We chose TUI Blue Crystal Bay because of the fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook, so we were really looking forward to a luxury 5-star holiday. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to those expectations. There are definitely some positives. The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning and beautifully maintained. The rooms are spacious, modern and very clean - credit to our cleaner who was exceptional. Apart from the odd exception the staff were attentive, friendly and worked extremely hard - the gardeners, animation team, waiters, cleaners, etc worked long hours but were always welcoming and had smiles on their faces. The beach was gorgeous and by far the best we've ever had on a holiday. The location was great - only 20 mins from Hurghada airport, approx 5 mins in taxi to Senzo Mall and approx 25 mins to the Marina. Both Senzo Mall and the Marina are worth a visit. However, there were several negatives that really impacted our holiday. One of the most frustrating policies was only being allowed to leave your sunbed unattended for one hour before your belongings were removed. We witnessed several guests having towels/bags removed which led to several poolside arguments. Some guests were even tale telling on each other to pool staff to secure beds which felt extremely uncomfortable. You should be able to leave your sunbed unattended to get some breakfast/lunch without fear of your towels being removed. On one occasion I was in the pool with the kids and could see the pool staff attempting to remove our towels so had to shout across the pool and quickly get out! There were a lot of local Egyptians who visited the hotel during our stay and although some were no bother, the majority would arrive at the pool side around midday and descend around beds already taken. I appreciate during this time of year everyone is fighting for shade but to have someone place an empty bed alongside yours so it's touching and then have up to 12 family members all descend around that one bed is just too much. Especially when they go on to shout across the poolside, throw water bombs, etc - there's just no respect. Several fellow holiday makers complained of the same which just left the pool side feeling overcrowded and uncomfortable. This hotel was by far the worse for sun beds and those holiday makers who say they have no issues securing beds are either getting up early to do so or coming at a time of year when the hotel isn't at capacity. I cannot comment on the adult only areas as this was all around the main pool. On top of that, the red flags that can be used pool side indicating you didn't want to be approached by salespeople were regularly ignored. As huge foodies, we were particularly excited to try all of the à la carte restaurants, especially after looking through the menus on the TUI app before we travelled. Sadly, the food was one of the biggest disappointments. The a la carte restaurants were definitely better than the buffet but quality was incredibly inconsistent. On more than one occasion I ordered exactly the same dish at the same restaurant and it tasted completely different each time. Some meals were lovely, others were very poor. Overall, the food simply wasn't what I'd expect from a 5-star hotel. Sadly, I also have concerns about hygiene. Five out of the six people in our party suffered from severe Egyptian tummy. We took every precaution possible before and during the holiday—we took probiotics before travelling, regularly used antibacterial gel, used our own reusable cups for drinks around the pool, only drank and brushed our teeth with bottled water, kept air con low in the room, etc. Despite all of that, almost all of us became ill. After three days of Antinal we thought we'd recovered, only for it to return even worse. Having visited Egypt before, we're familiar with the possibility of an upset stomach but this was on a completely different level. It wasn't particularly surprising after witnessing other guests picking up food from the buffet, changing their minds and putting it back onto the serving dishes. On one occasion, we watched a child pick up a bread roll, lick it, sqeeze and handle it several times before placing it back with the rest of the bread. Better supervision and hygiene practices around the buffet are definitely needed. Unfortunately, we also had to visit the hotel doctor after my daughter developed a severe ear infection. Her ear became so swollen that the ear canal completely closed. She has spent countless holidays in swimming pools and has never previously had any ear problems, so it does make me question the pool hygiene. Especially when toilets are a fair distance from the family pool and after witnessing pool staff cleaning the mats around the edge of the pool in the pool water. On a positive, the doctor was amazing. Another disappointing incident happened at breakfast. My daughter badly burned her fingers on an exposed hot plate at the egg station. This happened on day four of our twelve-day holiday. We reported the incident to the TUI rep, who raised it with hotel management. Management were quick to pass blame and certainly gave the Tui rep a version of events that was not consistent with what was happening on the breakfast buffet floor. Although we appreciated being offered complimentary late checkout and a day in a cabana at the Posh Club as a gesture of goodwill, what concerned us most was that nothing appeared to change. On our final day, the same hot plate was still left exposed with no warning signs, meaning another guest could easily have been injured too. On a positive note, the trip we did was fantastic! We booked a private speedboat during our stay with the guys at the entrance to the pier (located next door at the Mamlouk), which was one of the highlights of the holiday and something I'd highly recommend. We got to see the dolphins and then had two snorkeling stops. Being able to get on the speedboat via the pier rather than having to head down to the Marina was ideal. Overall, TUI Blue Crystal Bay has many positives, particularly the beautiful grounds, clean accommodation and hardworking staff. However, inconsistent food quality, hygiene concerns, health issues experienced by most of our group and the handling of safety concerns meant it fell well short of the luxury 5-star experience we were expecting. Sadly, despite its excellent reputation, we wouldn't choose to return.
What an amazing holiday tge hotel and grounds was stunning different restaurants doted about the complex was you wasn’t on top of everyone staff really friendly and tge place is kept spotless will different go back
Myself and my daughter spent a fabulous week at your hotel from 22/7/26 to 29/7/26. The hotel in itself is amazing and spotlessly clean. All the staff are amazing and make you feel very welcome. The food was fantastic and even my daughter who is a picky eater and complains about all food, loved everything she tried. Only issue was the BBQ restaurant where you pick your food before sitting down and she was too overwhelmed and felt rushed into picking the food. Once the food arrived the food was amazing. Pools and beach were lovely, No issues with sunbeds at all, the Lifeguards did an amazing job to keep everyone happy. The only slightly negative issue that we had was the room, It needs updating and concerned that there was nails sticking out of the wardrobe door. Also house keeping was not the best, floors weren't swept and a couple of days we had no housekeeping turn up. We would definitely be back and have already recommended this hotel to friends and family. Thank you for an amazing holiday.
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel and were really impressed with the overall standard. The hotel was outstanding, exceptionally clean throughout, with beautifully maintained gardens and a lovely, clean pool area. Everything was very well looked after. There was a wide variety of food available, with plenty of choice and a consistently high standard. There was something to suit everyone, and we really enjoyed the food during our stay. One thoughtful touch that we particularly loved was red flag system by the sunbeds - If you wanted some peace and didn’t want to be approached by the sellers, you could put up the red flag. Overall, a beautiful hotel with excellent facilities, cleanliness and food. We would happily return!
We came on holiday for two weeks to Tui blue crystal bay hotel and we had an amazing time due to the staff we met. All the staff we met were very kind, happy and extremely helpful. Our favourite restaurants were yades and the Turkish BBQ. Our son has coeliac disease and all the staff were extremely helpful and made him feel so comfortable to eat there. The chefs were amazing and the manager was so kind and extremely helpful. Sayed, Mohamed, Marley and all the staff were so kind, helpful and all the staff at yades and the staff by the pool, melad and the animation staff, moofasa, momo and all the rest made our holiday the best we have ever had. Yades and the Turkish BBQ were our favourite restaurants and the staff there were so friendly, kind, welcoming and just amazing. Mohamed, Sayed, Marley, Mohammed, and all the chefs and manager were just lovely and we came home feeling like we had made friends at Tui blue crystal bay. They all made our holiday so special and unforgettable. We have already come home and booked to come back in March for our 10 year wedding anniversary for a week just to celebrate with all of them. We have a lot of love and thanks for all of them. Thank you it is a holiday we will never forget and we can’t wait to come back.
