We loved the quality of their service

“Adults-only luxury resort” is the pitch. The reality is a perfectly decent four-star hotel that has convinced itself, and occasionally its guests, that it is something more. The staff are the hotel’s strongest asset, though also its most inconsistent one. Some genuinely go above and beyond — the names repeatedly praised in glowing reviews are clearly carrying much of the experience the brand promises. Others seem to operate with a kind of ambient indifference: technically present, but not especially engaged. The gap is wide enough that your stay depends heavily on which version of the team you encounter. The building is also starting to show its age. Nothing catastrophic, but enough to undermine the five-star claim: slow bar service, breakfast below the level suggested by the marketing, and small maintenance details left visible for too long. The glossy infinity-pool photos do a lot of work, but they cannot hide everything. The real issue, however, is the guest profile. This hotel markets itself as refined, calm and exclusive, yet the atmosphere often feels closer to a mass-package holiday resort. Loud, careless guests in football shirts, “wife beater” vest tops and beach-bar clothing do not create a five-star environment, however hard the better staff try. It is also difficult to ignore the apparent pricing imbalance. UK package guests appear to be paying significantly less — in some cases less than half of what continental European guests are charged. That kind of pricing strategy may fill rooms, but it also explains the disconnect between the hotel’s luxury positioning and the clientele it attracts. You cannot sell five-star discretion to one market while discounting heavily to another and then expect the atmosphere to remain elegant. The result is not a bad hotel. It is a tired, over-billed one: four-star comfort, four-star consistency, and a five-star invoice. The staff who genuinely care deserve better support, better standards and, frankly, a guest profile more aligned with the hotel’s own marketing. If you want genuine five-star discretion, calm and consistency, this is not it. If you want a nice pool, decent facilities and do not mind rolling the dice on service and neighbours, it will probably do.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The location was convenient, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.

Good staff, wrong atmosphere — and a rather confused idea of luxury The hotel clearly tries. The manager and staff deserve credit: they are polite, professional and make a visible effort to create a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, they are working against the very atmosphere the hotel itself appears to have created. This is marketed as a five-star, adults-only luxury resort, but in reality it feels much closer to a mass-market package-holiday hotel with a good view. The overall guest profile, particularly during our stay, was heavily skewed towards a loud UK package-tour crowd, which made the environment feel far removed from anything calm, elegant or refined. One had hoped Brexit might have reduced the volume of this particular style of British holidaymaking in Europe. Strangely, the opposite seems to have happened here. The hotel appears to have embraced volume over refinement — and the result is not luxury, but organised mass tourism with better branding. The pool areas and shared spaces were often loud and inconsiderate, with smoking, poor manners, careless dress and very little sense of discretion. A luxury hotel is not created by buildings, pools and marketing language alone. The guests matter. Atmosphere matters. Standards matter. The dress-code policy was also something of a mystery. On one occasion, guests were allowed into restaurants wearing football shirts, casual shorts and beach sandals, including in the supposedly “finer” areas (which are garage like areas under the pool area that supply different cuisines (Italian, fish and Asian food from kitchen hatches not proper restaurants). At other times, perfectly smart men’s leather sandals were suddenly deemed unacceptable. The lack of consistency was difficult to understand and rather undermined the idea that the hotel has any clear standard at all. The real issue is not the staff. They are trying. The issue is that the hotel seems to attract — and perhaps actively market to — a clientele that is not aligned with a discreet five-star environment. That makes it almost impossible to deliver the atmosphere the hotel promises. In the end, I think we simply chose the wrong hotel. This is not the place for travellers looking for calm service, good food, refined surroundings, beautiful views and a genuinely elegant atmosphere. The staff are good, and the hotel has potentia, but the overall experience is dragged down by a mass-market atmosphere that feels closer to a low-grade holiday factory than a luxury resort. For guests seeking true five-star refinement, discretion and consistency, I would look elsewhere.
