Embudu Village

We stayed in this paradise for 12 days. It was a wonderful holiday. Enchanting place surrounded by nature. Very attentive and helpful staff. Special thanks to Hossain at the restaurant, thoughtful, kind and Attentive. He immediately noticed the change in my mood when we learned we were stuck and every day he welcomed us with a beautiful smile and a word of comfort. Thank you, I hope to come back

We stayed at elliahdhoo before but it was fully booked, Embudu was alot cheaper, we liked the reviews so booked. Yes the more expensive location had some nice touches, but Embudu has a nice small vibe. The staff were happy smiling and good. The food was good. The accommodation perhaps a little dated, but pleasant. The reef was good and stingray city, well that was an experience, so glad we did it. Yes may be slightly better at more expensive resort, but we were very happy and will be a hard choice next time we go, as we were not dissatisfied with Embudu. Hoosain was our waiter and a very nice young man

We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon and we wished we stayed for longer! We felt that this resort was excellent value for money. Really beautiful beach and waters. Amazing reef and lovely food! Both myself and my husband are vegan and we were accommodated for so well - showing us what was vegan and then cooking anything that could be veganised (e.g potato’s without milk) for us especially. The only thing that could have been improved was being given vegan dessert options. But still would recommend for vegans - always something savoury and delicious. Our waiter was also so so lovely but we sadly can’t remember his name. We went snorkelling and pretty immediately saw turtles, the coral is so alive it’s beautiful to see! We also did the stingray city snorkeling tour, although we were a bit disappointed as they fed the sharks and sting rays off the boat which isn’t great for them as they learn to come near boats which can cause injuries, it was a good experience though. We requested a room on the east side and were given a stunning room on the beach, although all the rooms looked lovely. The decorated for our honeymoon which was kind and gave us a fruit basket which was delicious! The only thing that was annoying was the air con and fridge kept going on and off in the night and was noisy and disrupted our sleep a bit. Overall, it’s a beautiful little island - it isn’t anything fancy like some Maldives resorts but it’s still a gorgeous island, more affordable and close to Male, without being noisy or overcrowded. It was quiet, the jetty is such a nice place to go and sit - I saw sharks passing by and many fish.

We had wonderfull holidays and enjoyed mainly the snorkling on the nearby house reef. There are many corals and a huge variety of fish. We even saw a turtle. A highlight was an excursion to snorkel with big sharks and stingrays. The staff in all areas is supportive, friendy and professional. All our additional requirements including a small medical treatment were fulfilled in a good way. The bungalow was perfectly cleaned every day. The bathroom was good, only the furniture in the bedroom is quite old. The food was always good with a lot of variety. The list of drinks available for all inclusive is rather small, but this is not important for us. In total it was all positive and we consider to come back again.

Embudu Village has many positive points. It is a 40-minute boat ride from the airport. It is cheaper than many resorts in the Maldives. It has a beautiful house reef. The food is fresh and there is enough variety in the buffet meals to keep everyone happy. It is not a five-star resort. There is no swimming pool. The rooms are adequate but dark to keep out the heat. This is mitigated by the outdoor access to beach chairs. The units are close together so if your neighbor is a smoker and you are not, this can be problematic. We chose this resort because we love to snorkel. We were in the water for hours at a time. The island has a triangular sort of shape. On two sides of the triangle there is a current. This allows you to drift snorkel. Sometimes the current is fast and you drift accordingly; however, you end up in the front side where there is little current. Along the front there is also a garden of coral. The coral of the reef is mixed. There are some areas of dead coral. There are also stretches of vibrant coral. The sea creatures are bountiful, and you will see every reef fish imaginable. We spent some time observing and being observed by a large octopus which was a first for us. There are reef sharks, but this is true of any healthy reef. Overall, the snorkeling is very good.
