Samsara Cliff Resort

After we had a long transfer ( around 2 hours) we arrived at Samsara, greeted lovely by the reception and off to our rooms in minutes and told us to go to drop our stuff into the room and go for dinner.Only been there a few minutes and we felt right at home. I know a lot of reviews are up and down, for us it was perfect, it’s more traditional and a little rough around the edges, but we loved it. It was just us. I can see why people don’t like it in the respect that they were expecting more luxury ( we knew it wasn’t that kind of place) and can also see why people return year after year. Food. The big issue for some people. Actually thought the food was superb for a little all inclusive, always freshly cooked, it can get a little repetitive as can any all inclusive and there was times that I probably didn’t fancy what was on offer on a particular night ( only four options inc rice) but certainly not nice, also people were a little shocked it got served to you rather than help yourself, again thought this was great, people not having hands all over the food and not piling their plates up unlike bigger hotels. Also you can go back for more if you want, which seemed to confuse some people!!! . Breakfast was excellent, didn’t do lunch much , but enjoyed what we had, dinner was also excellent ( soups were fabulous). Rooms Well certainly no issues there, perfectly clean and the bed was so comfortable. Only thing was the black out curtains were in need of replacing/ cleaning. Pools We were right outside the infinity pool, for us the best pool although the main pool was more popular, never a sun bed issue, perfect. Also you had the option to jump into the sea off the cliffs or go down the ladders, just perfect. Legends hotel You had the shuttle bus that went down to legends at 10 am every morning, sometimes 2 trips were needed, the hotel was quirky, but set on the stunning 7 mile beach, only downside was the sunbeds were cramped together and not in the greatest condition, but it was more than adequate and a nice change from the cliffs. Staff Just about every member of staff were welcoming, happy to go out of there way for you , Kim, Charm and Tina ( trouble) were just 3 we had a lot of time for, there was many more but can’t remember there names atm. Oh and the rum punch is rather strong as I found out one day to my cost!!!! Haha ( yes you Tina). Summery For what we paid from to uk we loved it, we love Jamaica and loved Negril, would we return YES definitely. It’s not for everyone so do your research. Thank you Samsara we will return, we miss you all

Don’t waste your money.. we felt threatened and unsafe the entire week

First the good. If you’re looking for a resort that has more of an authentic flavour for food this is a good place. Georgia runs a smooth ship and keeps the line moving! She is amazing! It is quiet resort and has great views. It’s a treat to be able to go out at 10 and still find a spot in the shade. The swimming off the cliff is great on a calm day. Tina and Kimeiko are amazing servers and were always smiling! Their service was top notch. I cant say enough about these ladies! The gardeners were amazing at keeping the gardens of this place looking great and helping with the hurricane rebuild. (Melvin and George) they answered so many questions i had about the tropical plants that i am (trying) to grow back home. Lol. Now sadly the bad. It’s not a 3 star. More like 1.5 on a good day. As nice as some staff are, some are horrible. Towels are an issue. Beach towels are rare to get clean ones, bath towels are cleaned daily (even if hung for reuse) but it’s not a guarantee if you get back what they took. We had to ask many times to get our two towels back and a bath mat for the slippery floor. We gave up on face cloths or a hand towel. The pools need some care and the decks can be slippery. Some of the pools dont seem to be filtering properly at times. There is only one restaurant on site, and they only serve at certain times. By serve, i mean they serve you. You are unable to serve yourself but you are given a good portion. But i did see it limited in some cases. There is a snack menu but they don’t like to tell people about it and you can only order from in once in a while before you start getting attitude (called the late lunch menu). There were so many people smoking all over the place including in the rooms (so heads up your room can stink like cigarette smoke when you get there) our bedding wasn’t changed for the two weeks we were here, but they did make the bed daily. Floor was washed 3 times we were here. The resort is showing its age badly, but the room (209) was ok. Think motel 6 when you think of the rooms. It took a few days but the staff finally brought a cloth to block out the light from the window above the patio door. Before that there was nothing. So sleep was difficult. If you need an afternoon break from the heat your stuck in your room. There are areas with shade but with no breeze it can get very hot. The only places with AC is your room. Its $10 USD to get anywhere so if you want to go out plan for that.

Wonderful resort if you are looking for something a bit more "rustic" and less slick and touristy. Love the cliffs and views. The rooms are very basic, like a moderate motel in the States. Plenty comfortable. Value was brought is here. It was clean, though old. Not a ton of amenities but we packed for nothing. Great staff. Be sure to take advantage of the their sister resort, legends for the beech.

We just got back and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and helpful and we felt very safe. The shuttle to the beach was easy and it was so great to be able to go back and forth. Tina at the bar always welcomed us with a bright smile and helpful advice. Thank you to all the staff that made the trip special for us!
