Bali Beach & Sofia Village

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This place is less than a kip. Completely falsely advertised, looks nothing like the pictures, and doesn’t state that there are 4+ different locations on the road for different rooms, it felt like a hostel. We arrived and were brought to our room which was 100 stairs up, we had 2 20kg suitcases, were young girls, and about 5 foot. This was simply not okay as it was stated nowhere that the steps and hill were this high. We arrived to our room to see a massive leak in the bathroom, which dripped down on our backs when we had to use the toilet. The hotel were aware of this issue prior to our arrival and left a bucket underneath for when we arrived. The bathroom smelled foul because of this leak. Our room was not good, the mattresses were rock hard, we used an old coarse, scratchy and rough blanket (if even) and had paper thin sheets left at the end of the bed which i had to use instead, my friend found fake eyelashes on her bed sheets, and stains on mine, these sheets were obviously not clean. Breakfast was plain, not much choice and was cold. We were not okay with our holiday up to this point and decided to contact Love Holidays, which then contacted the hotel to switch our rooms, this was not okay with us as the hotel overall was not good, food was terrible, the atmosphere was terrible, the pools were small and all beds are reserved by very early hours in the morning where nobody comes to use them for ages. There was no a la carte or spa like advertised, they had 3 cocktails which were absolutely disgusting with cheap local red wine, the real cocktails that you'd get on any night out costed extra money which was stated nowhere. The barman will ask you for cash to pocket himself and will not take card for these cocktails. There was no way for us to stay here, we went to reception in regard to refund. At first we rang them, and they knew us straight away from the previous love holidays call. As soon as we mentioned “refund” they told us they couldn’t hear us to come down. We went down and the receptionist was very rude, and no doubt talking rubbish about us to the male staff that was there in greek. We were not backing down as we knew they probably thought we were naive young girls. We demanded to speak to the manager to which she refused and said she is too busy with other hotels and we would have to email, this was at about 1:20pm. This receptionist kept telling us to go eat lunch, repeatedly, almost as if we were just hungry and this was why we were complaining. We pushed this further and she ended up telling us the manager would be here at 2pm. We met with the manager and she was nice enough, moved us room to a lower floor but at this point the room wouldnt have made a difference, the hotel was not up to standard and the rude staff also. In the end we had to change hotel, and had not even been here for 24 hours. Take this review from somebody who never leaves a negative review or complains much, i didn’t take the other reviews literally as i thought it was a slight over exaggeration. I wouldnt send my worst enemy here. Shoutout to the 2 male workers who actually helped us bring our bags to the new room as they saw us struggling, the others looked at us and didnt bother as we had just made a complaint.

Please take this review into account and under no circumstances book this hotel.I thought that the bad reviews were being dramatic until landing here.. We are three girls who are young enough so thought we could see the good in it.This place is no short of an absolute dump. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Our room had a leak in the bathroom that dripped as you were on the toilet. The pictures are an absolute deceit, the place is four different places and we got put in one up a good 100 steps, with our 20kg bags to lug up. As we walked into the room we see a bucket and towel to control the leak, showing that the hotel knew but were being negligent in not fixing the issue. The food was not nice at all and made my friend sick, only thing we found edible was the chips. Fake eyelashes were found in our sheets showing that they weren’t fresh, even our toiletries were dirty. The cocktails are not as advertised and are so incredibly disgusting, you have an option of 3 cocktails and they are all mank. Barman at the beach bar asked “cash or card” and then refused our card payment.After speaking with a passive aggressive receptionist who kept telling us to just go and “eat lunch” we finally organised a meeting with the manager who refused a refund because it was against their policy, they switched our rooms but honestly the hotel itself and the staff made our experience so horrible that we left and are now in a new hotel. As I said, DO NOT book this hotel as it will ruin your holiday as it partly ruined ours until we swapped.

We arrived in the evening yesterday. We stay at a fabulous room with a wonderful view outside. Staff was so friendly and we loved it. We sure suggest this hotel to our friends

Bali itself has beautiful views across the bay. Unfortunately our experience at the Bali Beach hotel wasn't pleasant. We had booked a cheap all inc with terrible reviews with the expectation that it would be a base to sleep and we would probably only eat breakfast and maybe lunch as we planned to be out and about a lot. First impressions of the hotel were disappointing as the staff were too busy arguing amongst themselves to notice us. Eventually a surly gentleman ordered us to put our cases to one side and eat lunch and said we would get room key after. Lunch was adequate, fairly typical all inclusive fare but we were hungry after a long journey. Receptionist then advised we had been allocated a high floor but we could change it next day if we wanted. This sounded quite ominous so we said ok if it's just 1 night. Then we found we were on the top floor, 10 storeys up, no lift, very few handrails. After managing to haul our luggage up to our basic room (nice views though), we realized we would have to go up and down in 28° heat each time. We are generally fit, healthy nearly 60 yr olds but knew we couldn't manage it even for a day. We went back to reception who were very offhand and said they had already told us we could change the next day. We asked what level the room would be but she just said lower. We went back up to our room and booked an apartment in the town as the hotel wasn't suitable for our needs and we didn't like the vibe. We still kept our wristbands so we could have brekkie each morning. Even then we witnessed some of the waiting staff being berated by a supervisor in public, not very professional behaviour. We handed the key in on the last day. I don't think I'd go back to Bali as it's too hilly and there are lots of fab resorts in Crete and I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel. The service was below par, food adequate, pool areas looked crowded and the wine was cloudy and undrinkable. We booked through On the Beach and nowhere in the description did it mention you may have to climb 200 steps to your room.

If you are not good with steps donot come here if you like different meats for meals dont come here its not for old people or wheel chairs but the views are great
