Oros Luxury Beach Resort

The hotel is stylish and modern with the rooms very well kept. We had a junior suite with a pool (for my daughter mainly!) however we couldn’t use it much as the terrace had no sun all day until around 5pm due to a large fixed cover. So unless you are comfortable with an unheated pool and getting out into the shade - think again. We had the bed and breakfast package - the breakfast was lovely but all of the other restaurants are very ‘fancy’ which is not suitable for my daughter meaning the only option is the buffet for dinner (upwards of €50pppn excluding drinks). The hotel is very remote with only a couple of small beach bars within walking distance, so for other restaurant options you need to hire a car or get a taxi. €15 each way to the closest small town. Rethymno is the closest large town which is minimum €25 each way which makes going for dinner very expensive. Most days our ‘free’ bottles of water were not put in our room so we had to ring through for them. There is a coffee machine but be warned you have to pay for the pods - €1.50 per pod!!! There was no kettle or blue speaker in our room as advertised on their website. The main pool is adults only - so although this is advertised as a ‘child friendly’ hotel I would strongly disagree. Crete is beautiful and would definitely return - but not to this hotel. It is very expensive and not suitable for families. It would suit a wealthy couple who are happy to sit by the pool all day or hiring a car…. And on the ‘all inclusive’ package (which was another £2000 for a family of 3).

This Hotel is a good 5 star hotel, but could be better . The bar staff at the pool bar are great people but they can’t make a great cocktail drink. The food in the buffet is hit and miss as are the other restaurants. The hotel is very clean in every aspect the whole place is very laid back and relaxing All staff are very good and helpful, but be aware this place is in the middle of nowhere so be prepared to spend time and money to travel around .

We have had an exceptional stay at Oros beach, hotel which is aesthetically beautiful. The staff were amazing and we would like to give a shout out to Gianis in particular at the pool restaurant. From arriving it was my birthday and they had left a lovely cake and drinks for our arrival which was most welcome after our journey and late arrival. Checking in and out was smooth. The restaurant staff were helpful at breakfast and evening meals but we particularly loved the team at the pool restaurant where we opted for a later lunch. Drinks were excellent and plenty full. The room was large and we had amazing views of the hills and sea, with a side view juniors suit with pool. The pool was cold but we did brave this on a few occasions. Thanks to all for a wonderful stay, highly recommend, very clean and beautiful resort.

As a high end 4 star hotel Oros would rate 5' however there is little of the finesse of true 5 star hotel, turndown, room service / food sevice to rooms does not exist, service to pool areas is slow to non existent. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Food in the buffet restaurant is bland and unimaginative. A particular negative is a busy and noisy main road running between the hotel and beach,. If you expect 4 stars you will be satisfied, 5 stars will disappoint
