Bahia Principe Explore Tulum

We have been to this resort 25 years. We love the property, rooms, beach and the amazing people that work there. The à la carte restaurants are good along with the YUCATÁN Tulum buffet with great wait staff Hipolito evening and Saul morning and noon that we have know for years both excellent service. The only thing that has changed is the elimination of live dance bands that perform in Tulum lobby bar and Hacienda in the evenings. Is had been replaced with a Silent disco where people wear earphones worn by hundreds of people (yuck), Karaoke which is only entertainment for the 10 drunk people performing, and Trivia night. Wish they would bring back the live dance bands. The other change is the Hyatt takeover we lost our Loyalty Member Black status so we lost access to other properties such as the restaurants at Akumal and Sian Kaan and unlimited à la carte restaurants. All in all we love it there just found we had nothing to do most nights after dinner.

Our experience was okay, not much more.

Had a fabulous holiday, the hotel was situated next to the beach and within easy reach of the sister hotels. The transfer from the airport was around 90 mins, so that wasn't too bad. It was lovely and relaxing but if you are looking for lively go to the main pool. We spent our time at one of the smaller pools or the beach for r&r. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and happy to help in any way they can. The room was clean and spacious, and includes a mini bar. Clean sheets every day. The evening entertainment was fabulous and varied, from local bands and shows to magic to an 80's night. The entertainment staff have activities throughout the day, bike rides, yoga and aqua aerobics. Edgar from the entertainment team brings the party and was kind and patient with us when teaching us to dance Mexican style. Edgar made our holiday even more amazing with his energy and kindness.

The place looks like paradise…there are trams running all the time wherever you are. The buffets had enough food choices to pick from at all the meals I found the staff very attentive…especially guest services

This was our third holiday in Mexico and we had a high expectations as the other previous resorts were perfect in every way. This time we convinced our friends to go with us. We promised them a great experience. Unfortunately we not only disappointed ourselves but them as well which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. The resort itself was nice, clean and spacious with lovely pool area. The biggest let down was food - tasteless and undercooked. Very poor quality. The buffet was not refilled frequently enough so people had to wait in the queue for quite a while. The other annoying thing was that the cleaners were not replacing towels after service (took the dirty once but did not leave fresh ones). We had to constantly chase for them and wait sometimes almost an hour! Our friends had the same problem. Also not happy with the evening entertainment. It was chargeable at 10 US dollars per person even for all inclusive customers (never come across such a practice). Overall would return to Mexico but never to this resort. Not good value for money.
