We arrived Saturday 2nd May 2026 at 11:30pm, when we arrived in the bedroom we had to wait for housekeeping to make up the 2 singles to a double (no double bed options available) after using the toilet, we could not flush it as the button to flush were stuck on the wall so needed to wait for maintenance to attend and repair, by the time this was all sorted we finally got to bed at 01:30Hrs. The next two day weather was awful (not the hotels fault or TUI) We booked a swim up with sea view, this was marked down to a swim up with limited sea view due to tree and bush growth, once we was out on the terrace sitting down, you couldn’t even see the sea (Room 1105) After the fourth day we finally got moved, we was told to be out of our room and have our baggage up at reception for 09:00Hrs, we then had to wait 3 hours to get into our room, once in we then had to wait for our bed to be made into a double again and then for maintenance to sort out the lock on the door because the card would not work, they ended up replacing the lock, we couldn’t leave our room until 15:00Hrs, the room was a partial sea view, after being able to walk around the resort, there were much better swim up rooms with lovely sea views, so why was our room downgraded and then given a room with no sea view in the first place, we was one of the first on the resort and feel like we were just given the sh/7 room. The bathroom floor became an ice rink after a shower (no extractor fan, if you opened the window, people from the path could see right in) the sofa was dirty and all stained, our bed was only changed once. Ocean Resturant wasn’t open and was told it wouldn’t be until June when the occupancy increases, the beach bar and cocktail bar wasn’t open for the first 4 days. The main buffet Resturant was very repetitive and the food was very bland and nearly always tepid or cold, the other restaurants were only open on certain days, you have to book 2 days in advance, the BBQ, you have to cook yourself (I’m on holiday and it’s not a busman’s holiday) one is Italian, with the rubbish being served in the buffet, I didn’t want to bother, sushi was a charge and I’m not keen on Chinese. So our options were limited and disappointing. We ended up hiring a car for a few days so we could get out and eat at some local places which was really nice. The only shop that was open was the supermarket, there was a sign on the shop opposite saying ‘if you wish to buy anything, please let the staff know in the supermarket’ that’s telling me I can’t browse, the other shop below was empty. The pools were freezing, so we had a swim up pool that we couldn’t even use, I spoke to reception about heating the pool up to be told no way. The resort itself was very nice, clean and the staff very friendly and welcoming, we personally would never come back and would never recommend it, there are much better places to visit like Cape Verde.

The hotel is spotlessly maintained with the staff being extremely friendly and efficient from the front desk to the gardener they could not be faulted in any way. The hotel is in a remote location served by a long hilly winding road so if exploring is what you wish to do this location would not be for you. The transfer from the airport was very quick about 20 minutes but despite its proximity we heard no aircraft noise during our stay. The food was always fresh and and nicely varied, with attentive waiting staff on hand to provide an excellent service. The a la carte restaurants comprised a Chinese, Italian and BBQ restaurant. They were OK the main course was served in the former two, with buffet starters and desserts. The BBQ was a good concept although the cooking was likely supervised which was a concern with chicken being cooked on the. wrong grills. Written instructions would seem a better solution than a verbal explanation. We as a couple did feel that the resort was targeted more at families rather than couples and as such I would be reluctant to recommend it to a couple. All the pools were available to families with children often being only lightly supervised. The relax pool had a small sign saying no ball games which was not enforced. That said the pools were spotless and we found the main pool absolutely stunning. Evening entertainment was provided by the Animation team it was OK. The main disappointment was in the main bar. Firstly it had the look and feel of a waiting room with bright lights continually on. Entertainment was provided every night by the same singer and saxophonist. Although good it was repetitive. It was disappointing that there was no entertainment (even piped music) in the cocktail bar. The biggest disappointment however was our room. We had selected a swim up room with a partial sea view. The room was to say the least drab. We had requested a double bed and assumed as we were in a 5 star resort the double bed would not be two small singles pushed together. The fridge in the room was only stocked with two bottles of water for a five star resort I would expect a little more, with any beers etc having to be purchased from the shop. It is extremely surprising that there appeared to be a laisse faire attitude to smoking as such with smokers on our adjacent rooms we barely used our swim up pool. I think this is a fundamental necessity to have designated smoking and non smoking rooms./blocks. Finally much of the facility is 5 star although the room and main bar area would in my opinion only rank three star. But a big thank you to the staff on resort.

Firstly, the staff at Blue Lagoon Village are amazing. There were a few who particularly stood out and went above and beyond and we could not be more grateful. There is a real focus on children which was great for us being we have two toddlers aged 2 and 3. The hotel is clean, there are a lot of pools, snack bars and other facilities. We were however supposed to go back to Cyprus for our family holiday but due to the unstable climate at the moment we decided to change location. Having been to a 5* resort in Cyprus (Royal Appolonia) and seeing the difference, I don’t feel it is fair to class Blue Lagoon Village as 5*. The food is a real issue and actually the reason why we unfortunately will not be returning. It is very repetitive and I was also not wowed by the restaurants that need to be booked either. All dishes were lukewarm and numerous occasions I found the fried eggs at breakfast were undercooked. We were at the resort for 10 days and one of our lunches we spotted a fly in the Chicken Gyros. We notified the chef who removed the dish and put it on the back, but being the restaurant was very close to closing (say 30 minutes) I do not believe a fresh tray was prepared and it was just put back out. Being so close to the sea, I expected a lot more fish dishes and some more fresh flavours. I believe at a 5* resort it’s about quality and not quantity. Blue Lagoon Village has a lot to choose from but the dishes are very much the same and are bulked up by vegetables. I would also expect at a 5* resort to be able to have Coca Cola/Real Lemonade and unwatered down drinks on offer. The orange juice is very artificial and again not what you would expect from a resort claiming to be 5*. The ham was very artificial and the fruit on offer was not as vast as I expected. A lemon on display in one of the jars was mouldy and was not removed. By no means is the hotel bad, and food is a personal preference, but it was a common complaint I heard. I believe a 4* rating is more fitting and being the resort is so vast, perhaps some adult only areas would help the guests who come as couples to not feel completely overwhelmed by children.
