TUI BLUE Caravel Resort & Spa

Loved our two week stay at TUI Blue Caravel. The hotel was beautiful along with the location and views. The vibe of the hotel was very chilled. Positives as follows: no getting up early for a sun lounger, food was excellent and plenty of choice every day, yummy cocktails day and night, staff friendly and attentive especially Adrian the waiter by the activity pool he was fantastic thank you, room was lovely and clean lovely view from our balcony and finally one of best experiences was going on a boat excursion and was lucky enough to see a loggerhead turtle! Only negative was the evening entertainment it was not to our taste but loved the silent disco evening but appreciate trying to accommodate everyone’s tastes in entertainment would be difficult but the local town was within walking distance with lots of bars, shops and restaurants. We absolutely loved our stay at the Caravel and will definitely be returning!

This is our second visit to this Hotel in as many years and sadly the Caravel is not by any stretch of the imagination 5 star, with standards having slipped. The positives are that the vast majority of the staff work exceptionally hard to make sure you enjoy your holiday, food is very good, with an excellent choice, same with drinks, including cocktails and branded spirits. The negatives are that the hotel is tired, the rooms, small and basic, bird droppings on balconies, meaning you cannot sit outside. Tried to book the à la carte restaurant on arrival, only to be advised it was full for the duration of our stay? We sat on sunbeds directly behind the pool bar and not once were we offered a drink, sadly this is our experience second year in a row. No bottled water, instead only tap water, with the frequently used excuse about saving the environment, come on, it is all about saving the bottom line on the balance sheet.

I went up the spa and had a ritual including a scrub, wrap and massage. Nora was my therapist. Although she was very professional and did a good job, I have not got the soft nourished skin I would have expected hence why I have changed my review. I did raise it but they just said they would keep it in mind? Having a facial in a few days and am a little worried now. It’s an ok spa but not 5 stars.

Pros: We stayed for 7 nights mid May. Reception area was very clean and the hotel is very aesthetic in most areas. Food was 10/10, i enjoyed every meal i had. The pool / beach restaurant is where we went for lunch everyday, the food here was amazing. The buffet food for breakfast and dinner was also great, lots of choice and is probably the best all inclusive food i’ve had at a hotel. The drinks were also very nice some of the cocktails though weren’t to our taste but stuck with what we knew and liked, a pina colada! The room was cleaned everyday very well and the cleaner for our room was very lovely and friendly. Never struggled to find a sun-bed and the hotel did seem quite busy, we went down a bit earlier in the morning to get the sunbeds on the pool. Service was good, only some nights were a little slower on service, but the hotel was quite busy nearer the end of our stay as it was entering peak season. Cons- The room itself definitely needed upgrading and wouldn’t say was a 5 star standard room. We booked this holiday about 6 weeks prior and did get a good deal price wise, so i’m wondering if that’s why we were given this particular room…If i had paid what some prices i have seen recently for a weeks stay here with the same room, i wouldn't be satisfied. The bathroom door didn’t shut closed and various areas of the room, and the whole block itself, was in need of some TLC. We had booked a partial sea view room where we could very slightly see the sea from our room when looking to the left on the balcony. The room was mainly overlooking the front of the street that the hotel is on, and each night there was noise from the local pubs and bars which would go on till about 12am. We didn’t mind this too much, however it’s something to keep in mind and be aware of if you’re booking a partial sea view, that you could potentially get this room or the same block - I think it would be worth upgrading to a sea view as these rooms seem further away from the street from what we saw. Overall, a fabulous holiday and would return if the price was right again!
