Akumal Bay Resort

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort from April 8 to April 15. From the very first day, everything felt special and well taken care of. The service was truly outstanding, and we especially want to highlight the exceptional work of the manager, Manuel. He went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Every evening, he personally arranged different restaurants for us, always checking in to make sure everything was perfect — from the food to the service and even the room cleanliness. On the first day, we celebrated my friend Alina’s birthday, and Manuel organized a beautiful table and made the celebration feel truly special. It was such a thoughtful and memorable experience. Before our departure, he surprised us again with a beautifully prepared table wishing us a good trip — such a warm and personal touch that we will never forget. We also loved the location of the resort. Nearby, we had an amazing experience swimming with turtles — something truly unforgettable. The beach was clean, the water was clear and shallow, which made it perfect for relaxing and swimming. We enjoyed the ocean every single day. We would also like to mention the rest of the team, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They organized beach volleyball, pool activities, and even educational talks about the turtles living in the area, which made our experience even more special and unique. A special thank you to Alejandro and Oscar for their positive energy and great attitude. Overall, the service was excellent, and everything exceeded our expectations. Four of us (two couples) spent two weeks here in April. It was our first vacation at this resort--and we had a wonderful time. The food was superb--and we ate at all four of the specialty restaurants. (Our favourite was The Grill, where we had the terrific Brazilian skewer meal). Food at the buffet was also excellent. The level of service at all the restaurants was first rate--with a particular shout-out to Hugo, Cristian and Rogelio and Severiano at the buffet, and Ricardo, Genaro and Ana Jazmin at The Grill. At the beach and main lobby bars Jocelyn and Silvia did a fantastic job providing high quality drinks. We stayed in room 1019 in Building 1, where Olga kept our room spotless. The "turtle talk" by Alejandro is well worth attending, as are the various Aqua fit classes. As noted elsewhere, German patrols the beach, whipping away towels of people who have reserved space--but don't show up. Lots of interesting people can be found there--Abel and his one-man band, Carlos with his falcon Luca, and some excellent wait staff. The beach was disappointing--with lots of sargassum--despite the daily efforts to take it away. In sum, a great two-week vacation...

We have just returned from the most fantastic holiday at Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort. Even though I’d read loads of reviews and looked at the photos, it exceeded my expectations in terms of quality of service, quality and cleanliness of the whole hotel, quality of food, drink and entertainment. The staff in every department are excellent, and you can see them everywhere cleaning, tidying, helping people. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We brought our daughters aged 14 and 12 and I was concerned they might be a bit bored, but they said it was the best holiday they have ever had! Just such a friendly, luxurious, relaxing resort. We couldn’t fault anything at all about the holiday, and just want to go back!

This is a lovely resort and the staff is fabulous. Food and drinks are excellent. We went in Dec and had a wonderful time so we decided to go back in April. In Dec it was fairly quiet, there were children and we felt they were well supervised. When we went this time there were several families with unruly children. The kids were often unsupervised and ran wild having no respect for anyone around them. There was teens that took over one of the small infinity pools. They were pushing the water over the edge of the pool and being completely disruptive. There were young children running around on the dance floor while the bands were setting up and running back and forth behind the bands and coming too close to the equipment. One band had to ask the kids not to run near their equipment. Again, some of these kids seemed to be unsupervised. We like kids and we understand this is a family resort but we just didn’t like the fact that some were not attended to and in some cases the parents seemed to be no where in site. The families with much younger children were very friendly and attentive to their children and a joy to be around. Midweek it became a lot more quiet and enjoyable as some families left. We did have a good time however we aren’t sure if we will return again.

Jocelyn Rodriguez was wonderful, with very fast service. The drinks are wonderful, the beach is beautiful, everything is amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better trip.
