Extremely disappointing experience – 11 out of 13 of our group became ill We stayed at Sindbad Club as a family group of 13 and, unfortunately, this was not the holiday we had been looking forward to. Around day three of our holiday, members of our group began developing severe gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhoea, severe stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever and chills. By the end of the holiday, 11 out of the 13 people in our group had become ill, with several of us still suffering after returning home to the UK. I personally became so unwell that I was unable to eat properly for two days and, even after returning home, I required a GP appointment, blood tests, stool samples and prescription medication. My husband has also required medical investigations, and several other members of our group have sought medical advice due to ongoing symptoms. We raised our concerns with Guest Relations and also spoke with the Head Chef while we were at the hotel. Our concerns were dismissed as being caused by "the weather", despite the number of people affected in our group. Also ALOT of other people who we spoke to experiencing the same as us. We also had serious concerns regarding hygiene. We repeatedly saw birds flying into the restaurant, landing on uncovered food and pecking at it. During busy meal times, serving utensils were not always changed as frequently as we would have expected. We also did not see the quiet pool being cleaned once during our entire stay, despite using that area every day from 6:30am. The food was, in our opinion, extremely poor. There was very little variety, and the quality was disappointing. The only two people in our group who did not become ill were the two who mainly ate plain pasta, chips and chicken nuggets throughout the holiday. I cannot say this is the reason they remained well, but it was a noticeable difference within our group. The restaurant itself was extremely busy, making meal times stressful, and as a large family it was almost impossible for all 13 of us to sit together, its like a cattle market. No where near big enough for the amount of guests. The standout part of the holiday was the animation team, especially Atef, who was absolutely fantastic. He worked tirelessly every day, was friendly, welcoming and brilliant with both adults and children. He is a real credit to the hotel and deserves recognition for the effort he puts into making guests enjoy their holiday. Since returning home, we have also found numerous public posts from other guests reporting similar gastrointestinal illnesses and raising concerns about hygiene during their stays. While I appreciate every case is different, reading these accounts has been very concerning. Management urgently need to take these concerns seriously. We cannot say what caused our illness, and our medical investigations are still ongoing, but when so many unrelated guests report becoming unwell, it should prompt a thorough investigation into hygiene practices and food safety. Dismissing concerns as simply "the weather" is not an adequate response. Sadly, this was a holiday that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. We would not return and our group of 13 - 15 people have stopped in many different places over the years with 6 of us stopping in Egypt last year.
Whole experience was good, staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, housekeeping staff decorated the room & left new bottles of water every day. Entertainment was exceptional, Atef from the entertainment staff was great, looked after us the whole time and helped us to enjoy our time here, always had a smile on his face and made us laugh. I highly recommend Amon Spa as the experience we had there was great, a great selection of massages & the staff were great, Shika was very very helpful with recommendations on what massage to do & was very funny. Highly recommend.
The most wonderful experience!!! The entire staff was friendly, the food was delicious and flavorful, there were pools for all ages, and the beach... a fairytale setting.
Honest review as family of 7. Parents, 4, 6,6,16&16 year olds. X2 Rooms, 2 floors and 1/2 a mile away from each other regardless of emails prior to arrival requesting close enough. Staff at front desk uninterested. Say they try to help although help those who can speak the language first and offer leftovers that are unsuitable. 3 toilets for female and males to cover 3 pool areas, 3 slide areas and a restaurant. Not great when “Egyptian belly” is amongst half of customers. No toilets near children’s pool at other side. In main building 3 toilets again covering 3 restaurants, library, lobby area with bar and reception. Ques always! Most staff friendly although a lot dismissive and rude towards females, yes may be culture but not what you pay for. Italian restaurant pizzas, garlic breads with herds and cheese and pastas completely tasteless, baffled to know how. Staff great in there. Pools and slides great. Clean throughout, although pools water not checked, probably reason for Egyptian belly. Food good mix throughout week of themes although a lot very samey same. Night shows fantastic! Beach area beautiful, boat rides a must!
Just got back from spending a week at the Sindbad Club in Hurghada with my husband, and honestly? We are both exhausted, sunburnt, slightly heavier by at least two kilos, and ready to go back. If you are looking for a sterile, quiet wellness retreat where people whisper by the pool, keep scrolling. But if you want a lively, family-friendly resort where adults can act like kids again (and kids act like hyperactive sugar-monsters), Sindbad is quite the adventure. Here is our honest, slightly sarcastic breakdown of how it went down: 🧳 The Arrival & Room: "Spot the Minibar" We rolled into the lobby looking like melting candles because Egyptian summer heat does not play games. Check-in was relatively painless, though the front desk agent looked at my husband like he owed him money when we asked for a quiet room. The Room: Decent size, clean enough, and the air conditioning worked like a little arctic miracle worker—which is basically the only thing standing between you and total insanity at 2.00 PM. The Quirk: The housekeeping team apparently loved us because every single day we came back to find our towels twisted into aggressive swans wearing my sunglasses. Cute, but slightly terrifying when you turn on the light in the dark. 🌊 The Pools & Aqua Park: Where Dignity Goes to Die. Sindbad has a proper water park attached, and let me tell you, my husband made it his personal mission to test every single slide to "check for safety compliance." The Reality: The slides are fun, fast, and will aggressively dislodge your bikini bottoms if you aren't careful. We spent a solid three hours racing down the multi-lane slides like we were competing in the Olympics, only to realize we were the oldest people in line without a child attached to our hands. Zero regrets. The Beach: A short walk across the street gets you to the beach area. The Red Sea is gorgeous—crystal clear, warm, and full of fish that look like they were painted by a drunk artist. Just watch out for the aggressive towel-card inspectors; guarding your sunbed is a full-time sport here. 🌴 The Vibe & Entertainment. The animation team works harder than anyone I’ve ever seen in my life. You literally cannot escape water aerobics or stretching sessions. My husband hid behind a palm tree on day four because an animator named "Memo" tried to drag him into a belly-dancing competition. Memo won, spiritually speaking. The Crowd: A huge mix of families, couples, and loud tourists. It’s loud, it’s vibrant, and there’s always music playing somewhere. Also, a huge shoutout to Sheriff Egypt for organizing our excursions—you can easily find them online by their name! Their prices are much lower than the hotel guides, and the service is top-notch. We highly recommend booking their small-group trip to Cairo (capped at just 8 people with a private guide) and the boat trip to Orange Bay (Hula Hula Island). The yacht was brand new, and the guides spoke fluent English. An unforgettable experience! 🍽️ Food & Drink: The Carb Trap. Ah, the all-inclusive buffet. A place where diets go to have a very public funeral. The Food: There’s plenty of it, but you have to navigate the peak dinner rush, which resembles Black Friday at a Walmart. The local chefs are wizards with pastries—I gained two pounds just walking past the dessert station because those little honey-soaked cakes have personal feelings and they wanted me to eat them. The meat and grill stations were solid, though my husband had a minor panic attack when he tried to pace himself and failed miserably on night three. The Drinks: Look, it’s all-inclusive Egyptian alcohol. It’s not winning any Michelin stars. The beer is cold (thank the gods), and the local wine tastes like fermented grapes that had a very difficult childhood. Stick to the cocktails by the pool; after two of whatever neon-colored mystery juice the bartender hands you, everything tastes fantastic. ✨ The Verdict. Would we go back? Yes, absolutely. Sindbad Club isn't luxury five-star perfection, but it doesn't pretend to be. It’s fun, unpretentious, incredibly good value for money, and gave us enough funny stories to last until our next vacation. Just pack an extra pair of stretchy pants, bring your patience for buffet lines, and don't let your husband go near the water slides without a rash guard!
