Castello Village Resort

Location is close to a rocky beach, but walk about a mile to a beautiful beach. ( Kalimera Kriti) Hotel is okay but nothing special, I would suggest a 3star. Basic bedrooms, with free air con, but evening meal you had to pay for drinks even though on half board basis, least I expected was free water .. 2 members of staff, Elvis & Sive made our stay.. Lovely resort of Sissi in the harbour.

Wow! The staff are all so lovely! Especially the restaurant manager Ervis! So jolly every day and night. Reception are friendly and the bar staff are fun. We especially thought the activity staff are good. Everyone seems happy.

Well here we go again! Visit number 5 so we must love it 😀 huge welcome as usual which feels like we have arrived at our holiday home in Sissi again. Amazing Sevi ,Ervis, Dora and Will on the bar who we had a lot of fun with ...plus a few lovely new faces. Lee was a little star always made time to come and have a chat .We booked a sea view and I have to say it was the best view we have ever had while staying here . As usual the food was lovely which means we over indulged again !! Hayho we were on holiday and that's what you do eat drink and be merry. We had some good entertainment especially the two chaps from Cuba really did set a fun atmosphere 😀 we met some really great guests and also had a lot of fun chatting to them...hotel still very clean but I still have a little grip about the public toilets indoor and out they desperately do need a total revamp and I have to say i wasn't the only guest who said it ! Having said that it didn't spoil our holiday. Thank you so much for making us feel at home again 💗

Location was great, room was double we wanted single beds told us would change next day as late arrival, wasn’t don’t next day but told definitely would be done next day wasn’t, until in the end they supplied 2 single beds that was fine if they had done that at first , the underside of one of the mattress was urine stained all over I did say we didn’t want it but was still left. Cleaning wasn’t brill was difficult to tell if cleaners had been in to room except when we put our towels in shower to be changed. Towels were quite worn and grey occasionally would get odd white hand towel, tea coffee wasn’t replaced had to ask, as was the hand wash ran out after first week was never replaced, the sheets on our bed just folded in half long ways basically make it yourself. Air con in room was in the L shape of room was not cool. Wardrobe door fallen off runner we just moved it along, drawer at bottom was lopsided. Breakfast was ok lot of choice always managed to find something, we only stopped b& b so can’t comment on other meals apart we did have lunch couple times, shared a pizza was nice, glass of wine was 6 euros for small glass compared to other restaurants that charged only 4 except couple restaurants like Oliver’s was 6 euros but the difference was much nicer wine. Elvris (don’t know if spelt correctly) we called him Elvis he is an asset worked hard always there at breakfast and served at snack bar. Other staff always seemed pleasant and friendly. I would say this part of Costello village are the cheap seats didn’t go in other so can’t comment on that. Guy who did entertainment played the music extremely LOUD and sounded like club music, I am a 70 year old woman and I do like music when I looked round most people looked middle aged with few exceptions but would have been nice if music to suit everyone, loved it after he went so you could hear😁 overall think Castello village needs update in nearly all area's, sofas in reception all stained. Forgot to say our balcony was sooo small did have table and 2 chairs but no room to walk round literally that was it. Some lovely restaurants close by and walk over bridge few more restaurants and bars.

CASTELLO VILLAGE RESORT Accommodation Castello Village Resort is rated by some tour operators as a 4-star hotel. It is not. At best most of the rooms are 3-star but a few (Room 407 for example) are 2-star at most. Room 407, while clean and functional, is small cramped and dark. It is described as having a ‘garden view’. In fact the ‘garden’ comprises a few straggly, mosquito-riddled bushes. The patio area is tiny, not fit for purpose and in need of complete refurbishment. The room is also accessed via a long flight of steps making it unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. Indeed the entire hotel is built on several levels and there are numerous steps and ramps to be negotiated. So if offered Room 407 or similar on arrival at the hotel either refuse it or insist on being moved to another room. Food Breakfast at Castello Village is fairly standard with the usual mix of fruit, cereal, cooked foods, juice and coffee to choose from. Dinner, however, was disappointing. Food was repetitive and lacked variety and imagination. It was often cold as well. Housekeeping Housekeeping was generally poor. While waste bins were emptied daily, beds, if made at all, were left untidy, sheets were not changed regularly and fresh towels were not always provided. Surfaces were not wiped Staff Staff at all times were pleasant, anxious to resolve problems and usually attended to any issues promptly and without fuss. Conclusion Despite the problems outlined above, most of which I managed to overcome, my wife and I spent a pleasant 10 days in Crete. Next time, however we might book the adjacent Castello Boutique Resort and Spa which probably does provide 4-star accommodation
