I’d like to start by saying that the staff at this hotel do an exceptional job, and they are the reason the rating is good. I will break down the review into various sections; ARRIVAL – We arrived around 0050 after a private transfer. As we weren’t arriving on mass with a coachful of people check in was smooth and relatively quick. We were tired, hungry, and had been travelling for hours. We were told that the restaurant was open for late arrivals, we’d be taken to our room on buggy, and to await arrival of our luggage before returning to the restaurant. Our luggage arrived around 0115 and we went to the restaurant, arriving about 0125. The doors were closed, and a staff member told us they had shut and to go to reception. We went back to reception and spoke with the same member of staff who told us that he had informed us that the restaurant was due to shut at 0115 – he definitely had not otherwise we would have went straight away and sorted our room/luggage afterwards. He said he’d have food delivered to our room…we waited and waited and eventually gave up and went to bed hungry…the door went at 0250 hours, and food was delivered, however by this point we were all in bed sleeping…not a great start. GUEST RELATIONS – I went to the welcome meeting the following morning, and on the way out I spoke with Shady from Guest relations. I was trying to book our a la carte restaurants on the app but it wouldn’t let me, so he assisted me. During general conversation I had mentioned the experience the previous night. His response and solution was more than sufficient. I had various dealings with Shady throughout our stay and he is a credit to the hotel, always willing to help. I also had a brief interaction with Reem from Guest relations and she seemed really nice/helpful too. ROOMS/HOTEL - The hotel itself is stunning on entering, with a grand reception etc. As you walk out onto the terrace the views are amazing and the grounds are kept immaculate. The rooms are definitely dated, but clean and comfortable – the fixings/finishings etc are not what I’d expect from a 5 star resort and more akin to a 3 or 4 star resort. OTHER HOTEL COMPLEX – It is a short walk to the Jaz Mirabel Park/Club. Very similar to the beach, but the slides are in the park/club so you need to go there for these. You can get a drink/snacks at this hotel, but cant eat in their restaurant. OTHER GUESTS – Other guests ruined our experience somewhat at the hotel. We usually go to “Holiday villages” which are mostly British guests – we wanted to get away from this, and one of the main reasons we booked this hotel is because I seen reviews from people all over Europe. Some of the people we encountered at this hotel were the rudest people I have ever met in my life. I get that cultures are different, but you would be waiting in a queue at the restaurant, and someone would just go to the front, and literally barge their way in…it was the same at the queue at the bars, and happened all day every day. The way they would treat staff was disgusting, and wouldn’t say please/thank you (in any language), and would speak down to them (often shouting) as if they were less of a human. After days of frustration, we decided to speak up and were often met with aggression/hostility if we challenged someone in the above circumstances. I actually requested a quote to move to the holiday village as it was affecting our holiday so much. FOOD/RESTAURANTS – The food at this hotel is definitely centred around Eastern European guests. Things like stew, and potatoes at breakfast were strange to us, but we always found something to eat…the standard omelette station at breakfast done the job. I know this may seem insignificant, and it wasn’t really an issue for us but there wasn’t a chicken nugget in sight throughout the holiday…not at the main restaurant or snack bars…like I say, not an issue for our family but I know nuggets are a go to for a lot of families…another thing of note – you can’t get pizzas from the snack bars but not the main restaurant at dinner time. The snack bars were standard fayre with things like pizzas, burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, fries etc (minus the nuggets) – but there were birds absolutely everywhere, flying around the snack bars, landing on tables, eating off plates etc…it wasn’t very hygienic. A LA CARTE RESTUARANTS – There are 3 a la carte restaurants and we really enjoyed them all. Asian, Oriental, and Italian. It was nice to sit down and escape the chaos/rudeness of other guests in the main restaurant. The food was lovely, and you’d pay decent money for this in the UK. SICKNESS – All our family suffered sickness/diarrhoea throughout our stay…and even continued when we came home. We were having ice in our drinks initially, but stopped this. I don’t know the reason for sickness…it could have been food/ice/pool water/sea water – I don’t know and wouldn’t like to speculate. POOL AREAS – Pools are lovely (but really warm – like a bath at times). Ample sunbeds and staff will sort you out with beds no matter what time. Be mindful though that if you have a decent spot, and any space round about you people wont think twice about demanding beds are placed there…more often than not they will then smoke, regardless of how close they are to you – there is really no consideration of others in that respect. BEACH – Really nice beach, plenty beds/parasols etc. There is a snack bar and beach bar. JETTY – Really long walk but worth it at the end – the coral/snorkelling is amazing. ENTERTAINMENT – Overall I thought it was pretty poor. We were down at the beach a few times and it was things like “Mister hotel” followed by music. On our last night we were told it was mister hotel, then an international dance show, then music. We sat through mister hotel, then waited, and waited…I eventually asked a member of entertainment team what time the show was on and they told me it was cancelled – there was no announcement and we wasted so much time waiting. They don’t seem to stick to any times and it’s just lucky whether or not you catch things at the right time. The singers at the lobby terrace are really good…there was a belly dancer one night – for about 10 minutes tops before she went off (I think to the other hotel). They do have a circus night which was really good if you have younger kids. TAXI/INDRIVE – There is a hotel taxi and the prices are reasonable enough. I had seen mention of INDRIVE which is the equivalent of UBER (the lay out is very similar). It is so much cheaper than the hotel taxi but I don’t think its as heavily regulated as the likes of UBER. You put your pick up and drop off into the app and it suggests a price, you then post the ride, and drivers can counter offer/accept. As an example we went to SOHO square one night and the suggested price was 200 Egyptian pounds (equivalent of around £3). We “matched” with a driver and we were picked up at the main gate near the main road. Beware that there will be lots of people trying to get you in a taxi, so make sure you get the right person. You are given a pin in the app, and the driver needs to put that into their app to confirm the ride. We were lucky straight away, felt comfortable with the driver, and took his whats app information and just contacted him direct from there on…I think this is common practice amongst drivers as they’ll no doubt need to pay a percentage to INDRIVE and if they are getting it direct they can keep the money for themselves. TIPS – We spent quite a bit of money on tips, but I’m sure a lot of people don’t tip at all. We would usually tip 200 Egyptian (which I think was a lot), and more in the a la carte restaurants. My advice would be to get a small amount of Egyptian if you can and just withdraw the rest when you are there. The exchange rate I got in the UK was £1 to 45 Egyptian…from the cash machine in resort it was around £1 to 65 Egyptian so a big difference. Overall we had nice holiday…would we return…probably not but this is because of the other guests and the entertainment more than the hotel or the staff. You might think its strange that I raise a lot of issues but give it 5 stars – the hotel and the staff deserve the 5 stars.
My recent stay at Jaz Murable marked my sixth visit to the property, and as always, the experience was largely excellent. The staff remained perfectly professional and attentive, the food quality was consistently outstanding, and the Wi-Fi connectivity and proximity to the shopping center continue to be significant highlights. However, I did notice that the activities this year were not up to the high standard I have enjoyed over the past five years. While everything else was truly perfect, the entertainment program felt like a notable shift from previous visits. I look forward to returning and hope to see the activity offerings return to their usual, more engaging level.
We were 2 families of 4 and we all had a great time at the beach resort. Special mention to Menna in guest relations who continually went out her way to ensure everything was ok and rectified any issues that arose. Also to kerelos in the reception bar. Him and yencarlos from the animation team are an absolute credit to this resort. Thank you all for making our holiday a great one
Overall everything was good, the stuff, the food, the best part was entertainment team. The cost was worth the service.
Lovely hotel for a relaxing break with great staff and facilities. Could do with a few more beds around the pools, however the team will always find you a bed or two.
