Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa

Our family of four recently had the pleasure of staying at Pinewood Beach Resort in Mombasa (Rooms 171 & 172), and we can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Every single member of staff greeted us with genuine warmth and kindness, always smiling and going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The level of hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. The food deserves a very special mention. Every meal was outstanding, with a fantastic variety of fresh, beautifully prepared dishes to suit everyone in our family. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality and presentation were consistently excellent. A huge thank you to the incredibly talented chefs and the entire restaurant team for their hard work and dedication. It was clear how much care and passion goes into every meal, and it made dining at the resort one of the highlights of our holiday. Housekeeping was absolutely immaculate. Our rooms were cleaned to an exceptionally high standard every day, and we were always impressed by the attention to detail. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job of ensuring everything was spotless and comfortable throughout our stay, allowing us to completely relax. The resort itself is beautifully maintained. The cleanliness across the entire property is second to none, from the pathways and pool areas to the beach and communal spaces. The gardens are simply stunning, and it is obvious how much pride the gardening team takes in their work. Every flower bed, lawn, and palm tree is meticulously cared for, creating a peaceful tropical setting that is both beautiful and relaxing. A very special thank you goes to Calab, the superb bartender, who truly made our holiday unforgettable. His professionalism, kindness, and friendly personality were unmatched. He always welcomed us with a smile, remembered our favourite drinks, and took the time to chat with us, making every visit to the bar a pleasure. His exceptional customer service and genuine care for guests are a real credit to Pinewood Beach Resort, and he played a huge part in making our family holiday so special. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Resort Manager, Pamala, whose leadership is clearly reflected throughout the resort. The exceptional standards, friendly atmosphere, and seamless organisation of the hotel are a testament to her and her wonderful team. It is evident that everyone works together to create an unforgettable experience for their guests. Thank you to every member of staff - from reception, housekeeping, the chefs and restaurant team, the gardeners, maintenance staff, and the bar team - for making our stay so memorable. Your hard work, dedication, and genuine hospitality did not go unnoticed. Pinewood Beach Resort is a true hidden gem, offering outstanding service in a beautiful setting. We left feeling completely relaxed, well looked after, and already planning our return. We cannot recommend this resort highly enough and look forward to visiting again in the future. Arrival (5 star) - organised and efficient. Taken straight to room and personalised key code to enter instead of having to take a card or key around - very useful. Room (4 star) - nice layout and great AC. The bedrooms are the only places with AC so are a nice relief after a warm day. No TV was unusual. Pool (4 star) - plenty big enough for the number of guests. Never struggled finding a sunbed. Sunbeds could be comfier. Food (3.5 star): - Breakfast - has most of what you need but a lot of wasps around, and no AC in the restaurant as it’s open with no windows - made it difficult to enjoy when hot. - Lunch - very good (5 star), à la carte by the pool or beach. Not all meals are on All inclusive but there’s enough option included. - Dinner - different themed nights but no choice other than to do them. It was good though and always a pasta/lasagne option in case. Mongolian night by the pool the best (5 star). Buffets in the main restaurant okay but again no AC so couldn’t enjoy when too hot. The main downside on the food is most meat is on the bone which is not our preference. À la carte dinners would be a good addition. Entertainment (1 star) - non existent but as to be expected with a boutique hotel. No harm in running quizzes/bingo though as people will join as there’s nothing else to do in the evenings. Departure (4 star) - efficient and was able to keep the room with late checkout for no fee which was nice. Albeit had to pay for lunch as All Inclusive ends at check out

After a six day safari , we arrived after a bumpy road to this beautiful hotel . The gardens, restaurants, snack bars, pool and beach were immaculate. All cleaned daily . Koi ponds and waterfalls by the restaurant , trees and shrubs around all the gardens . The staff are all friendly , helpful, efficient and immaculate too! We had an ocean view room on the first floor. Beautiful room, traditional but with all the mod cons. Kettle , hairdryer etc Lovely bathroom. Comfy balconies with daybeds or armchairs and hammocks. All very clean . Happy to recommend this oasis !
