Just returned from this hotel and, sadly, it was a real disappointment. My partner was ill from the second day — constantly vomiting. The food was okay but very repetitive, with the same choices every day. Glasses in the Belvedere bar were only rinsed by hand — no dishwasher to sanitise them. The room itself was fine, but daily cleaning wasn’t up to scratch; used cups weren’t replaced, and tea, coffee, milk, and sweeteners weren’t replenished. The lifts were far too small for the number of guests — so much so that I refused to get in with anyone I didn’t know. You could literally feel other people’s breath on you — yuk. Five flights of stairs a few times a day was taxing! The beach was dirty, and the loungers were a joke. Entertainment was okay at best. On a positive note, Marie in the restaurant was absolutely delightful — friendly, helpful, and welcoming every day 👌. The same goes for Janika in the Belvedere bar. Sadly, they were the only real highlights of this hotel. I’ll certainly not be returning and honestly couldn’t recommend it to anyone else ☹️
The Rhodes Horizon Resort it a nice complex comprising of two major buildings. The hotel is nice and kept clean and in a good location on the beach on the north west side of the island. Good views looking out across the sea with Turkey in the distance although the rooms facing inland have a view of a street which has some construction work going on. The rooms are well kept and spacious and easy to locate on arrival. The food at the hotel is of a good standard with a wide variety of choice but the service is often slow with many of the staff being inattentive. This being said two members of their team standout for going above and beyond ( Dora and Litsa are very guest focussed and an asset to the hotel,) . There is a choice of three pools and the town is within easy walking distance.
Great hotel and super staff working there . Plenty of good choices and enough sun beds to go round . Plenty to see and visit on the old town and the beaches were superb
An excellent hotel. Clean. Well equipped. Close to local sights and within walking distance of old town. Breakfasts - a huge variety and selection of hot and cold food. Staff- pleasant and helpful. Only downside is that the floors in the hotel can be dangerously slippery in wet weather.
I thought long and hard on this review. Booking was very smooth and offered welcome glass of bubbles. Went to our room, which was on second floor 238 above Belvedere bar. Room was nice and spacious but blocked by a huge tree growing near balcony. Couldn’t sit on balcony as twigs from tree were touching you in the wind. Also lots of wasps around the tree so I suspect a nest! So couldn’t use balcony or have balcony doors open. Asked for a move, told fully booked, and would not be possible till Monday at the earliest. This was Saturday, we were booked for 11 nights. That night wind got up and couldn’t sleep because twig’s banging on doors. Finally on Monday after two nights of poor sleep. We got our move to opposite building! Well I wish we hadn’t bothered! Room 201 Less storage space, nice enough room. But it was so noisy! We was roughly above the kitchens, noise would start 5 to 6 am, maids start their cleaning and shout to each other up and down the corridors. Kitchen staff and another staff members gathering two floors below under our balcony for smoke breaks, giving us a strong smell of cigarettes if on balcony or having doors open . No view as such just overlooking hotel behind them . The noise from the road between the hotels was terrible. Cars racing up and down but a lot of human activity with screaming shouting. And general noise. A good night sleep Was not had during 11 days. Was told by reception that any move would be still inland, and could not be upgraded to front even if paid. Big positive was the restaurant majority of food was amazing. Especially cold starters at lunch and dinner. Lack of clear labels at lunch . When I ask guy who looked like manager, I was told they were not needed at lunch. Maybe tell that to someone with food allergies or vegetarian. In sayng how good the food was, avoid the soup it is like mildly flavoured hot water The only decent one was asparagus. The chicken soup was like.Hot water with lumps of bone, gristle and skin. Lifts are terrible, too small for purpose. Pool area, decent enough Always managed to get a sunbed when wanted. Staff helpful and polite. Except one young waiter in dining room. On only late breakfast we had, 9.15am there were no coffee cups, when I asked i was met with shrug and told there wasn’t any because we was late. Even though breakfast service ended at 10am! Beach was a disgrace litter and cigarette butts all over. Didn’t see any cleaning of beach even though was meant to be a priva beach. Worse part was smoking policy! Smoking outside main doorways and beside pool on sun beds. I have never been to a hotel where smoking allowed on sun beds before. Great location for old town, mostly fantastic food. But too noisy and Smokey for me! Would not return sadly.
