Heronissos Hotel

Where do I start. We arrived to the hotel after 11pm, and went through the checkin process. When paying the tourist tax they refused card payment and told us to go out and took for an atm. We were then handed keys and told to go to the second floor. No help no Guidence, then came the room. We paid for superior room. Well it certainly isn’t superior. It was a box sized room with little to no storage. The balcony over looks an arrangement derelict area with an abundance of bins and rubble. An area that seems to be the place to go at 5am when ur out of the local clubs to throw up and make a nusence of yourself as the noise is horrendous in the wee small hours. Cleanliness was ok though. Food is extremely poor. Same food served over and over, and salted so much u didn’t really no what u are eating. The soup and ice cream were our life savers for 2 weeks. Soft drinks machine stopped working on more than one occasion at dinner time, and a not so charming female restaurant supervisor told people they could buy drinks in the shop. The hotel is all inclusive. Finally after words with other guests she brought in 2 jugs of water, 20 minutes before the restaurant closed!! For 300 or more guests. Then there’s the pool. Not enough sunbed by half. A rule of no holding sunbeds is noted around the hotel but this clearly isn’t managed as after 7am if ur not at the pool u have no chance of a bed. And a grand total of 15 parasols. Not even a mat to lie on the cheap uncomfortable plastic beds. Beds that strangely enough aren’t in the advertised pictures for the hotel. The cleanliness of the hotel isn’t great. Corridors are dirty dated and unkept. Most days clean towels are left in the rooms but rooms aren’t cleaned or beds changed very often. Entertainment is 2 nights a week. A dj one night and dancers another. Nothing else. Staff are rude, very unhelpful and on one occasion where arguing in the restaurant in front of us. A staff member on Friday morning, a thin well dressed women, slim with long blonde hair was actually standing at the bacon tray ripping bits of bacon of and eating with her hands. Ripping of bits of food that guests have to eat. Disgusting!! This hotel is advertised as 4 star. Whoever decided that needs to go spend 2 weeks here. It would be a complete U turn. 2 star and that’s at best. We love Crete but this experience has completely put us off

This was the best value ever . The location , away from action but still central.. I was in the second building which has sea views . The room was spotless , balcony , fridge, all comfortable bed, fresh white bedlinen hot water. The buffet was a fab array of salads, different chicken , lamb , pork & fish dishes in flavoursome sauces, Pool and pool bar really add style to the whole complex . I can’t wait to go back

I cannot believe the positive reviews on here. This hotel is a 2 star at best. We were scammed on arrival we were taken to a room that the can only be described as a cell. The smell of sewage was overwhelming the bedding looked grubby and tge view from the room was of another building within touching distance. We had to pay €100 to upgrade to a room that looked like those on the website. The food was terrible. If you have any kind of food allergy forget it. No chef available to ask about the food. The same rubbish was served up each night grey fish, meat choice disgusting. I tried to cut a piece of chicken and after chewing for sometime I had to spit it out as it had just turned to a fine stringy mess in my mouth. The drinks package was almost not existent cocktails were an additional €6. I ordered 2 pins colada’s and got pineapple juice with a shot of Malibu. No entertainment despite advertised on website. As for the resort itself, the hotel was situated on a street that looked like an industrial estate. As for a beach what beach. There was no access to the sea it was more like a port. The bars all served all day breakfast and gyros and chips. The bars were all offering the same but the cocktails at least were the real deal. Never again. Love holidays should do more homework on the hotels they advertise. This was appalling.

From check-in to check-out, Heronissos Hotel delivered every single time. Spotless, welcoming, and full of good energy. The kind of place that makes you forget the rest of the world even exists. Absolutely brilliant!
