This was our second trip to a Dreams resort (we've also been to Cap Cana) and we had a great time, almost better than we expected. We booked a Preferred Club Ocean View room with a swim out pool. There are not many of these but the swim out pool was really worth it, especially in the mornings and evenings when you just want some quiet time. The rooms were spacious (our's also had a pull out sofa bed) and very well furnished with large bathrooms, very cold AC, a super comfortable bed, large screen TV and very well stocked mini-bar. The resort has seven primary themed restaurants for dinner including the World Cafe (Buffet). We had very good to excellent food at each restaurant but as some have mentioned, the service may be a little slow. The worst experience we had was at Maris where our overworked server struggled to get our food out while dealing with several other tables. What we eventually got was delicious but it was not great service. That was our only real negative experience. The Buffet for breakfast was excellent and we highly recommend the French restaurant (L' Etoile) and the Teppanyaki Grill inside the Japanese restaurant Fusion (watch out--those tables at the Teppanyaki become available to book in the app every day at 1PM local time and sell out within five minutes--we got lucky on our last night there). Lastly. the Brazilian Steakhouse (Gaucho Grill) opens at 6 and there is always a line. Get there early before they open or plan to come back and wait for a table (we waited nearly an hour). Also, make sure to visit Secrets...you can go to any of their restaurants as well and they have golf carts that can take you from the edge of Dreams to the resort. We ate at the Italian restaurant Portofino and it was honestly the best meal we had all week. Many reviewers have discussed the pools and chairs. There is a rush to get chairs each morning. We always ate breakfast first and then went down to the pool. We never had a problem finding chairs and an umbrella but we did have a hard time finding them in the best location or where we wanted. So as mentioned, go early (starting at 7AM) if you really want a certain spot. The week we were there there were a LOT of kids, more than we expected. It was fine but that can also determine where you want to camp out poolside. By the way, we thought the activity staff did a stellar job offering different games and activities every day to get people engaged. While at times it felt busy, we never felt like the pools were overcrowded...there was always space depending on where you looked. The beach is underrated. This was the first week of June and we did not have any major sargassum issues...the water was very clear and the beach was mostly clean (the resort cleaned it every morning and the property also has a natural buffer sitting across from Isla Mujeres). Most importantly, if you want some piece and quiet there are always plenty of chairs, beds and umbrellas available. If you book Preferred, the beds are free and come with bar and food service. There is entertainment every night of some kind, either in the lobby bar or in the theater by the lobby but I have to say we didn't partake in the shows. This is one thing the resort could do a bit better in terms of advertising and sharing what the shows actually were and what time. The app was very vague so we didn't go. This Dreams and Secrets both sit in the Playa Mujeres community....which is gated and has 24 hour security...it's also a good 20 minutes north from downtown Cancun and totally feels like you're in the jungle as you drive through it. If. you're looking for a secure and private feeling place, this is it. Great stay and we will likely go back though next time we might try the Secrets resort just for comparison.
Dreams Play Mujeres was an excellent all-inclusive resort located on the Gulf north of Cancun. It is a very secure resort located with a community with manned entrances. The resort is definitely a family-oriented resort, but we felt very comfortable there as a couple. Our room, a Preferred Club Junior Suite had a oceanview. The room was spacious and well-appointed. We especially enjoyed the Private Terrace with a Whirlpool bath, day bed and table and chairs. The resort has six specialty restaurants which were all excellent as well as the the buffet and a number of casual eateries. We can't say enough about all of the staff who provided excellent service and were like friends by the end of our stay. We would definitely enjoy a return trip.
We had a great overall experience. The resort offers plenty of pools, so there was something for everyone, whether you wanted a lively atmosphere or a more relaxing spot to unwind. The multiple swim-up bars were a nice touch and made it easy to enjoy refreshments without leaving the pool. The pool entertainment team was outstanding and truly helped create a fun, energetic atmosphere throughout the day. Their enthusiasm and engagement with guests were some of the highlights of our stay. The beach was another standout feature of the resort. It was well-maintained, clean, and provided a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the ocean. We were also impressed by the availability of Bali beds both around the pools and near the beach, making it easy to find a comfortable spot to spend the day without having to reserve one hours in advance. The evening shows were generally good, although most were just average. The exception was the magic show, which was absolutely fantastic and well worth attending. One thing to be aware of is that vendor booths are set up several nights each week. Some guests may enjoy browsing them, while others may find them a bit intrusive. The rooms were adequate and met our needs. While they weren't particularly luxurious, they were clean and comfortable, and the beds provided a good night's sleep. Overall, the resort offered a fun and enjoyable vacation experience, especially thanks to the excellent pool areas, beautiful beach, abundant Bali beds, and outstanding entertainment staff.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay at Dreams. The friendliness of the staff was truly exceptional. The facilities were incredible. Special shout out to Super Mario the best bartender in Playa Mujeres! Everyday Mario made us his special cocktail at the preferred club bar. We will come back just to hangout with Mario again!
The staff were rude and would ignore us at the pool bars. The Preferred club didn't have a great variety of snacks. The housekeeping was good. The pools were warm, the entertainment staff were not very enthusiastic or engaging. There was someone who pooped in the pool two days in a row and they had to close the pools early, disgusting. I would ask for a margarita made with 1800 tequila which was visible and the bar tenders would act like they couldn't hear me and would make it well. Overall the staff never went about and beyond like I've been used to at other Dreams locations.
