Ambre Mauritius

If you want an affordable europe-style all inclusive resort, Ambre is the way to go. Unless you require a 5 star VIP hotel such as the one in Port Louis, this probably one of Mauritius' best price/quality ratio. Although be prepared for some differences such as a very cold pool, the need to be reasonably careful when swimming in the sea and different, but friendly cultural approach of local people. For a couple or a family with adult kids, Ambre is probably the best option if you've decided to visit Mauritius and want to enjoy both the island and a bit of seaside relax.

Great hotel, great facilities. Staff very friendly and very attentive. Main bar by the pool with the entertainment a bit too loud for my taste and can be heard loudly in the bedrooms North of the pool. If sometimes you like an early night ask for a room South of the pool.

The warm, attentive staff make Ambre a truly worthwhile choice. While it isn't the most luxurious or modern hotel in Mauritius, the majority of the team are exceptionally friendly, eager to help, and quick to resolve any issues. You can expect frequent check-ins from guest services, warm smiles around every corner, and several team members who go well above and beyond. Special mentions must go to Sheila, Samma and Sayed for their wonderful hospitality. The beach and poolside service is fantastic—wherever you are, even at the far end of the beach, staff will track you down to bring you drinks. Another very special shoutout goes to the gardening team, who work tirelessly to keep the grounds immaculate. Rooms & Amenities: The rooms are dated and due for an upgrade (which has already begun), but they are spacious, featuring comfortable large beds, crisp linen and soft bath towels. Non-French speakers might find the TV channel selection disappointing, as English options are limited to CNN, France 24, and DW. We also experienced persistent picture and sound reception issues that staff tried—but were unable—to fix during our stay. That said, you don't travel to a tropical island to watch TV, so it was only a minor blip! Dining & Pools: The food is good—while it could occasionally be a bit more adventurous, you'll always find something enjoyable. Part of the fun is mixing and matching dishes or trying something new, and it was genuinely refreshing not to see chips served with every meal! The pools are lovely and, rare for a hotel, actually look better in person than in the photos. A Small Critique: My main complaint relates to the persistent upselling for extras like lobster nights and premium cocktails. At times, the sales pitches felt a bit too pushy and the pricing for these add-ons was excessive. In conclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, felt deeply welcomed, and were truly valued as guests. Would I return to this hotel? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends and family? Absolutely. European hospitality could learn a lot from Mauritius when it comes to genuine customer service!

Our stay at Ambre was truly wonderful, and the highlight of our experience was definitely the amazing animation team. A very special thanks to Mr. Désiré and Nikhil, who were with us from the beginning to the end, always making us smile and ensuring we had a fantastic time. Their energy, friendliness, and dedication made our holiday unforgettable. We would also like to sincerely thank Mrs. Nicoletta, who was incredibly kind and welcoming, even after our check-out. Her exceptional care and professionalism left a lasting impression. Thank you all for making our stay so special.
