I stayed at The Ravenala Attitude in Balaclava, Mauritius from 6–8 March with family and friends. We booked four separate rooms for the stay. First, I would like to mention that the food has improved compared to my previous visit last year. There was a large variety available, although not everything was equally good. Still, the effort to improve the food selection is noticeable and appreciated. A special mention goes to the barmen at the main bar and the pool bar, especially Shivam and Mosafer. They were friendly, professional, and really contributed to making our stay more enjoyable. Saturday night’s event was good overall, but I felt it was not very representative of Mauritian culture. Tourists come to Mauritius to experience our originality and local atmosphere. Unfortunately, the music selection seemed mostly focused on European songs. After one local song, several European songs would follow. It would be great to see more local music and sega, as this is part of what makes Mauritius special. On the positive side, the DJ and the barman at the after-pub was excellent and very friendly, and we had a great time there on both nights. However, the biggest issue during our stay was related to housekeeping and privacy. None of our four rooms had a “Do Not Disturb / Please Clean Room” door sign available. Because of this, early Sunday morning at around 8:30 am, a housekeeping staff member(a man-expat) entered in 1 of the rooms where there were 2 ladies sleeping after a late night at the pub. This was quite uncomfortable, dangerous and should never happen. In another instance, we left our rooms on Saturday to go to the pool. When we returned, our room had been cleaned without us requesting it. Since there was no door sign available, we had no way to indicate our preference. Our luggage was open and all our personal belongings were in the room. Although the cleaning itself was done properly, we did not request the service, and entering the room without clear consent raises concerns about privacy. I would also like to mention an issue regarding late check-out. Since Saturday morning, we requested a late check-out for at least one of the four rooms we had booked. However, the process was quite confusing. On Saturday morning, the staff asked us to make the request at night before dinner time. When we went back at night, we were then told to come again the next morning(departure day) to confirm it. Unfortunately, on the day of departure, we were informed that the late check-out could not be granted. It was quite surprising and disappointing that out of four rooms, not even one could be granted a late check-out. A clearer process and better communication regarding such requests would greatly improve the guest experience. Well, hotels should ensure clear privacy procedures and proper room signage so guests can control when staff enter their rooms. Because of these privacy, safety, and communication issues, I unfortunately have to rate this stay 2/5, despite the positive aspects of the food and bar staff.

We had a very pleasant stay overall. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our visit. A special thank you to Mr. Seeam, who made sure we were well taken care of during our stay and always checked that we didn’t need anything. His attention and professionalism really made a difference. I would also like to thank the receptionist, whom I believe was Melanie. She was very attentive to our requests and ensured we had a smooth and warm welcome. As our child was unwell upon arrival, she handled the check-in efficiently and avoided long procedures, which we truly appreciated. The food and drinks were very enjoyable, and we had a great experience dining at the hotel. We were also very grateful that the Bistrot accepted us for lunch even though we arrived quite late. This kind of flexibility and understanding is especially appreciated when traveling with a child. That said, there are a couple of areas where the hotel could improve. The cleanliness of the room could be better, as it did not fully meet the standard we expected. Additionally, we noticed quite a few wasps in different areas of the hotel, including near the pool and on our balcony, which made it a bit uncomfortable at times. Overall, the kindness and attentiveness of the staff made our stay enjoyable, and with some improvements in these areas, the experience could be even better.

It was my second time at Ravenala Attitude Hotel It was very disappointing compared to my first experience We paid for a couple suite (all in all out) for 2 nights We requested to shift room as it was far from the pool We obtained a room which was in bad condition - ripped curtains - bad bathroom conditions - cockroach in bathroom (we did inform the reception) they did not take into consideration!! Food in buffet was not good Don’t have varieties compared to our first time Staff not welcoming Dinner at bistro nothing extraordinary Thanks to the barmem from both bars for their services Also the glass bottom staffs , amazing people The only good point!! Not coming back again Sorry !!

Our stay at The Ravenala Attitude truly deserves a 5-star review as the standards are exceptionally high! From the moment we arrived until the end of our stay, everything was simply amazing. The service, staff attitude, food, atmosphere, overall hotel vibe, room upgrade and attention to even the smallest details were flawless. A very special mention to Chef Pilly for being such a genuine, down to earth and accommodating person! The hotel is truly lucky to have him!!! I would also like to thank some wonderful team members who genuinely did their best to make our stay memorable: Famous Mr Rai - beach boy, Shivam from Lime and Sunny from La Boutik, as well as others whose names I unfortunately cannot remember but who were equally kind and attentive.
