Atlantica Kalliston Resort & Spa

We were completely blown away by our stay at Atlantica Kalliston! From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we felt spoilt and well-looked after. The staff annd service were absolutely incredible, very attentive and extremely friendly; everything you could want from a hotel. Natalia was extremely helpful throughout our stay, ensuring we were taken care of. A special thanks to Penelope at the cafe for making the best coffee and being such a friendly face, and Robert! Food throughout our stay was excellent, with a huge variety and high quality. We also made use of the spa facilities and have to say my back massage by Therapist Irene was perfect! Pools and general facilities were really great - we didn’t feel like we needed to leave the hotel at all! We lived our stay so much that we will be coming back next year for a longer sta!y!

Recently refurbished to an extremely high standard. Bus stop to charming Chania across the road. Daily replenishment of water. Modern bathroom with decent hairdryer, good toiletries,bed linen regularly changed. All as you would expect. Buffet breakfast absolutely excellent. Good selection of healthy food, Cretan specialities, other choices in abundance, fizz and cooked to order items. We were half board as part of a package. I understand that evening buffet is €45. It was disappointing. Good salad selection, cheese etc but I wasn't impressed by the cooked dishes. As part of the half board package you can also eat at the Italian or Greek twice in a 7 day stay. We tried both. The Greek was fabulous! A gorgeous setting, watching the sun set and Georgios made it a wonderful experience rather than just a meal. Thoroughly recommend. The pools are very attractive with plenty of sun beds, always snapped up early. One visitor occupied the same one every day. Quite an achievement!! There are additional ones on the beach. Lovely sand but the sea can be extremely hazardous and the red flag was flying on most days. Staff are outstanding. Always greeting you with a smile. Thank you to Robert for always making me laugh at breakfast. I am unsure of the purpose of the "customer relations team". Not entirely sure what they can do for you other than to signpost you to reception. Nice to be asked how your room is but beyond that I am not clear on what they offered. I do agree with a previous reviewer. Lots of junior management in sight but they don't interact with the clientele. I did witness one step in to help at breakfast. In summary, if you are looking for a smart, contemporary hotel located close to beautiful Chania then this is a good choice. Go b and b. Try the Greek restaurant and relax. The staff are to be commended for making the hotel what it is. Thank you.

Location is great ,the hotel having its own beach which is excellent for bathing. The staff serving you are excellent (except for one) a special mention should be made for Robert and Nola. Robert was always prepared to go the extra mile and Nola always knew what we wanted - before we did! She is the one to speak to if you want anything sorted in the food and drink line – nothing appeared too much trouble! The hotel has been recently refurbished and had all the facilities you expect from a five star hotel, numerous pools, and its own beach all well kept. Breakfasts are very good but alas it seemed impossible to get a pot of really hot water for tea and in addition the warming plates seem only to keep the food luke warm. Breakfasts provide a good choice but there was not much variety for lunch. Dinners I can comment on later. We went bed and breakfast and we're pleased we did because Chania with its magical harbour lined with restaurants is only a €2.30 bus ride away and there are excellent tavernas a stroll away from the hotel for authentic Greek cuisine. Although the hotel is rated as 5 star in our opinion the Management is far from that level! There are numerous young men strolling around clutching walkie talkies but seemingly doing nothing and completely oblivious to anything that needs doing! Equally many young ladies in smart grey dresses and with clip boards who continually ask if your room is okay but appear to glaze over as soon as you mention a problem. The Gents toilet under the Italian Restaurant had no running water to the wash basins the whole 2 weeks we were there, there was no attempt to solve a simple problem and in my opinion it was a considerable health hazard! Maybe a man with a walkie talkie could solve it! We were particularly annoyed that despite notices and slides interrupting TV programmes that 'sun beds were not to be reserved with towels and if they were before 8.30am they and any personal belongings would be removed' was completely ignored by the management team and indeed one morning (when we woke early) at 7.30 the chair attendants seemed to actively help guests do this rather than prevent it. Note to Management - Don't issue warnings if you are not prepared to action them! Two days after our arrival a notice in the lift to our room advising that Gardening would be undertaken the following day and apologising for any disturbance, remained there throughout our 2 week stay! Now the Restaurants - The Italian has a limited lunch menu but a slightly better dinner menu. The Greek has a buffet type lunch and a pretentious dinner menu serving none of the fantastic traditional Greek dishes we all love and indeed expect! The Asian restaurant is not open for lunch but cannot be faulted for its delicious dinner menu. All the restaurants get fully booked for dinner the previous day or early in the day, but all of them are closed one or two evenings per week - another great management decision! Signage throughout the hotel is abysmal so make sure when you arrive you quiz your receptionist where literally everything is including what to do with beach towels and where to get clean ones. Now returning to the serving staff. There is one grey haired waiter (I will not name him but you will recognise him) that is the closest we have come to being served by Basil Faulty! He appears to be instructing the other servers what to do. On our second morning whilst my wife and I went to the buffet for our main hot breakfast course he cleared our table and allocated it to others. When I complained he stated they were very busy and it was our fault for not leaving personal belongings. (one can only assume the hotel is insured for theft of these belongings). I insisted for another table - our meals were going cold. He opened some doors concealing a large dining table for possibly 12 and commenced laying 2 places. Our response was this was totally unacceptable and find us a table for two! Fortunately two of the waitresses saw the problem and took it on themselves to rectify the situation. Again what appeared be top senior management were present and took no action whatsoever. We had several meals served by this gentleman throughout the complex and each time we had coffee but no milk, or coffee instead of tea, or tea instead of coffee or even cold tea, still water instead of sparkling - on one occasion it took three attempts to bring us the ordered wine before we got the correct one! The man is probably very willing but he needs training or maybe he can be promoted to carrying a walkie talkie!! We have stayed in 5 star hotels throughout the World and this is not the quality of service we expect and especially not from a large hotel chain such as Atlantica. Maybe a change of Manager is required?

Fantastic hotel with ample food choice at each of the restaurants! Rooms were spotless with great amenities. Swim up bar and location of beach were very much a highlight. Special thanks to Salma who works at the bar, a credit to the team and always took special care of us. Overall atmosphere and value for money were spot on

fantastic hotel with amazing staff. bed and breakfast only and the breakfast is fabulous.modern rooms kept spotless by chambermaids location perfect on the beech Maria from Netherlands was so good always checking on our stay and comfort. I would highly recommend this and if I had any criticism it would be the beech towels could do with changing but are fit for purpose FANTASTIC
