I was so disappointed with this place. We had never been to Mexico before and were told great things so we had high expectations. The room was so dated and had a cracked sink and mirror so we mentioned to our rep and we managed to change to a much nicer room although when we first checked in we were told of we don't like our room we can pay $1000USD to upgrade. The hotel itself wasn't too busy therefore they didn't open all pool bars which was annoying. The drinks you need to ask specifically for brands they don't just offer this. The entertainment is always at the main pool during the day. There's a kids club and teens club and the kids pools are nice although the water is like bath water, not so great for trying to keep cool. The entertainment at night I a bit all over the place. Some is in the theatre some is down at the hacienda so you can be back and forth to catch things for the kids then things for the adults. The rooms were kept clean everyday. We did have an ant infestation in our new room so we had to keep buying fresh food and keep in the small fridge. You get 4 drinks topped up 2 of which are beers even though I don't even drink beer. There was no towel display even though we tipped and left a note in Spanish. The food was the worst part. The buffet is just always the same sort of food that is moved around and what's not used for lunch is put back out for dinner. My daughter basically only ate fruit and chips. Chips weren't part of the buffet so I had to ask for them to be added. I asked for chicken nuggets and apparently there is no such thing. The burrito at the truck snack bar had bones in them, the burgers were like processed patty. The restaurants which you can only book 6 times during a 14 night stay are booked out way in advance they should only let people book once they check in rather than booking before they even arrive at the resort. One couple was upgraded to akumal because of the buffet situation it when I asked we were told no they can make sure there is a plate for our daughter but when you go to th buffet not many people can understand what you mean. I had to keep asking for strawberries (only supplied in mornings) and would wait quite a while for a small amount to be chopped up. The beach is a no go because of th seaweed. There is nothing nearby the resort for us to be able to walk to to get some street food or a cafe. I asked for an iced latte with caramel they had no idea what I was talking about. For the money we spent to come here and the extra we have been on top just to make it enjoyable definitely hasn't been worth it. The atmosphere is ok, every staff member is friendly and pleasant although I don't think one of them got to know us by name the whole 2 weeks we were there. For the pool you aren't allowed to do anything, the kids were allowed to run and jump or be thrown about or put on your shoulders it was very strict I wasn't even allowed to go down the slide with my daughter so she never used it. The wildlife is nice to see although the birds can be annoying when eating they land on your food. The resort is clean and feels very safe. Everything in the hotel shops and even at the hacienda is expensive, you need to haggle with them. The oxxo shop is Good for picking up ruffles and Oreos etc but again an expense we didn't expect to pay for every day. Even ice cream for the kids wasn't great. We spoke to a few people who had been here before and were disappointed with how much it has went down hill.
Had a great time at Tulum! Big shout to Job and Edgar and the whole entertainment crew! Would definitely return!
Definitely recommend going in June (we were there late June to early July) - while the beach is full of seaweed the pool experience more than made up for it. The resort was not at full capacity so no issues finding lounge chairs by the pool nor dealing with long lines for the bar, etc. Our room was great (booked a Superior King). Buffet had lots of options - including gluten-free pastry. While we had four à la carte vouchers we could only use two bc reservations were full. Definitely recommend using the resort app to check in 10 days before your arrival so you can book the restaurants asap. That said - even doing so only got us two. Food was delicious at the buffet and in two restaurants we dined at. Service is friendly - tips are not mandatory but certainly welcome. Suggest bringing pesos although USD is accepted. POS is an option at the hacienda and in the resort stores, etc.
We had an amazing stay, my kids and I had such a wonderful time! Everything exceeded our expectations. The staff was kind and welcoming, the atmosphere was relaxing, and there were plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy. We made so many great family memories and truly appreciated how comfortable and enjoyable everything was. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this place to families looking for a fun and relaxing vacation!
Wanted to give this review, a quite good score with reservations, having just come back from two weeks away ( three rooms booked ) Its not a bad hotel however they never took note of our requests for our room preferences, directed to the hotel and TUI. In fact they were never even on the computer. Our check in therefore got off to a bad start The rooms given were dated and my room out of the three the AC was shocking After paying nearly £2k a person, good air con was a must and we never got it. Things only improved after paying the surcharge to be moved. Air con was none existent in the restaurants, so the experience was tainted The hotel being not full, meant that were was no availability for our dining choices as most nights they were closed. In my opinion you are sold something that all but a few could get ( party of six problems ) The beach was not open due to the sea weed etc, not the hotels fault, but its advertised as having a great beach etc The hotel is clean, food was good to quite good, not replenished at times, and we thought it was strange that chips were only on the menu 2/3 out of 14 days.. us British !! Service was good if you tipped - Special mention to Saul, Francisco, and Hipolito, great waiters in the main restaurant. Elsewhere a bit hit and miss with the service Pool was clean, drinks were good We always ask ourselves would we come back to a hotel, on this occasion no. Would we recommend it to others probably not. Far to quiet for us and lack of air con a massive problem. Penny Pinching i guess for not turning it on !!
