Just come back from 7nts holiday from UK. Overall we had a lovely holiday but a few niggles did put a slight dampner on it. We arrived on a late flight, reception were quick but informative and for us to the room and offered us something to eat at the cold Buffett in the restaurants. Taken by buggy to our room, very helpful staff with cases and showing us the room and sorting out issue with keycard for us while we hope settled. Cold buffet was adequate and nice, no issues at all. The morning of day 3 was where our issues started…….. my 18y/o Daughter woke up at 7am with ants crawling all over her and her bed! We lifted the mattress and they were everywhere! You can imagine she was distraught as were we. While she showered and tended to the ant bites, my Husband went to reception to inform of the issue and state we were not staying using that bed again or room. He was met by hostility and accusations of us eating in the room…….we did not have any food or drinks in the room and nothing had been consumed around or on that bed! The duty manager then took over, apologised after looking at the videos/photos and asked us to come back at 9.30am to “see” if they can change our room, handed us some bite cream said the cleaner would come asap. No cleaner came…..by 9am We had had enough and went to reception. A room was found but had not been cleaned from previous guests as yet, so we packed up and moved. We were out on the block opposite and I can tell you that room had no one enter it to clean or sort the ants until after 2pm! Shocking. And then by 4pm someone new was out in it 🫣 but that was not our issue any longer the new room was like for like so we cannot moan and it was ant free! Only issue was slightly smelly bathroom more damp smell because maybe other guests don’t air it out after use, so we kept the balcony doors open and bathroom to keep airing out the smell each day. We had a great rest of stay, staffing was very dependant on who you got, some were very pleasant always smiling and saying kalimera and others just grunted but you get this at every hotel around the world. Water slides are great fun! Although as outsiders use the park as well as hotel guests, the rudeness of some of those who have paid for the day inside was horrendous, acting like they owned the bedding areas over hotel guests because “they’ve paid” and some people using facilities for all Inclusive hotel guests only and helping themselves to the salad bar and ice creams! I feel the staff need to be a bit more vigilant- but maybe it’s not worth the aggression they might get? Not sure but it didn’t sit right with me when we’ve paid all this money and Joe Public just starts helping themselves to it for free? The staff at the main pool bar were very pleasant and helpful though. Evening entertainment is at the main pool at the top end, acts were ok - not amazing and we left most evenings early to go sit in the bar by reception with the terrace to chat and play cards. Food was really good but disappointed with the kids options in the main restaurant on the evenings. I have very fussy eaters and no pizza/chicken nuggets just pasta and other potato options mainly. 1 night was fish fingers and pizza only on Italian night. The Cretan and Asian Star restaurant were fab! And Asian star offers nugget and chips for the kids so my fussy eaters were thrilled! We arranged a birthday cake for my son for our first night, that was lovely and the hotel were fantastic with arranging this with us over email before arriving. Overall as said, we had a great holiday albeit the bumps along the way, but they were sorted adequately. Everything I’ve seen on reviews here stands. As a family I would suggest maybe the upgraded rooms, the Zesus block has its own little pool that is quiet and lovely and rooms look nice there. We were Thalia originally and then Erato these seem to be the standard twin/doubles that have 4 beds in them. Not sure we will return as we like to try different places, but it was a good stay, not sure I’d go in the main summer holidays because of the £££. We had a lovely time, wasn’t bowled over though which is a shame.
This was our third year in a row staying here, and once again my family and I had a wonderful holiday. The cleaners, chefs, bar staff, and everyone else were amazing as always. Thank you for making us feel so welcome every year. A special mention goes to the lady working at the snack bar restaurant by the beach. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, but she was absolutely fantastic with our two boys. She was always so friendly and welcoming, and I’m sure she knows who she is. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to her. Next year we won’t be returning, but only because we’re trying a different destination. We fully intend to come back the following year. The only disappointment was our room (8109). To be honest, we weren’t happy with it. There was an open drain in the middle of the bathroom floor, which gave off an unpleasant smell and made the room feel uncomfortable and unclean. We ended up placing towels over it during our stay and kept asking cleaners to mop bathroom. The room layout also wasn’t ideal for a family of four. The children’s beds were positioned right next to the main entrance door, so my wife and our two children slept in the main bed, while I had to sleep on the corner bed, which wasn’t very comfortable. I also think that if you’re updating the rooms, they should all be brought up to the same standard. While the sea view from Room 8109 was perfect, the room itself felt dated compared to the room we stayed in last year (5008), which was much more modern and comfortable. Overall, we still had a fantastic holiday thanks to the wonderful staff, and we look forward to returning in the future hopefully rooms will be more modern.
We had a brilliant time with the entertainment, rooms, food and everything else. Also the entertainers Rosa and Andrei. I would highly recommend
I had a fantastic time at Star beach resort, the food was amazing and staff were the best I've seen at a resort. Special shout out to Andrew, generally the most down to earth guy, always smiling and helping and great sense of humour. He also got all the kids involved with all the activities as well as the adults. I'd also like to say Rosa was amazing too, always smiling and extremely helpful can't give these 2 from the animation team enough credit! Manthos the bartender was also fantastic!
The animation team was pretty good!
