Hotel Palace Viareggio

Simply wonderful hotel. The staff were so lovely. Breakfast is wonderful, so much choice. My best friend and I came to stay for a Jet2 holiday. I was so impressed. They are also linked to the beach bistro La Pace where you then get vouchers for sun loungers for the day. That bistro is also amazing g and a must as part of your holiday. We were half board so dinner was included in the guest dining room. We did that the first night, although the food was lovely the menu is restricted and only changes every 3 days. You felt a bit hidden away and we wanted to mingle with other guests more. We decided to have dinner on the roof terrace every night after that. As you are half board you get €35 per person discount for eating on the roof terrace restaurant. That is an absolute must. We had such lovely evening up there. It is worth the extra money for a beautiful setting and a lovely evening meal. Hotel location is perfect and Viareggio is lovely. Train not far to walk to. We did a day trip to Portofino. I can’t recommend that enough. Direct train is possible to Santa margarita (IC train 1:46 hours) then a 15 min boat trip to Portofino. Very easy journey

Perfect beach vacation week. Everything you need in walking or bike reach

Just back from a holiday to Viareggia and the Hotel Palace. Never been before and went with no expectations. The Hotel - right on the main street; elegant and classy. Right near the park and beaches, 15mins walk from the train station. The room we had had a sewerage smell in the bathroom and so we ran the fan most of the time. It wasnt too bad, so we didnt complain. The raindrop shower didnt work; There was no rubber bath mat so showering was like standing on an ice rink and water went everywhere. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. There was noise from the street and next doors room. The staff were amazing, from those on the front desk, dining room/breakfast and room maids. Friendly, helpful, just superb. There is an upstairs terrace bar with amazing views though this had private functions on at times. Drinks were expensive compare to local bars. The food; The Italians seem to like their meat rare; this was an issue at times as we had to return beef and tuna which were very undercooked for our tastes. Overall, the food was excellent - but expect pea shoots as a decoration with every course! As for Viareggia, it is huge. One long strip of shops and bars. What I couldnt get my head around, was that all the beaches are private. You have to pay to go on the beach and rent an umbrella and sunbeds. On our first day there, the company used - La Pace, had no idea of this. There is a public beach past the docks but its a long walk and rammed with locals. Also confusing was the hotel beach towel process. It is £3 euro to 'hire' a towel. But one of the receptionists gave out wrong information saying that we would be charged a daily rate for each towel. We ended up hiring one towel and kept it for the duration. Furthermore, there is a Jet2 'deal' if you are half board, whereby you usually eat in the dining room downstairs, but can eat on the roof terrace with an 'allowance of £30 euros per person'. Anything over and you pay. It really wasn't clear at the time and all rather confusing. Misc; Pisa airport; upon arrival we were straight through to a private minibus with another couple; However the driver drove at breakneck speed to the hotels which was pretty scary. Jet2 staff were great at the airport. Upon return, the coach arrived on time; at the departures it was absolute bedlam with long queues and people everywhere. Flights both ways were great with good cabin staff. On the whole, an amazing holiday - very expensive when you tot up the total cost plus drinks and tourist tax which must be paid before you leave. The hotel is definitely recommended, and if you do what we did and travel around by train (Lucca, Florence, Pisa, Cingue Terre, Pietrasanta) then you see much nicer place than Viareggia which to me was just a huge concrete mess with perfectly lined umbrells on the private beaches.

We had the most amazing 4 x night stay at the Palace Hotel. From the moment we arrived until we left we were made to feel very welcome by every member of the team there. The service was personal, friendly and professional, I honestly can’t remember the last time I had such a genuine welcome. The hotel location is prime and central with shops and restaurants near by, the beach and lidos just across the road. We stayed in a delux room with balcony and side sea views - our very spacious bedroom and bathroom were beautifully appointed with crisp white linens and towels. It was such a lovely touch to be given complimentary flip flops and a beach bag for the beach with beach towels at our disposal. Each day we enjoyed a complimentary bottle of water and when we returned each evening the turndown service left us a little chocolate treat. The breakfast choice was vast and plentiful, it was such a relaxed atmosphere, the breakfast room was stunning with large chandeliers, as was all the decor and fittings around the hotel .. transporting us back to an era of opulence. It was spectacular to watch the sunset each evening from the roof top terrace enjoying lovely drinks and snacks. We had a fabulous stay and the Palace hotel, it exceeded our expectations. It is the consistent friendly, genuine service from every team member that makes this hotel so special - we cannot wait to return.

Our wonderful vacation started the moment we arrived at the hotel, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of Francesca at Reception. She was extraordinarily kind, welcoming, and supportive. Francesca personally walked us through the hotel, showed us all the facilities, explained everything in detail, and even accompanied us to our room, where our luggage had already been delivered. Her professionalism and warmth made us feel at home from the very first moment. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. The selection was outstanding, starting with a variety of excellent coffees and real tea leaves—not just tea bags—with choices including green, black, and herbal teas. There was an impressive assortment of delicious salami, cheeses, sweet and savory pastries, fresh fruits and vegetables, scrambled eggs, bacon, and much more. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Our room was lovely, spotless, and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the balcony and the incredibly comfortable bed, which ensured restful nights throughout our stay. The breathtaking terrace with its beautiful sea view was truly unforgettable. Combined with the excellent food and wine, it created the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the Italian atmosphere. Viareggio itself is a beautiful destination, and this hotel made our experience even more special. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area, and we are already looking forward to returning in the future. Thank you for making our vacation so memorable!
