Steigenberger Makadi

The hotel is isolated, no immediate hotel "next door" so no extra noise to deal with from a hotel with children. Easy walking distance or a short shuttle to the beach and shops. The atmosphere is very relaxed with staff to deal with any requests you may have. The rooms are a bit dated with the furniture but that didn’t really bother us at all. The rooms in the main block where we stayed are very comfortable, plenty of room inside, lovely balcony, particularly looking out onto the golf course, and very clean. The food is without question excelllent and the selection exceptionally good for a boutique hotel. There are only about 90 rooms. The staff are wonderful and polite and they have many returning guests to serve, which is always a good sign. This is a more expensive hotel in the region but well worth the money if you want great service, food and calm. Magnificent swimming pool and a gym. Golf course attached if that’s your game, and it’s good quality and will test your game throughout. A gem.

You come as a guest and leave as a friend

WOW, our 1st time here and i have to say it was amazing. The service and food were 1st class. We stayed in a room by the main pool and were able to just wake up, walk 10-15 metres and pick a sun lounger, no issues. The hotel was only at 30-40% occupancy as this time of year tends to be quiet. This gave us the feeling of exclusivity and no stress of finding beds in a morning or getting in a line for food throughout the day. The room was made up daily within minutes of us leaving and always spotless and made up with an amazing array of towel made animals. The room being so close we could just walk back and forth to use our own toilet and freshen up whenever we wanted to. We have traveled all over the world but have to say that the staff here are up there with some of the best we have ever come across. Firstly there was Yahia, who works by the main pool every day. He has worked there for 13 years and knows everything and everyone. Speaks perfect English and is so warm and friendly. There were so many people that have been going there for the last 10yrs+ and he knows them all. We made friends with a lovely couple From Germany, who go there twice a year for a month at each time and they are treated like royalty! Yahia would come round daily and say hello around mid morning and then walk the whole pool area and offer a free sunglasses and phone screen cleaning service.....every day! This would then be followed up by the chefs walking round offering fruits kebabs....again every day......all this before 12pm! You would then get Yahia offering you a cold towel by 1pm follwed up by a mid afternoon snack. A big shout out to Moustafa too (bar man by the pool), only took a day for him to get to know what we drank. He often had our favourite iced coffee ready for us in the morning and seemed to know when we were fancying a cocktail or wine in the afternoon. Also very warm, welcoming and friendly. Osman took over delivery of our drinks by the pool for our last few days when the staff changed shifts and always had a smile on his face! Ahmed in the Bogey bar was also lovely and very attentive in the evening, again knowing what we liked to drink and never having to wait before the next drink was being offered. It was during our evening meal we met Amhier (sorry if spelt wrong), this young gentleman looked after us so well, bringing us drinks and not letting our glasses be empty, informing us what was on the BBQ and making a point of speaking to us if he saw us anytime of day in hotel. He always gave a welcoming smile and asked about our day and checked we were enjoying our meal. We aren't ones to join in activites through the day but there was aqua aerobics every day, and BBQ lunch 1 x per week by the pool. There was a live singer every evening and the chance to have a little dance if you wish, or watch from the slide lines with seating indoors and outdoors overlooking the stunning golf course. Overall we would definately return to this beautiful hotel which is run by amazing staff!! I played the golf course as well, this is a must if you are here! Overall, a great holiday, great hotel, great staff, we will be back!

Fantastic holiday again at steigenberger Makadi. Staff make this hotel such a special experience.. Everyone so friendly, helpful, welcoming but special thanks to… Yahia and his team at the pool, always smiling, chatting, helping, laughing. Moustafa with the pool drinks, amazing service Kadou for the laughs at aqua aerobics Ahmed who made our room look so beautiful each day Mahmoud, Yahia and Chef Mahmoud in the restaurant, outstanding food and service. Finally Ahmed on the front desk for helping me with my Egyptian and writing me a phrase list to practice and make everyone smile due to my awful pronunciation. Can’t wait to return. Our first visit to Egypt and certainly won't be our last, due to our experience at this hotel. Our close friends have visited the Steigenberger many times, so we decided to surprise them by going there at the same time. We now understand why they have. The entire staff simply can't do enough, and always, willingly go the extra mile for you. The rooms and grounds are outstanding. The buffet has more of an a la carte restaurant feeling and never feels rushed as some can, our waiter Abd del was so friendly and attentive and recognised us from day one. You are ALWAYS spoilt for choice in terms of food options. The pool is large and clean and has a chilled, laid back atmosphere, (big shout out to Yahia and Mustapha) always willing to chat and have a laugh should you wish. To sum up, we visited the Steigenberger to give our friends a huge surprise, but it was us that ended up with one, due to the quality of our stay. Would highly recommend this hotel 100%
