Fantastic resort !!! We spend here 5 days in December .....everything was nice near the ocean breeze, best choice for relaxing .Every afternoon playing table tennis with Costa was absolute fun . Big variation of outdoor walking roots to discover near villages as Costa suggest us .Main bar nice decorated and full with tasty snacks .All in all a great winter relaxing and refreshing escape from reality.

We stayed at the hotel the second and third week of August with our two 5 year old and 2 year sons. We encountered a number of issues during our stay, but would like to highlight that the quality of service was excellent and the management did everything they could to solve these problems. Unfortunately for a number of these it was not possible to find a solution. 1. Noise (noisy) - One thing you can’t fix at a hotel is being directly on a flight path close to an airport. It was not very relaxing sitting by the pool with airplanes coming low over head every 30 minutes (and even more on Saturday’s and Sunday’s) 2. Swimming pool - There is a very large main pool and a smaller covered kids pool. Unfortunately both of these are saltwater. The favourite thing for my son to do on holidays is go swimming. However, the saltiness of the water even with goggles made it very uncomfortable for him, as he was frequently getting water in his mouth or in his eyes. 3. The Food - For a “five star” hotel the breakfast room and location of the buffet for dinner was very disappointing (some photos on TRipadvosor). This is a small room with the range of food on offer minimal compared to previous hotels and a lot of the food looked unappealing. However, the setting and also the quality of the service was fantastic. We also dined at the properties other 3 hotels (Greek, Asian and fine dining). The Greek was in a lovely setting with authentic cuisine although the menu was quite limited. The Asian had a very good selection of food, but the quality was not what I would have expected. 2 of our dishes had undercooked rice and our beef dishes were also disappointing. The fine dining restaurant was amazing, some of the best hotel food we have had. A great menu, a fantastic setting and exceptional service. 4. The Gym - as a regular gym gowerstauing at a five star hotel, I was looking forward to a well equipped gym. Unfortunately this was not the case. A small space consists one one rack of dumbbells, one curling bar with some free weights), one bench, two machines (multifunction so quite limited) , 2 spin bikes, 2 tread mills and 2 ellipticals. On the theme of two of everything there were also only 2 yoga mats! 5. WiFi (internet) - if you are planning on getting some work done during your stay, this is not the hotel for you. Outside of the bedrooms there is very poor wifi coverage, including at breakfast, but even more so by the pool. When I complained they gave me the details of another “VIP” network, but this was even worse. I ended up having to use my own data for the entire stay. 6. The Beach - The Amirandes has a great beach with fairly soft sand. However, for the first 6 days we were there it was so windy it wasn’t possible to swim in the water. There was a red flag which meant if you swim, do it at your own risk. When it was not windy it was much nicer with clear blue water, but anywhere on the beach you try and enter there are hard rocks for at least the first 5 metres, which makes getting in hard, especially for children. 7. Kid’s Club - the girls that worked at the kids club were Fantastic and great with the children. However the kids club itself was a small outdoor covered area, with some desks and chairs. There was very little in the way of activities and when I came to visit my 5 year old son there, he said the only thing for him to do was colouring in. 8. The Transfer - we asked the hotel to organise a transfer for us and asked them to pick us the most appropriate vehicle in terms of size. This was €120 one way, which is very much in-line with what we have paid for previous transfers of 1 hour, while on holiday in Greece. The main difference was that the hotel is only 20 minutes from the airport. When he later enquired independently about the cost we were told it should have been €70. The hotel ended up refunding us half the cost, but we felt that we had been taking advantage of.
