We arrived at the hotel at around 2am due to a late flight and, unfortunately, our stay got off to a disappointing start. The night receptionist looked genuinely surprised to see us arrive. We had booked for three guests, but were initially only given two all-inclusive wristbands. After standing at reception waiting, we were eventually given the third. When we were shown to our room, we were immediately hit by an overwhelming smell of sewage. It was so strong it made our eyes water, even after opening the balcony door to try and air the room out. To make matters worse, the room had only been prepared for two guests despite our booking being for three. Naturally, we returned to reception, where we were told nothing could be done until the reception manager arrived the following morning. After only a few hours' sleep, we were abruptly woken by reversing and stationary trucks outside, with the noise continuing for several hours. which was a perfect alarm clock to speak to the duty manger. We were told the hotel was full , so changing rooms wasn't possible at that stage. We completely understand that availability can be limited, but we had hoped that more effort would be made to investigate or resolve the sewage smell. We appreciate that reception staff don't make the final decisions and that responsibility ultimately lies with management. We were told someone would assess the room and that we would receive an update via WhatsApp. As I write this review, that message has still never arrived. After waiting over seven hours with no communication, we went back to reception ourselves, only to find that nobody seemed to know anything about our issue. While we were waiting, maintenance arrived and eventually, after even more time at reception, a different receptionist managed to move us into another room. We were incredibly grateful for this. We were told it was the hotel's sole emergency room, only used in exceptional circumstances, which shows just how serious the issue with our original room must have been. The new room was beautiful, clean, and completely free of any unpleasant smell. Although it had again only been prepared for two guests, a quick call to reception resolved this immediately, and we were very pleased with how efficiently that was. When we checked in, we were advised to return two days before departure to arrange a late checkout. We did exactly that, ready to pay extra, only to be told it wasn't possible because the room had been allocated to someone else. Oddly enough, the exact same room was still available to book online that day. Even more confusing considering we'd previously been told it was an emergency-only room. Apparently emergencies can now be booked on the internet. This also seemed to contradict what we'd previously been told that the room was only ever used for emergencies. Instead, we had to settle for access to a shower room at 3:00pm despite not leaving for the airport until 8:30pm. On a much more positive note, the guest relations team were fantastic. Before we even arrived, they were incredibly helpful in arranging everything for a birthday celebration, and nothing seemed too much trouble. It was a lovely touch that really helped make the occasion special. The biggest positive of our stay was the front-of-house team in all the bars and restaurants as well as the room attendants. Every member of staff we encountered in those departments were friendly, attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. They provided the level of service you would expect from a five-star hotel and were a real credit to the resort. Unfortunately, the reception experience let the hotel down. My main criticism is not aimed at the reception staff themselves, as they were often left delivering decisions they had no authority over. Management should be far more visible and involved when handling guest complaints. Having reception staff act as the mouthpiece for poor communication and questionable decision-making is unfair on both the staff and the guests. Overall, the hotel has many positives, particularly the food and beverage teams, but our experience with reception and the handling of our room issues significantly impacted what should have been a relaxing holiday.

Efharistó! What an incredible stay at the Michelangelo Resort & Spa. We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing week here, and honestly, we couldn't fault a single thing. From the moment we arrived, the entire resort was immaculate. Every area was spotless, beautifully maintained, and a real credit to the hardworking team behind the scenes. The food was exceptional throughout our stay. Whether we were enjoying the à la carte restaurants or the all-inclusive buffet, every meal was fresh, delicious, beautifully presented, and served with genuine care. There was always plenty of choice, and the quality exceeded our expectations. The real highlight of our holiday, though, was the people. Every single member of staff we met was welcoming, friendly, and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They genuinely care about their guests, and it shows. A very special thank you to Helen (I apologise if I've spelt your name incorrectly). Thank you for patiently teaching me some Greek and helping me build my vocabulary throughout the week. You were always smiling, always happy to help, and you are truly a jewel in the crown of this wonderful resort. To everyone at the Michelangelo Resort & Spa, thank you for making our holiday so memorable. We wouldn't hesitate for a second to return and will happily recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality holiday in Kos. Efharistó, Salamat, Faleminderit, and thank you! We wish you all the very best for the rest of the season. We hope to see you again soon!

My wife, our two-year-old daughter and I visited the resort at the end of July. Initially, what struck me was how friendly and helpful the reception team were. We were taken to our junior suite, which was well presented and clean; and kept clean by friendly, competent and flexible cleaning staff. A few things stood out to us. First, was Suzanna, who worked in the restayurant. She was incredibly kind to our daughter and a genuinely nice person, and she made us feel very welcome. The high-quality food only added to the expertience she created. Second, both my wife and I used the spa. I had a massage from Cheryl who was very professional, really friendly and gave a great massage. Our impression of the spa was very good. Finally, the bar manager in the top bar was not only always very friendly, but very good at making cocktails! If I was to provide some constructive feedback, there would be three things: (1) on one occasion, a member of the bar team, who was clearly stressed, essentially asked me to get on with making my order, rather than asking how he was, which I felt was a bit disrespectful - something to wary of as I assume they would rather customers are pleasant; (2) it may be worth investing in some proper filter coffee or an espresso machine in the main restaurant, as the machine used does cheapen the experience somewhat - however, I do recognise that I value good coffee and others may not; (3) the pools were particularly cold - even increasing these a few degrees, would significantly improve the experience. I would rather have paid a bit more and have enjoyed using the pools a little more. However, this resort doesn't deserve less than five stars. The facilities are good, the food is brilliant and the staff are fantastic. I would definitely recommend.
