Really enjoyed my stay here. Great staff members. Especially in the pool side cafe. Deavirem, suman, Hans, Leanne, Gavish, Sandip and the rest of the team. Will return!

La Pirogue is situated by the wonderful Flic en Flac Beach, and despite it being an old hotel, it is very well kept, and rooms in the thatched huts are nice, but quite small. We were 3 adults in a garden bungalow, and that was absolutely maximum. The beach is wonderful and the sunsets can be really nice, so grab a drink and a sunchair by sunset and enjoy. We used the snorkelling facilities a lot – snorkelling is reasonably good; water is quite shallow. We also had one dive but stopped after that as the dive instructor was extremely annoying. We attended the beach buffet, and the food was really nice, but unfortunately led to an extremely severe food poisoning. We reached out to the hotel several times, but they only reacted after 4 days after multiple inquiries, which we found pretty incredible. We lost 4 holidays due to the food poisoning! We ended up having a reasonable dialogue with the hotel, but the absence / delay of reply was unforgiveable. The food in the restaurants we visited: Wolmar, Coconut Café, Maré Maré Beach Restaurant and Buddha-Bar Beach (last two at Sugar Beach Hotel) was well prepared, but standard. Nothing special anywhere, service OK but not very attentive. I would call La Pirogue a 3 star hotel. It’s good, but it’s clear that they are cutting some corners. This might be a detail for many, but for example the shampoo and conditioner available was not up to my standards (which is not a very high standard that goes anywhere beyond a decent shampoo and conditioner you can buy in a normal supermarket). I am not sure which brand they use at La Pirogue, but both shampoo and conditioner were very thin - maybe due to dilution with water? I could just about use the shampoo, but the conditioner was useless. Luckily, I brought my own, so I just used that - but just to give you an idea about the facilities. In conclusion, I would like to give La Pirogue 3 TripAdvisor stars, but due to the hotel’s negligence of our situation – caused by the hotel food - I remain at 2.

Amazing experience, dive in the aquarium with Guillermo was a great adventure. Bibi at the counter is very nice and smily and all the rest of the team is very professional and polite! I would really recommend the Sundivers diving center
