Domes Aulus Zante, Autograph Collection

Just arrived yesterday and it is truly beautiful. Christos from guest relations booked all our à la carts as soon as we checked in he’s for passionate about his job explaining everything we needed to know. We had a problem with our fridge and within an hour it was fixed even got a call from Christos today to make sure all was well with our holiday and the fridge. Service and food in the buffet is excellent all the staff are smiling and eager to help with anything you need. Drinks are all top quality with great table service at the main bar. So pleased we chose this hotel will update my review at the end of the week with photos of this tranquil hotel.

This place is magical! From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, the service was superb. The staff are consistently, happy, friendly and attentive, including the lovely lady who cleaned our room. From the beautiful fragrance on the stairs to the amazing sea front views, perfect. There were always plenty of sunbeds by the pool, and on the beach. The food was of a high standard and plentiful, and the à la carte restaurants were a special treat. Although close to lively resorts, Domes Aulus was peaceful and relaxing. Considering that all our food and drink needs were catered for, and there were little extras like free towels by the pool every day and lovely toiletries in our rooms, I feels that our holiday was good value for money. Can’t wait to go back!

Strange hotel this, we stayed for 4 nights on a family holiday. Rooms are bog standard, nothing to get excited about. First night we went to the buffet, nobody to greet you or show you to a table so we found our own table and waited patently for someone to come and take our drinks order. Nobody came, we realised you just help yourself. The same for breakfast, no greeting or kalispera, just get on with it and sort yourself out. I think the hotel loses something for this lack of Greek hospitality. The pool area is good, we never struggled to find a sunbed and the grab and go fridge was nice too. All in all the stay was ok, the drinks were good, food at the buffet ok however, part of the price we paid for the holiday includes the use of the al a carte restaurants which were fully booked the whole of our stay so we couldn’t use something we had paid for. Hence the poor rating. The restaurants never looked busy so I don’t understand how they were constantly fully booked, I can only surmise that as it is cheaper for the hotel if guests eat at the buffet rather than have food cooked to order, the hotel deliberately steers guests to the buffet by falsely claiming the al a carte restaurants are fully booked.

Great looking hotel and the staff were very friendly and proffessional. The room we stayed in was the tropical cozy suite and was perfect for me and my mum as we both had our own bathroom and seperate bedrooms. This gave us our own privacy. The only downside to the hotel is that there is no music or entertainment at the pool eg aqua areobics or pool polo at the pool and the entertainment at night could be better and perhaps finish at 11pm rather than it ending at 9.30pm or 10pm. The food at the buffet was often cold and the meat overcooked. The a la carte resatuarants, however were really good, although portion sizes a bit big for us. Also be ready for all the tip requests as after every meal( apart from breakfast) as soon as you've finished 1 course a pen and bad is left asking for a tip! It gets a bit much as we paid a lot for our holiday and have never experienced this before. Also, last point, can more information on the island be provided by the hotel and what experiences can be had along with being told about the complimentary trips to town as I had to ask about this

Firstly, this is an objective view of our experience at this hotel. This was the first time we had visited Zante we usually go to Kefalonia. Some positives to start with - The staff - very friendly, helpful, hard-working Our room was lovely always cleaned really well with a fab view It was our 25th wedding anniversary during the trip and they left us a lovely cake and some bubbles The food - yes it could be a bit repetitive but it was of a high standard and we enjoyed it. Good quality drinks lovely seating area outside the bar Loved the peacock in the grounds Although the gardens are somewhat barren they are obviously trying hard to cultivate the areas with plants and shrubs Areas for improvement The pool - too small for a hotel this size Too many unruly children running around outside the buffet restaurant and wrecking the plants (not the hotels fault but still annoying) This is never a 5 star hotel - possibly 4 at a push The area - again not the hotels fault but Laganas is hideous steer well clear The beach area (in the hotel not the bit with the turtles) untidy, dirty, needs sorting out The buffet restaurant needed more regular cleaning - showing signs of wear and tear kids throwing food everywhere. Overall for what we paid you couldn't really expect more, you get what you pay for. I would not revisit Zante, just didn't like it - not much to do and not particularly scenic compared to other places in Greece. I also would not go back to any hotel that's not adults only. You just could not get in the pool for kids and inflatables. We thought it would be quiet because of school holidays etc, but we were wrong. But again, the staff were great.
