Contessina Suites

From the moment I arrived that the Contessina Suites and Spa I was treated like a VIP. I arrived with my partner a little late in the evening after a flight delay, however the staff greeted us even at that late hour which such kindness and joy. We really felt welcomed and it was a fantastic first impression. Check in was smooth and efficient, complete with a welcome drink and plenty of smiles. We were personally shown to our room which was spacious, modern and very clean. There was plenty of cupboard and drawer space for our 10 night stay, and a mini fridge in the room which although isn’t the largest, is perfect for a few bottles of water and wine. A great feature of the hotel is that the rooms are cleaned and refreshed twice daily. Once for a full clean (replace bed sheets, clean the Shower & W/C, etc), and again in the evening to replace towels (if used) so they’re fresh for the morning. The room we stayed in (private pool room) did have a bit of an odd layout where as soon as you entre the sinks (his & hers, which is great) are right there in front of you. So if someone’s using them when the other person comes in, there’s a chance they could hit by the door. The shower is large and has a rain head and a wand attachment. It’s worth noting this room type did not have a bath tub. The outside space consisted of a small plunge pool and a laying area with a thick mat on. The mat area is a little snug for two people and is just a simple mat that can’t be adjusted. The main pool is a very peaceful and relaxing area, though there is a lot of competition for seating due to limited sun beds as well as different areas getting sun at different times of the day. There’s a variety of seating options; a line of flat mats built into the architecture of the resort, a line of bean-bag style sun beds, a group of traditional sun beds with comfortable thick pads on, and a few larger round bean bags. Personally, I prefer the traditional sunbeds as they can be adjusted to suit different seating/laying positions, however these only received the sunshine later in the day. The resort has an app (called ‘Contessina Collection’), which allows you to order a large variety of food and drink directly to your sunbed. Plus the food here is really good too, so no need to really move at all if you don’t want to. My only real gripe with this hotel is the pool temperature. None of them seem to be heated at all. So if the air temperature is cooler (it was around 24C when we stayed), then the pools become unusable for me. And I suspect many other people too, as I saw only a few brave souls fully get in. It’s a shame since a comfortable pool is high on my list of priorities for a resort, and so if it’s too cold to actually enjoy, then it tends to take a large chunk out of the general enjoyment of the resort. It was unfortunately the same situation in the private room pool, as well as the spa pool. All too cold to enjoy to me and my partner, bringing the total number of comfortable pool experiences in the resort to zero. To be fair to the resort, people’s tolerance for pool temperature can vary widely, and there’s nothing on their website which states they’re heated or at least maintained at a certain minimum temperature. So although for me this was a slight downer on the otherwise perfect resort, your milage may vary. At the very least, someone reading this might be interested to know and base their choice to stay here on that aspect. The jewel in the crown of this resort is most certainly the staff. Everyone I encountered was happy, polite, professional, and quick to deliver exceptional service. The hosts and servers at breakfast (Sofia, Maria & Stravros) greeted us each morning with a smile and delightful conversation, and quickly learned our names, room number and our coffee order. And it was a real pleasure see them each morning. Likewise, Marieta on the front desk, along with Emilia started strong greeting us when we arrived, and always gave a big smile and a wave when ever I walked by. Plus they were super quick to sort out any issues with the room, or anything else we might need. The hiring program and training at this resort is excellent and it shows with the quality of service they deliver. The location of the resort is also excellent, and one of the main reasons we chose it. A short 3-minute walk to the beach, as well as lots of shops, bars and restaurants also within easy walking distance. It’s quite a touristy area however, so if you want to experience more of the island, you’ll probably want to hire a car. There is a Gym on site, though be warned, it’s small and the equipment is limited. Plus it opens at 10am, which I did think was a little strange for a spa gym since many people like to work out at the start of the day (perhaps not here I guess). You can however, us the gym at the sister hotel (Contessina Hotel, a short 3 minute walk around the corner) which is a little lager and opens earlier. The Spa is a very nice area, and my partner and I treated ourselves to a back and neck massage. The experience was fantastic, and Cloudia really delivered a relaxing and enjoyable treatment. In summary, this is a really excellent spa resort in a lively town with exceptional staff, good food and modern and clean look.

Stunning hotel, beautiful ambiance and sensational food... Me and my husband had a wonderful stay at the Contessina Suites and Spa the staff were all extremely friendly, the rooms were smart and kept very clean, selection of food was great. The morning provided a buffet as well as a menu choice, lunch menu had a variety of things to choose from and the dinner was phenomenal, a 4 course meal (we went half board) which was altered to cater for my gluten allergy. Finding somewhere with choice and that I trust with my allergy and that it is taken seriously is crucial to having a relaxed time on holiday. A special shout out to Stavros - Captain, Arsid - F&B Manager, Sofia, Humberto, Alexis and (sorry didn't get the name of the lady behind the bar most evenings, has a plait and half Irish). Everyone worked so perfectly in sync to make the experience flawless. Having worked in hospitality before I understand that an establishment is only as good as it's staff and with this team they made it look effortless.

Really great experience! Alexandra who was my massage therapist made me feel very comfortable throughout and I just about fell asleep. And the pressure was awesome omg like I actually felt anew. The facilities are tidy and welcoming, as are the staff. We were lost initially and everyone helped us get to where we needed to be (despite us being late).
