Sheraton Rhodes Resort

Nice view from top floors. Service mostly very good. Rooms a little dated. Breakfast average. Overall, room for improvement.

We have been going to Rhodes for over 25 years and this year we decided to go to the Sheraton Rhodes Resort and it was fantastic. Everything was a step up from previous hotels and experiences on the island. All the staff were very helpful with reception being able to provide good information and answers to our questions. The dining experience was geat, a special mention to Demitri for looking after us during our stay. Not only a great waiter but fun to talk to, his English is very good and he could not have looked after us any better. Other mentions go to Gerorge, Demitri's brother, and also George and George the management in the resaurant. Nothing was a problem to any of them and they all looked after us aking time for a chat. They all made our holiday! The hotel itself has been built upside down, by that I mean that you enter the hotel on the 7th floor where reception is and then the restaurants are on the 6th with the rooms from the 5th floor down. This gave us the highlight of sitting on the 6th floor restaurant every morning looking across to Turkey with an uninterrupted view, a great way to start the day. Another good thing about the hotel is that they have a private beach area and this is accessible via a tunnel under a busy road that we always had to navigate when staying at previous hotels. The food in the restaurant was spread scross different areas so you never felt like you were queuing for long at each station. The food itself was very good, very fresh and always had a selection of Greek options and especially Greek deserts. Finally our room was very nice, we had a sea view room which may be a bit bigger but had a great view, a huge bed and an amazing shower!! Rooms were cleaned every day and the room was always clean and very comfortable. In a final summary recommended and if you can find Demitri's station go there to be looked after and entertained for your holiday.

Overview - This is a 5 star hotel on paper. It seems it has done the bear minimum to meet the standard required. But there are no little touches of luxury or anything outstanding to make it shine. No bathrobes in rooms, no drink included with your evening meal, Only Demitri and Georgio ( I think that was there names) in the restaurant made any attempt at exchanging pleasantries with you and they were always laughing and interacting with guests. There was a power cut one day, yet no information was given by staff as to the fact that there was no hot food for breakfast including toast. How long it was going last etc. Also there was talk of a strike which would have effected the airports and buses but again no mention of this. Providing information for guest are the things that I would expect of a top branded hotel. Location - Just under an hour from the airport. Hour and half walk into Rhodes town along the beach or public bus (stop right outside hotel) takes about half hour. The bus is really easy just catch the one that says city centre (cost 2.50 Euros Adult on bus from bus kiosk in town 1.80) You catch the bus back from the same place. The return bus gets busy at around 3/4pm with pick up from some of the other hotels (staff finishing their shift). Reception has a timetable ( which again only found out after enquiring about the bus stop, nice if this was given to us upon arrival) Beach/pools - Easy to get to the beach using the underpass -plenty of loungers, bar and toilets. It can be windy. The pool area always had loungers available around the big main pool in the afternoon. The kids pool and one next to it does get busy. The pool entertainment can be loud. Rooms - They are tired looking and have huge black marks all over the floor. Spacious and the bathroom was clean. We had a pool facing room which got the sun late afternoon. Beds very comfortable with two types of pillows. Food, drink - Food was ok with a good choice in the buffet. Did not eat in the others as the menus I found unappealing. I have a seafood intolerance but I found the buffet had something to eat each night. Drinks were expensive even for a 5 star hotel. On one night the pasta was cold and horrible and the last night the staple Pasta and bolognaise (which was there every evening) was tasteless. Improvements - Restaurant - Separate dishes more with zones for meat, fish and veg (for those who have allergies). Drinks better value, as most people only had soft drinks which were the cheapest. If prices were more reasonable more people would order more drinks. More information displayed and communicated to guests. Some display boards at the restaurant entrance and by the lifts would be helpful. Reception evening staff to be more accommodating, helpful. Treat all guests the same. As I noticed when we were leaving reception staff in early evening were giving lots of information to new arrivals - which is something we did not get (only the key and direction to our room)

I stayed in Sheraton Rhodos for 5 days. Great place to stay and to relaxed. In october the hotel was full booked. The breakfast and diner was great . The service was excellent. All the personel and for me Dimitri was the guy who know what service is. His kindness, attention, the way he serve. I love the way he served me every morning and evening. Thanks to him and the others personel, I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is a good stay for. The beds were good, cleaning was good. You have a lounge area and a pool nearby for the qiuet moments. Overall a good stay for couple stays. Supermakt in walking distance. Busstop in front of the hotel for a ride to the old town. Or walking appr. 30 min.

We had a week at the beginning of October - half board - and overall enjoyed our week, and the facilities .. pool, private beach, sauna etc were all good. BUT it may be useful to share our mixed experiences. The room (Panoramic View) was fine, a balcony and nicely enough equipped. BUT the bed was a king size (actually 2 zip-linked singles) and the bottom sheets weren't big enough, they didn't tuck under the mattress so wrinkled through the night and the bedding was really noisy!! The buffet dining was ok. The breakfast was plentiful, loads of choice and on the whole very good. BUT there was a conference there for a few days and the restaurant was sometimes hectic to say the least ... on one occasion we were queuing for ten minutes before we could get in. Dinner choices were also wide ranging, from salads to very nice cake/ pastries and other dessert options BUT hot selections were generally tepid if not actually cold. And a minor issue but a bit irritating, the hotel is on 12 levels but lifts only work for half of those 12 - 6 and 7 -0. So going from our 12th floor room to the pools/beach and the local restaurants and bars ( all at floor 1) meant a 2 lift trip.
