The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa Mauritius

We recently stayed at The Westin Turtle Bay and unfortunately left with mixed feelings. The people working at the hotel are genuinely kind and try their best, but many of the issues we experienced felt more systemic rather than individual, which made it difficult to fully relax during our stay. Our first room was quite old, dark and not very well maintained, with noticeable dust on the couch and curtains. After raising this with the team, Dravish kindly helped us with an upgrade, and we were moved to another room which was much better — spacious, brighter and more comfortable for our family. We appreciated this support. However, throughout the stay there were many small but constant operational issues. Breakfast orders were often mixed up, and pool service was inconsistent, with drinks such as cola and ginger ale sometimes not arriving even after 40 minutes. We also pre-ordered a picnic basket for a specific time, but it was never ready, even after waiting an additional 30 minutes, and we eventually had to leave without it. The spa facilities also feel quite dated. The sauna did not work for part of our stay, and the steam room was functioning only intermittently. Another disappointment was that the kids club was under renovation during our stay. While the staff working with the children were absolutely amazing in the temporary setup and did their best to create a welcoming and fun environment for the kids, it would have been helpful to know about the renovation in advance. As we were traveling with children, this information could have influenced our choice of hotel. That said, the housekeeping team was excellent. Cleaning was very thorough, and both the morning service and evening turndown were consistently well done. A special thank you to Lalini for her care and attention. On a positive note, the team at the Indian restaurant Kangan was especially welcoming and efficient, which we truly appreciated. We also received some complimentary items as a gesture to make up for the inconveniences, which we appreciated. However, we would have preferred for everything to run smoothly from the start. Tips for travelers: the beach here is quite limited and there is almost no easy swimming access from the shore. The hotel does offer boat trips for snorkeling twice a day, which is nice, but if you are looking for a hotel where you can enjoy swimming directly from the beach, this may not be the best option. One highlight for us was lunch at the Boathouse — definitely worth it. A tip is to come early at the start of service, as tables fill up quickly. None of these issues individually are dramatic, but when they happen repeatedly across different parts of the hotel, it becomes difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience. The staff are friendly and clearly trying, but the hotel would benefit from refurbishment and stronger operational organization to match the expectations of the Westin brand.

Really good overall experience at the resort and customer care/ service from at all levels was exceptional! Care for elderly, disability and children was excellent as personal at all levels up to senior management took individual interest and responsibility. Location, Atmosphere of the resort was really good and the activities provided were varied and very well organised. Variety of restaurants and food with the flexibility for taste and preferences was really good. Overall the management and staff on the ground went out of their way to make this an enjoyable holiday. We had the best time and we couldn’t recommend this place enough. Staff running this place is the soul of Westin and our experience wouldn’t be the same without them.

This was a holiday to celebrate my wife's birthday and the choice of Mauritius and The Westin at Turtle Bay was perfect. This was our 5th trip to Mauritius and having previously stayed at The Oberoi, Sugar Beach, and The One and Only St Gerain we returned to The Westin Turtle Bay which we feel is the perfect choice for us. The quality of the food throughout the resort is superb and the service truly exceptional which made for a memorable wonderful holiday. We stayed in a Wellbeing Suite with a huge balcony/ patio area overlooking the bay , 2 Sofas and 2 sun loungers and a table on the balcony area made a great place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. The hotel itself is beautifully positioned and the gardens are a delight to walk through and are kept in pristine condition and enhance the feeling of calm and relaxation that one feels throughout the resort. The quality of service offered by all the staff is really exceptional, nothing is a bother, nothing is too much trouble everyone is just so nice and pleasant to talk to and so helpful. This is a very special place.
