool without seeing a single server come around. In July, with temperatures well over 35°C, something as basic as getting a bottle of water became surprisingly difficult. I eventually went to reception because I was also struggling with the constant noise from my room overlooking the main pool. I explained that I had booked the hotel specifically to relax, but between the lack of pool service and the noise, I was genuinely considering checking out early, despite having booked three nights. The response surprised me. I was simply told, “That’s fine. You’re welcome to check out.” There was no attempt to understand why I was unhappy, no apology, no offer to move my room and no suggestion of any solution. For a hotel positioning itself as a luxury retreat, that was perhaps the most disappointing moment of my stay. Later that day I happened to receive a WhatsApp message from a member of the Guest Relations team, who was sending guests the daily programme. We had a friendly conversation, and she explained that the hotel was operating at around 98% occupancy. As someone who owns a hospitality business myself, I completely understand that peak season creates additional pressure. However, my view is quite simple: when occupancy increases, staffing should increase too. July isn’t an unexpected surprise—it’s peak season. If a hotel is charging luxury prices, then the service should remain at a luxury standard, even when it’s busy. Initially, I convinced myself that perhaps I’d simply had an unlucky first day. Sadly, the following morning proved otherwise. I arrived at the pool at around 9:00 am, expecting to settle in early, only to discover there wasn’t a single available sun lounger. Guests had placed towels on beds before going to breakfast, effectively reserving them long before they were actually using them. Again, I raised the issue with Guest Relations. I was told the hotel has a policy whereby towels left unattended for more than 30 minutes are removed by the pool staff. That’s an excellent policy. The problem was that nobody appeared to be enforcing it. Policies only work when they’re actually carried out. The food was another surprise. Online reviews generally seemed positive, so perhaps I was simply unlucky, but my experience in the Japanese restaurant certainly didn’t reflect what I’d expect from a hotel charging around $300 per night. I ordered the beef salad and asked if the beef could be cooked medium. I was told it was pre-cooked and served cold. The dumplings were exceptionally thick and disappointing. Again, it simply didn’t feel like the level of dining I expected from a luxury property. I do want to acknowledge that this hotel is primarily a family resort, and during July it was naturally full of families enjoying their holidays. The children weren’t the problem. The problem, for me, was the contrast between the hotel’s marketing and the actual experience. When your website promises tranquillity, restoration and peaceful luxury, guests inevitably arrive expecting exactly that. If your busiest months are vibrant family holidays with very busy pool areas, then I think those expectations should be managed more honestly. So, if there’s one piece of advice I’d give anyone considering booking this hotel, it’s this: Don’t ignore the negative reviews. I did. Like many travellers, I found myself brushing aside the recurring criticisms because I wanted the hotel to be as wonderful as its website made it appear. In hindsight, that was my mistake. That doesn’t mean everyone will have the same experience I did. Many guests clearly have a wonderful holiday here. But when the same criticisms appear repeatedly over many months—from pool service, to reception, to operational issues—don’t dismiss them simply because the marketing is beautiful. Sometimes the people leaving the less glowing reviews aren’t simply being negative. They’re trying to tell future guests something worth listening to
An absolute paradise—exceptional service from the moment we arrived! I cannot put into words how wonderful our stay at Serry Beach Resort was. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we felt a level of care and warmth we have truly never experienced anywhere else before. The resort itself is exceptionally unique, stylish, spotlessly clean, and meticulously maintained. The architecture and design are breathtaking—it genuinely feels like stepping into a paradise. What truly sets Serry apart, however, is the extraordinary team. Every single staff member goes above and beyond, but a few individuals made our stay unforgettable: Mr. Mohamed Elshazly at the Reception: Extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Whether it was a big request or a small detail, he instantly found solutions—even helping us seamlessly organize our trips outside the hotel. Mustafa and the Dar Area Team: Sitting in the Dar area in the evenings was always a highlight. Mustafa and his team treated us like VIP guests every single night, making those evenings feel so special. The Main Restaurant Team: Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The food servers were amazing, and they took extra care to prepare our custom salads with perfection every single time. The Hotel General Manager, Mr. Amir: It was wonderful to see him walking around the property every day, personally checking on things, listening to guests, and taking the time to come over, greet us, and make us feel valued. Constructive Feedback: The only negative point during our stay was the evening entertainment at Nas Cabaret. Unfortunately, the program repeated every single day without changes, which made it feel a bit boring toward the end of our trip. Refreshing the evening schedule with more variety would make the experience an absolute 10/10. Thank you to everyone at Serry Beach Resort for giving us memories we will cherish forever. We cannot wait to return!
I want say big thanky you to Mastercook Mustafa Mohamed for nice vegeterian coocking. Mustafa you are the best chef polite, warm, human Man so kind wonderful.I absolutly liked you dishes. Thank you for you cared during my stay. Everything was delicious. Also You should stay general manager! Thank you so much for me and From My husband-Isabel
We had the best time in Serry. We came to the beach, and Mohamed Khalaf and Ahmed Hamdi was so friendly and amazing, his smile made us smile! We couldn’t recommend enough. Exceptional.
This is definitely one of the worst all inclusives I’ve ever been to. One of the prettiest- but worst in terms of service and overall experience. For one there is no bar for you to go up to. So you won’t be able to get a drink if you want - you’re at the behest of someone coming up to you and asking. Then you will wait about 40 minutes for your drink to arrive. No premium spirits. Multiple waiters were slimey and suggestive to my 15 year old daughter. Food looks good on social media but reality is a lot of their stuff is recycled throughout the day. Some of the staff look at you with utter contempt - especially the ones serving behind the hot plates. There’s some nice staff by the pool and there was a lovely gent at the late night restaurant. 3 out of 4 of us were violently sick and I nearly was hospitalised on return to the UK. The pool was falling apart and the lining was peeling off. The beach is man made and muddy, with concrete underneath. It’s not very nice. Wear shoes. The rooftop restaurant has good food, but problem is all but one of the restaurants are open air so it’s boiling and you get eaten alive by sand flies. Lots of instagram influencers clearly getting paid to write favourable and film reviews. Do not go there, not if you value your health. It’s very beautiful to look at but the substance behind it is lacking. We spent £5k for one week and honestly I wish we’d went to somewhere that had proper bars and service. And where I didn’t need to take 1 week off work on return because I was sick as a dog, absolutely appalling. We met another family that was appalled at the lack of a bar and place where you could go up and get drinks. They were stuck there for two weeks!
