King Minos Retreat Resort & Spa

From start to finish, this hotel was absolutely superb. We opted for a half-board Jacuzzi room with a garden view, which suited us perfectly as a couple. Arrival and check-in were smooth, and being taken to our room via buggy/cart was a lovely touch after hours of travelling with luggage. The room itself was spacious, and the decking/outdoor area gave us plenty of space to relax. The Jacuzzi was the perfect way to end each evening. Breakfast each morning was plentiful, with a wide range of hot and cold options. Dinner was equally impressive — we were spoilt for choice every night, with a great variety of dishes, including options for less adventurous eaters such as pizza and pasta. On a couple of occasions, we swapped dinner for lunch and were just as pleased with the selection. Every meal we had was delicious. The hotel is situated at the top of a fairly steep hill, so the walk back in the heat could be tiring at times. However, there’s a short walk through the hotel grounds and an underpass leading directly to the beach, which was beautiful. There were also a couple of beach cafés/restaurants offering sunbeds for €20 per couple, which included access to both the beach beds and the pool area beside the restaurant. We didn’t quite make it into Hersonissos itself, but it’s around a 30 minute walk to the centre. One of the biggest highlights of this hotel was the service. The staff genuinely couldn’t do enough for you — everyone was friendly, welcoming, and chatty, which made our stay feel even more special. My only negatives are really personal preferences regarding the room itself. Although it was gorgeous and spacious, it lacked storage space, with only two small drawers and a single hanging rail. We ended up feeling a little messy because there wasn’t really anywhere to put our things. The same applied to the shower — it was huge and luxurious, but there was nowhere convenient to place shampoos or toiletries. I also felt the housekeeping was slightly below the standard I would expect for a hotel of this level. We didn’t notice the bed being changed during our week long stay, the tea and coffee station wasn’t restocked unless we requested it at reception, and the floors didn’t appear to be cleaned regularly. That said, these are personal observations and may not bother everyone. Despite those small issues, we had a wonderful stay and would 100% return.

Everything was brand new and beautifully kept. The view from our room was great. Pool was super clean and loads of sunbeds. Entertainment in the bar each night was lovely. Bar staff were great and so friendly, especially Dionisis who made it a really welcoming atmosphere. Had a massage which was lovely. Food was delicious - traditional / range of options. It felt really luxurious and deserves its 5 star.

We loved our stay at the king Minos. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful, especially the two spa rep girls and Janis at the car rental. The room was very spacious and clean. We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay, which could be switched to lunch on any given day, which we found very handy. The food was good, however more options would’ve been appreciated. Overall, we found our stay very relaxing and welcoming, would recommend.
