Atlantica Kalliston Resort & Spa

We had a fantastic stay at Atlantica Kalliston and were actually upgraded when we arrived, which was such a lovely surprise and got our holiday off to the perfect start! The setting is beautiful, the resort is lovely and the staff really are the highlight. Everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our stay, but a special mention has to go to Roberto in the Asian restaurant. He was absolutely outstanding – genuinely one of the loveliest people we met and a real credit to the hotel. The food in the Asian restaurant was also brilliant; everything we had was delicious and it was definitely one of our favourite dining experiences during the holiday. The ladies working in the lobby bar were also absolutely lovely. They were always so friendly and were more than happy to bring our drinks out to us when we were sitting outside, which was such a nice touch and made us feel really well looked after. Breakfast was also outstanding. There was such a great choice and everything we tried was delicious – the cinnamon French toast was a particular favourite of mine! One thing we did find a little strange was the difference between the lunch and dinner menus in the Italian and Greek restaurants. We actually preferred some of the classic Italian and Greek lunch options, such as the carbonara and Caprese salad, but these weren’t available on the evening menus. It would have been lovely to have some of those options available at dinner too. For the price of the holiday, we also felt that more should be included in the all-inclusive package. We completely understand that premium/high-end champagnes may come at an additional cost, but we were surprised that some beers were extra and that steak was an additional charge in the evening in one of the restaurants, particularly as steak was available as part of the all-inclusive offering at lunchtime. At this price point, we would expect almost everything to be included. We also found it odd that the Cr-Eat Hub, which serves things like burgers and club sandwiches, was an additional charge, when room service was only €5 extra and offered similar options. We also tried the evening buffet one night after hearing so many great things about it in other reviews, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. There wasn’t a huge amount of choice, the carbonara was sitting out alongside the other pastas rather than being freshly prepared, and there was no live cooking despite this being advertised on the app. It may simply have been an off night, as so many other guests seem to have loved the buffet, but unfortunately we wished we had stuck to the à la carte restaurants! Overall, though, we really enjoyed our stay. The beautiful setting, fantastic staff, excellent breakfast and the lovely surprise upgrade made it a memorable holiday. With a few tweaks to the all-inclusive offering and evening menus, we think this resort could be absolutely exceptional.

We have just come back from eight nights at the Atlantica Kalliston. We went as a family with our adult sons. For my husband and I it has been our third visit. Like every year the hotel, the location and the facilities are excellent. But what makes it are the staff: Daria, June, Maria, Natalia and Emna at guest relations (and anyone whose name I have forgotten). They literally pre-empt what you need. The staff at the speciality restaurants (we now know all about cri-cris). The bar staff: brother and sister team and the others. Fun, lovely and cheerful throughout. Tania who was an excellent addition to the team. She managed to adapt every session (yoga and aqua) to different abilities. I also need to commend the team for going out of their way to accommodate my husband who has several disabilities. They have done everything to help us and make us feel comfortable. Finally, when none of the excursion operators would take us on their tours into the White Mountains, they sourced a company, Carventures, who put together a bespoke programme for us. We went up 1200 m, saw vultures in flight and had a fantastic day - wheelchair and all. Highly recommend Rob and Maria of Carvenutres. Altogether: we will be back. It is a place where my husband is being superbly looked after which means I can relax.

Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and all staff are super friendly, professional and helpful. My criticism would be the loud music played by the pool with annoying beat, it’s not needed and conflicts with the other music played in the other areas by the pools etc. it doesn’t suit the hotel vibe and I think would be a much nicer experience without it.

My daughter and I had the best time staying here for a week. We were both trying to explain to others why it was so fabulous - the food, the service, the restaurants, the pools - all excellent, but what really stays with you is how calm and serene it really was. This is down predominantly to the experienced staff members who took time to help, advise and talk to guests. Nothing is too much trouble. We both came home well rested with great memories. Highlights for us were the Greek restaurant - superb food with amazing sunset, the fabulous buffet breakfast and dinner - honestly something for everyone and the wonderful guest experiences we joined in with - cocktail making, evening yoga and greek cooking. Only 20 minutes by bus to nearby Chania - it was really a fab hotel which ticked all the boxes. Book now!!!! We will be back.

Pui from the spa was top tier during the deep tissue therapy I highly recommend!!
