Xanadu Club Makadi Bay

Xanadu is a hotel resort located in Makadi Bay, Hurghada. It consists of two hotels, Xanadu - Makadi Bay and Xanadu Club. The resort itself covers a wide area and it is structured in such a way that you can both walk through the alleyways between the bungalows and other buildings or you can take one of the carts provided by the hotel. There are quite a lot of them going from the beach to the farthest hotel door all day and night. All of the staff is extremely nice and they genuinely do their best to please their guests. They are eager to make friends with you and earn your language. The waiters and bartenders also like to joke around with you and make you laugh. Personally, I have never seen service quite like this anywhere. Regarding the food, there is a variety for you to choose from. From traditional Arabic food to something as common as French fries, they are all incredible. Although, you should be ware, because some of the dishes are heavily seasoned and that is not something that goes well with everyone's taste. Besides the all-inclusive restaurants, there are three a la carte restaurants, one Turkish, one Italian and one for sushi, where the service was impeccable and the cooks exceed themselves every time. The atmosphere is different depending on the time and where you are inside the resort. For example, every night from 21:30 there is a unique show performed at the Show Centre, where the music is loud and the vibe is lively and energetic. On the other hand, if you are on the other side of the resort, the ambiance is peaceful and relaxing, great for a late night walk. During the day there is not much difference. The whole resort is quiet on its on, but, of course if it's very crowded, there will be a buzz of voices. Overall, in all three of my times there I had a wonderful time and I will surely go there a fourth time. I sincerely recommend going to Xanadu at least once in your lifetime. You will not be disappointed.

This hotel is satellite to main Xanadu Makadi bay. It is possible to use all the facilities of main hotel (except main restaurant), but enjoy more private, calm atmosphere of Club and have easier access to the pool and see. I will share my final general impressions. This is not our first time in Egyptian hotels, I will compare with previous experiences. Not ideal, but quite a decent hotel. First, the positives that we saw, of which there are many: 1) very clean, the cleaning service in the yard and in the rooms does a great job; 2) excellent internet, better in quality compared to our previous experience, handles video well, does not cut out, does not require reconnecting with a password every time; 3) good alcohol, I especially appreciated rose sparkling wine 4) special thanks to the hotel for the warm shower on the beach and by the pool, it is nice to stand under warm, not ice-cold water; 5) the waiters were most often, with a few exceptions, attentive and friendly; 6) snack bar by the beach - it is convenient that it is open long hours and children can grab not only fast food, but also fruits, vegetables and other full lunch menu; 7) A giant pool and a large water park with slides of varying difficulty. 8) A nice shallow entry into the sea, with a fairly wide swimming area. There's a small reef with fish on the right, very close to the shore and in shallow water, perfect for swimming with children. 9) The evening shows are professionally staged, not made by animation team, mostly dance-based, with only one fire show. Every evening at 8:00 PM before the show, there's live instrumental music in the lobby for an hour, perfect for relaxing with a drink or a cup of tea. 10) A large area adjacent to the main Xanadu Makadi Bay, where we spent a lot of time walking. And during daylight hours, from early morning until about 7:00 PM, the promenade running along the shore through the coastal hotels is open; you can jog or stroll along it. And generally, you can check out what the neighbors are up to. In the evening, access is blocked. 11) guest relations service is attentive and helps with all the requests Where we see some downsides: 1) the food was disappointing compared to expectations. The selection was seemingly wide, but the quality wasn't great. I think it's the oil they use for cooking—there's a lot of it, but it's not tasty. Even the baked goods were tasteless because of it. The first week wasn't great at all; they closed the stands for the second week, but the remaining ones seemed to improve. We ended up mostly eating fresh vegetables, grilled meats, baked meats/fish, yogurt, and cheeses. Basically, the simplest things in terms of preparation. That's what we found tasty. We expected more from a hotel of this level; we have something to compare it to. 2) There's a smell of fuel from the boats and yachts in the sea, inconstant, apparently depending on when the engines are running: when they're out to sea or moored. It's unnoticeable from the beach, but it's unpleasant when swimming. 3) The hotel's water is poured from sewage. When it's being poured, it smells like a farm, and the air vents in the rooms draw it in. We moved from the first floor to the third, which solved the problem. 4) The sports entertainment is weak. There aren't enough aerobic activities on the schedule, and they're held in the sun. For example, at other hotel two small covered decks have been built on the beach and by the pool, like open terraces, where all the activities were held. It's convenient because it's both outdoors and in the shade, not in the scorching sun.

Small and old rooms, floors are dirty, food average, no normal food for infants, water in pools is freezing, too many attention to kids, sometimes it was annoying. Too many attention at beach, they always want to sell excursions or smth else.
