Cancun Bay Resort

Me and my friends had a nice experience at Cancun Bay Resort. Leyslie, Alicia, and Sharon were particularly kind and welcoming, and when the weather wasn’t great came over and helped us make bracelets! Even though we weren’t particularly good at making them at first, they were very kind and patient and overall made our trip so much better! Also shout out to Oswaldo the bartender, so sweet and had a steady amount of drinks coming!

We had a great time, the service was great and hotel was very clean! Alicia, Leyslie, and Sharon especially were amazing.

This has got to be one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed in, it is more like apartments than a hotel, the rooms are dreadful and not what are shown on the travel companies websites. The entertainment is dreadful, the restaurant is more like a works canteen. The area surrounding is not much better. Would I recommend this hotel to anyone, absolutely not.

Wonderful staff in a small, personable hotel on the beach. The beach was flour-like white sand but the swimming very restricted in a small area between two piers. Rooms were satisfactory, very well cleaned daily and bed comfortable. Adequate storage space with a free safe deposit box. TV tuned to a few English speaking stations (BBC, CNN). Room was fairly quiet with minimal noise from the bar/pool it overlooked. Bad points: All Inclusive option was effectively reduced significantly by the constant Red Wine shortages. The last 6 evenings there was no red wine available after 21.30. No tonic water during the day at the pool bar (also serving the beach) and on some days, no sparkling water either! For all-inclusive this was poor, verging on ridiculous. I stated as much to the front desk manager (Juan) who tried to assist but to no real avail. Food was OK, but we were in Mexico, home of the Jalapino chilli and Chipotle sauce, of which there was very little evidence at meal times. This led to many of the meals being rather bland and inauthentic. Evening entertainment was good, if not excellent at times. This place could be a gold-mine were it not for some failings. Made into a boutique, adults only hotel with minimal changes, ensuring all drinks are available, ice cream at meal times and staff in the main bar 'demanding' tips for service. We did tip, but obviously not noted. Luis, the excellent waiter working in the Trattoria and la Vista sushi restaurants was a highlight and credit to the hotel. Would we go back? Possibly not with the restricted swimming/snorkeling, slightly bland food choices and the poor drink situation but we did have a great time with the other (English) guests who shared our sense of humour and thought processes.
