So we have had 2 glorious weeks at the Bahía Príncipe Grand Tulum. It’s a long way to come from the North of England but the journey was well worth it and we loved the place. The main reason obviously is the fabulous weather but the friendliness of the staff in this hotel really made the holiday. We had a sea view suite in block 3 so could watch the Caribbean in peace which to be honest is a bonus as the musak in the lobby bar and the loud pool music could be a little irritating at times but this is a minor glitch. There is an adult only pool available which is quieter than the main pool and a family pool which was also great as it was near the Truck Stop snack bar and was well supported by the life guards . So, something for everyone. Plenty of beach side loungers too although the Sargassum does blight the beach there were people working so so hard every morning to try and clear it up . Much appreciated amigos! The buffet was plentiful and had an international appeal. I mean, we LOVED the Mexican dishes which were a daily staple but the kitchen staff worked so hard to deliver roast meats and fish , pasta and pizza , a vast array of vegetable dishes and rice and always a great salad bar. How people can complain about the food is beyond me! I mean it’s not going to be exactly what you would get at home but isn’t that the point of being on holiday? Some folk complain about not being able to book the à la carte restaurants in advance but the customer service staff soon sorted that out for us and we got to eat where we wanted to. Although the buffet by far was able to meet our needs fully! The only thing we thought was funny was the lack of spoons but we learned how to ask for one in Spanish and made a joke of it! Thank you to Emilia and Edwin in the buffet restaurant for the Spanish lessons and great service . The waiting staff, cleaners, gardeners and bar staff were all so cheerful and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained with the usual array of small mammals and geckos adding to the interest. We enjoyed trips to Maya Cobá, Tulum, Playa del Carmen and best of all the nature reserve Sian Ka’an which I highly recommend. Take money for tips and enjoy the shows on offer in the hotel . The Fiesta Mexicana in particular was fabulous as was the Origins show! Spectacular! We loved all of the trad Mexican bands too but in particular the female Mariachi band! Highly skilled musicians and singers - creating a lovely vibe! Thank you to all of the staff for a memorable holiday Viva Mexico!

My husband and I traveled here for a wedding, so we were here as part of a larger group of friends but also doing some things as just a couple. The good: - the drinks were great, especially for being an all inclusive resort -great late night dancing and bar at the Hacienda - some of the staff were especially great and worked very hard to take care of guests. We especially had great experiences with Edwin. - rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, AC worked well -they did a great job with our friends’ wedding, and it was beautiful and fantastic! - our spa services were wonderful! - we enjoyed the tennis facilities The bad: - eating proved to be consistently a challenge for us on this trip. We really did not enjoy the buffet food at all. The buffet was much better for breakfast though compared with lunch and dinner -there are WAY too many people at this resort. They really could use a second buffet to keep lines down. If you fail to reserve à la carte restaurant a week in advance, you’ll be scrambling to get a reservation if someone else cancels. If you cant get reservations you’ll be stuck with the buffet for three meals per day. - they are ALWAYS running out of towels. On multiple days we were unable to get a single beach towel and had to air dry, which is simply unacceptable in our opinion for a 5 star resort Additionally, be aware that the Tulum location does not have ANY adults only spaces like Coba/Tequila, which was a major drawback for my husband and I. However, this is more of personal preference since we were not traveling with children. The resort caters to families with kids, so if you are looking for something more peaceful or romantic, try the Akumal or another resort instead that better caters to that. The staff were generally friendly, but I don’t think we were the right clientele for this resort.

We have stayed at his resort 3 times. I find it was better in the past stays as a Bahia property. Now that Hyatt has taken over it seems to have slipped a bit. There is a smaller pool at the far end by building 40 that was a quiet pool but at this stay it was quite noisy. As all the other pools are available (and noisy) it would be preferable if this was designated as a quiet pool, not all guests want noisy pools. Smoking is supposed to be in designated areas, this did not seem to be enforced around the resort. The à la carte restaurants were very good. The buffet was average. The guest rooms are nice as is the staff around the resort. It is good to have the shuttles to take around the resort. We found that the shuttle from Tulum to Cobá did not run often enough, at dinner time we needed to be there 1/2hr ahead to make sure we were on time for our reservation.
