High Beach Resort

We stayed at High Beach Hotel in the new part of the hotel, room 608, and had a very pleasant experience. The beach is very close, which is a big advantage. The food was delicious, varied, and different every day. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and bed linen replaced regularly. Everything was clean, tasty, and beautiful, and the staff were always kind and helpful. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great during our first two days, but of course that’s not the hotel’s fault. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel!

We just concluded a 6 night stay at High Beach Resort. To say it was underwhelming would be an exaggeration. My husband and I and our grown daughter booked two rooms at the resort. Here are the highs and the lows: • The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the staff in the buffet restaurant really worked hard to keep everything clean, place settings cleared and drinks refilled. • The room while not the largest for a resort was acceptable and very clean. The staff however left the patio door open on at least one occasion in our room and probably two in our daughter’s who awoke after our first night’s sleep with 6 massive mosquito bites. • I found the bed to be extremely hard and uncomfortable. • There were no arrival instructions so we could not figure out how to check in and where to leave our car while we did so. We, in fact, found ourselves down what we were told later was a wrong way street, past the front desk. After I got out of our car and walked around a bit, I discovered the registration office sign (which is only visible if you have already passed the front desk itself). We were then directed to temporarily park in another facility’s lot while we checked in and then directed to the parking lot for the resort. • The food was probably the most disappointing thing about High Beach. There were large quantities of food and they were varied. The desserts were generally excellent, the breads were delicious and the cold and uncooked items were generally good but the hot and cooked foods were really poor. None of the food that was supposed to be hot was actually hot. It was all tepid. Even the soup which was in its own supposedly heated electric tureen was barely warm. Dishes which were just delivered from the kitchen were not hot. Every chicken dish, except for the chicken skewers, was totally dried out. The fish dishes were all very fishy smelling except for the mussels and the octopus. The stewed lamb, pork and beef dishes were acceptable but not memorable. Supposedly the nights had themes but had we not asked them what the themes were at the Concierge desk it would have been difficult to tell. Just to elaborate, on Greek night you couldn’t find moussaka nor any dessert with filo dough. • Being from the US, we decided to do our one table service dinner on Mexican night. So we made a reservation and went to Elia. The service was very good but again, the food was barely warm (given that we were sitting where we could see the food as it came out of the kitchen this was perplexing). My daughter and I had beef cheeks which were stewed and OK but the beef was served over a supposedly smoked eggplant puree which was the most unappealing brown color you can imagine. It also didn’t even taste remotely smoked. The dessert at Elia was not particularly good either. As an aside, we ventured back to the buffet after having dinner just to see what we might have eaten had we not booked into Elia and our decision was validated even if the meal at Elia was disappointing. • The wine served with meals was more than acceptable. My husband didn’t care for the beer which he tried once.

Had such a lovely and relaxing experience getting a full body massage with my misses, both of us left like new people, had to give a shout out to bibi , Pavlos, Maria.

The High Beach Resort is a very well-maintained and visually appealing hotel complex. We arrived on April 2nd, 2026, the official start of the season. According to locals, the day before the hotel opened, Crete experienced an unprecedented weather phenomenon – a Saharan sandstorm that left unmistakable traces and completely undid the extensive cleaning work carried out beforehand at the hotel complex. On the day of our arrival, the ENTIRE staff was present to clean the hotel grounds of the orange Saharan sand. It had stubbornly penetrated the smallest corners, through door cracks, on the building facades, and on the streets and sidewalks. Despite this unprecedented crisis situation, the ENTIRE staff welcomed the guests with a warm smile! That's truly a great achievement! A very special thank you goes to the both managers LIA and YANNIS, who so professionally, sovereignly and prudently navigated their team through this exceptional situation, ensuring guests a carefree and unrestricted stay! This achievement deserves the highest respect and appreciation!!! The food was very varied and extremely tasty. Furthermore, there was a very well-equipped and very modern indoor fitness room. In the evenings, the bar offered a varied program of live music. The band and dance group, who presented traditional Greek dances and music, deserve special mention. They involved the guests and created a unique atmosphere. Yannis's singing was particularly impressive and surprising (singer and manager - what a rare and extraordinary professional combination!)
