Isabelle had the best time at the Kids Club! A huge thank you to Eduardo, Val, and Maribel for taking such wonderful care of her. They were incredibly kind, patient, caring, and fun. They made Isabelle feel safe, happy, and excited to come back every day. It was clear how much they genuinely care about the children, and that gave us so much peace of mind. Thank you for making our family vacation so special and for creating such beautiful memories for Isabelle. We truly appreciate everything you did! ❤️

This will be our final trip staying at Bahia Akumal. This was our 6th time staying at the resort and the change in ownership is very noticeable. Our prior trips to this resort were amazing. This trip was full of disappointment. We arrived after check in time only to be told that one our rooms was not ready with an attitude from the front desk. We were given our wrist bands (key) and were told we could put all of our stuff in one room and come back in a few hours to get the ok to get in to our other room. We made our way over to the adult only pool only to find it completely empty which has never happened before in the past it was always full. Only one staff member at the bar, no music just boring atmosphere. We were there during the time when the hotel decided the restaurants would allow walk ups. We headed over to one and were told they were full, plenty of open tables and there was a long waitlist. We found out later that to get a table we needed to be at a restaurant by 6 pm to add our name to the list. We ended up at the buffet and were shocked to see most of the dishes empty and not all the food stations open and cooking. This was the same situation for breakfast and lunch. If you sat on the adult only side of the buffet good luck finding anyone to help get drinks or service. Most people we talked to there complained of the same service the staff was no where to be found. The food at the buffet was a huge disappointment. We noticed that the buffet normally open by the adult only pool was never open and the snack bar had limited hours. We noticed one employee working the swing bar by the large pool area definitely needed two or three. This hotel use to offer great options for food any time of the day. We opted to find food a few times off the resort. We heard from many of the staff that a lot of employees have quit and the ones still there see how bad the hotel is since Hyatt took over ownership. We were told the hotel was at only a 25% capacity very obvious. We have been there at different times of the year and never seen it so empty during a July trip. Hyatt needs to re-evaluate the changes made to the hotel before they run it into the ground. Tourism is down in the area and to see the number of stores/businesses that have closed in the Tulum area is disappointing. A frequent comment made by other guests is the hospitality has gone down especially when dealing with the front desk. We considered eating the cost and going to another resort by the end of our second day at the resort. We decided to stick it out and see if it got any better by the end of our trip. We were all looking forward to this trip and left feeling disappointed.

hi, this is the best resort ever like ever. I stayed here in may and went in a group of 6 (3 under 18 and 3 over 18). we has 3 swim up rooms and all 3 were beside each other. i genuinely had the time of my life. its seriously the best resort. the food was so so good, we had a restaurant every night except for the first one (because the first one was an adults-only one). my personal favourite has to be the seafood and the dish is the seafood pasta (so goooood). when i went there wasn't a lot of mango at buffet but, there was other amazing foods such as mashed pumpkin delicious btw. the drinks were all delicious thanks to all the bartenders and at the cafe. at the cafe the pastries were sooooo good to. by night, i was lowkey tired usually after long fun days but the entertainment; holy if it was amazing. I went to just one of the shows i believe and it was realllly good. i dont really remember which one it was but i'd recommend checking them all out because they put so much effort into putting the shows on so go support them. after the shows there were events like silent disco, live music, karaoke. those events i was a little more awake for and i did enjoy them (especially the silent disco) which i went to with my friends my age. at the silent disco there are music options and you can choose the one you wanna listen to by clicking buttons on the headphones. One music is usually latin, one is old like 80's or 2000's even and the other one is like newer so like 2020's maybe late 2010's. Good music!! now the part that my experience always goes by is the entertainment team and i can't lie is was the absolute BEST here. there are so many fun daily activities like aquaerobics, bingo, crazy game, zumba, water volleyball, water polo, darts, literally everything you can imagine there is thanks to the entertainment team. my favourite people on the entertainment team were defo ramon, karla and mariana. seriously the sweetest!! they had such great energy (yes, i know it is their job to have energy but it seems like they fr enjoy doing their jobs which makes the setting/environment better and more positive. since the time that i stayed there in may i have had MANYYY people ask me what my favourite resort i have stayed at is and i have recommended them this one because it truly is the best. will definitely have to come back next year (hopefully!!).

My family and I stayed at the Alkumal mexico on July 16,, two July 23. Our rooms were beautiful. We really liked them. The people there are very kind and friendly. We were told that it was their off-season so not too crowded. The beach had a lot of seaweed, we were told that under off-season there’s a lot of seed lead that if we wanted to come when there’s no seaweed, we should come between the months of November to March that the waters are a lot more clear and blue. The pool was great like I said it wasn’t too crowded just towards the end of our stay we found that it started to get more murky not enough cleaning of the pool. The À la cart restaurants are very good. One of our favourites was the Dolce Vita. We are a privilege club member so we were able to book four à la cart restaurants. but the other people who were staying there had to lineup They were not able to reserve the restaurant of their choice. We were told that this is because of low occupancy as well as their off-season. So there were a lot of vacationers that were not very happy about this. I believe that this is something they should be telling their customers before they book. Also, the buffet restaurant was pretty good just found not too much variety in the day-to-day service. Also, the signs on the food were not correct and not enough food was being put out I found even with the low occupancy. There was always empty trays of food, not being filled fast enough. Also, I found that the pool bars only had one person serving all the people. I believe they need at least two servers there. But like I said, I think this had to do with the fact that they were trying to save some money considering that they had low occupancy and it was an off-season. But being a privileged club member, I believe that this should not affect the service you receive or the quality of food that you get as well. Now that being said, I would like to go back and try them again in between those months of November and March when it’s their high season to see if there is a Difference.

This was our 4th visit, the last being in 2018 for a wedding which was amazing. We booked this trip for our 20th anniversary, booked a swim up room which was amazing, used room service some days which was great and used the snack bar several times. All great but during our stay the main buffet was closed at night which wasn’t brilliant but I managed to book plenty of à la cartes which were all good especially Katok steak house, steaks were beautiful! This May was the quietest I’ve ever seen this resort since our last trips in 2015, 2016 & 2018, not sure if this is just a sign of the times or if it was due to renovations. When the buffet reopened it was only half open but it was ok, we didn’t starve! I’ve always loved the wildlife here and there was still plenty :-) the weather was amazing but it’s a shame to see our favourite part of the beach was unusable due to all the seaweed. The main beach was perfect tho and we stayed by the swing bar most days. We will return in a few years, maybe in high season when all facilities are hopefully available. Coming from the UK it’s a lot of money and we would have preferred the buffet being fully open and not being tied to à la carte bookings. We will definitely have a swim up again but will be keeping a close eye on reviews to see if any more changes are made that could put us off spending so much money for a lot less Akumal perks
