King Minos Retreat Resort & Spa

We had an excellent stay . at the hotel which is well located to beaches and the local town. The rooms were spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant catered for all tastes and the food was very good. Worth looking at.

This was an excellent experience. The location by sea,so beautiful view, spectacular scenery from the hotel. The rooms are clean and well maintained daily, well stocked for necessities, coffee, tea, water and toiletries, bed linen changed daily or as needed. Thanks to the lady who was maintaining my room and taught me to say "ευχαριστώ". The lights in room are very relaxing. The room was very quiet with minimal sounds from children next-door which I didn't mind. This gave time to myself and reflect on my life without disturbance. The food was excellently prepared with many choices of what to eat. Excellent service from all smiling staff both in the dining room and at the bar by the beautiful pool. Lot's of entertainment in the evening by the pool, very relaxing. The massage service was very restoring energy by Dina and the team, so professionally done. I strongly recommend everyone for this place for holiday, with family, as couples or alone as you will not feel alone here at King Monos Retreat Resort & Spa.

This is a lovely five-star hotel with beautiful décor, and the staff were consistently friendly, attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, however, there were several issues that affected our overall experience. When we arrived, the shower in our first room leaked all over the bathroom floor due to a faulty seal. We were also disturbed by building work starting as early as 6am. Although we had booked a sea-view room, instead of enjoying the view, we were looking directly at the building works. Thankfully, the staff moved us to another room, and we appreciated how they handled the situation. The hotel also lacked several facilities that would have made our stay more enjoyable. There was no shop and no indoor bar, which was particularly disappointing given the weather. It rained for most of our stay, and with no daytime entertainment or indoor activities available, there was very little to do. The only places to spend time indoors were the reception area or our room, which made the days feel long and left us with limited options for relaxing. While we understand that the weather is beyond the hotel’s control, better indoor facilities and entertainment would have made a significant difference. Overall, the beautiful décor and excellent staff were definite positives, but the early-morning building work, initial room problems and lack of indoor amenities were disappointing for a five-star hotel.

If you’re ever thinking of booking a holiday to Greece, particularly a relaxing, adults-focused getaway where you can completely switch off from the world, then King Minos Retreat Resort & Spa in Hersonissos, Crete is somewhere I honestly cannot recommend highly enough. I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy some amazing holidays over the years, but I can genuinely say I’ve never experienced a hotel quite like this one. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was nothing short of first class. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, but what really makes this place so special is the people who work there. The staff are on another level entirely. Nothing is ever too much trouble, every little detail is taken care of, and the warmth, kindness and genuine hospitality they show is something I’ve never experienced to this extent anywhere else. They don’t just make you feel welcome; they make you feel genuinely valued. Especially George who was excellent waiting on us all through the holiday with a smile every day. Then there was Dior &Michael in the evening who again really made us feel like nothing was to much trouble. It’s very rare to go somewhere and feel like you genuinely cannot fault a single thing, but this was one of those places. Pure relaxation, exceptional service and an experience that will stay with me for a very long time. Some places are just a holiday destination, but others leave a lasting impression. This is definitely one of those places Already wishing I was back there.
