Grecotel LUXME Kos

We travelled as a family of 3 with an 11 year old. The staff are very helpful and clearly wanted to help. The room was nice, yes some of the furniture and fixtures were a bit old but all worked and nothing that ruined our stay. There was a good TV in the room but no English Channels apart from the news, just would have been nice for a music channel or a family film channel for when you are back at the room chilling for a bit before going back out, rather than everyone on their phones or tablets. WiFi was very good throughout the hotel. The food was amazing, great choice, all restaurants were nice, however drink service at all restaurants was slow. Drink service at the pool bar was brilliant, branded drinks all made to a high standard. The beach bar was not as friendly, with the older man there (didn’t get his name) tutting and sending you away to wait by a sun bed for a drink to be brought to you, however if I was passing I didn’t see the issue with politely asking for a drink. During our stay, it became very busy in the 2nd week and that was clear as the sun bed issues started. You had to be up and by the pool by 7am to get a poolside sun bed. There was sometimes a member of staff with a clip board noting times of when people had not returned to their sun beds but nothing was done. Even when we come down at 7am many of the beds had been reserved with no one coming to them for many hours. This has to be addressed as this is the reason we would not return, it’s just not a holiday having to get up this early to be able to relax by the pool. There was new sun beds on the beach and lots of them, however when you have a child in the pool you want to be able to see them. Kos town, nice place to visit, just be patient when waiting for a taxi, as it can take 30mins plus for one to arrive and from the taxi rank on the way home will also be 30-45mins wait, no reflection on the hotel at all, just one of those things. Cost was €12 each way.

Not a 5* hotel, 4* at most. Not sure how Easyjet got away with this one and will be complaining when we return. We work hard all year and paid over budget for a special holiday (£5000) and to be brutally honest we feel robbed. Considering it's Greece, the food is awful. It's not clean, it's still dated, lots of things are broken, we can't get into any of the a la carte restaurants until the day we leave, there's a fight for sun beds and people have to sit on them from 7am to get a bed, the list is not exhaustive. So save yourself the heartache and book elsewhere for your hard earned cash.

I really don’t think this is a 5* hotel. The reception area, pool area etc is all very nice. But doesn’t compare to most of the 5* hotels we’ve stayed in as a family. The hotel rooms, especially the bathrooms are very dated. The hallways, lifts, doors, all very old and not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The pool areas are nice, and there’s plenty of room which is good. However the tiling could do with some updating. One important thing to note is there are barely any lifeguards. We saw one on their phone, paying no attention at all. A massive safety flaw during the summer holidays. No lifeguards round the kids pool AT ALL. The food is really quite bad, which is disappointing because it’s one of the things that sold us when reading reviews. The buffet by the pool is terrible. There’s not a lot of choice, especially for kids. I would really expect more for a 5* hotel. All the à la Carte restaurants were fully booked, we had to have a word with reception. The kids club was very basic, and not secure at all. It was basically a free for all. Very strange. Very hard to get a taxi on the Island, especially from the hotel. We had to wait an hour just to go into town. We’ve had a nice time but definitely wouldn’t come back. We stayed at the Mar-Bella Corfu last year which is a lot better than this. Again, I really don’t think you can Cass this as a 5* hotel, reviews online are very misleading.

The watersport was incredible! It was so cool and we had so much fun. It was really great that it was right here at the hotel and so easy to get to. The staff were very friendly, cool, and helpful. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something unique!
