Torretta Hotel

This is a family run hotel and the family themselves and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was clean and our room of good size, the pool was a bonus although very cold, the spa tub was great to relax in after exploring. It’s a good distance from the train station where you can go to Florence and Pisa and the train tickets weren’t very expensive. As much as we liked the position of the hotel and the staff were excellent, the average age of the visitors to this hotel is 70+ which of course isn’t a problem but in our 40s we stuck out like a sore thumb and felt a bit out of place. The breakfast was very average and quite boring. The bar prices were reasonable but the bar is extremely basic. There is one bar man at night that isn’t Italian, not sure what nationality he is but he was very unwelcoming, like we were a nuisance asking him for drinks, huffing and just generally miserable, we were going to just stay in one night and get a drink there, but he was so grumpy we decided to go back out, he let the other staff down.

Excellent service, clean rooms. lovely hotel, pool area etc. Staff, from maids to owners, all went the extra mile, very friendly and helpful. Food was great. Location is good - close to the station with affordable links to Pisa, Lucca, Florence and the coast at viareggio. Tettuccio, Montecatini Alto and the funicular railway are among highlights of our stay. Not enough space here to express how good this holiday was. Highly recommended as a place to stay in a family run hotel. Truly authentic.

What an amazing hotel we found to celebrate our Anniversary. From the welcoming moment we arrived the staff could not have made us feel more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble from any staff member. The room was basic but had everything you needed including a comfy bed. It would have been nice to have had tea making facility in the room but thats just the only minus I can comment on. Breakfast offers a variety of foods from cold meats, to cereals, eggs and bacon and pastries. If your booked in for dinner there is a different menu every night offering a choice of foods to please even the fussyest of pellets. There is a small pool but be warned its cold water but the jacuzzi on the side was a welcome in the evening after a busy day exploring. The hotel is about a 15min to 20min walk from the train station and a 5min walk to the funicular that goes upto an anazjng town that looks over the whole of Tuscany. You are also a 10min walk from the spa and many armttractions A great long weekend And a memorable one was had and would recommend this hotel.

Do not book hotel with half board. We travelled with a group and the evening meal was very poor. Salads were displayed on a table without any refrigeration and repeated every day. Chicken & Beef portions are very thinly sliced and you can almost see through them. If you ask for a second helping, this is refused. Forget about any allergies because the food is brought to your table without asking and this happened every day despite pre-ordering our choice everyday during breakfast. Pool is green in colour and not inviting at all.

The staff of Hotel Tourette were friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and warm. My husband had dietary restrictions which they gladly accommodated and we so appreciated. The rooms were spotless, with lots of extra blankets, and balconies. Breakfasts were amazing in the variety of foods presented in a buffet style, with fresh fruit, pastries, various coffees and teas, boiled eggs , scrambled eggs, bacon, granola, yoghurts, breads and cheeses and sliced meats, jams, tomato’s, grapes, tarts, cakes. Every morning I had something different. Its location near the Spa and the Fenicular was very convenient and also wonderful for walking in the pretty park or to the market, or center of town and the train. You can easily get to the coast or to Florence from here without dealing with crowds of tourists. It’s quiet except in the mornings when you can hear the other guests getting out earlier than you. There is a lovely lounge area for gathering in the evening or quiet reading. The pool is cold and the hot tub is warm and not super hot. I would go back again for the service, convenient location, quiet, and charm. As an artist the nearby small villages and fortresses were wonderful as painting subjects.
