The resort itself is beautiful and very well maintained. The grounds are lovely, the pools are nice, and we really appreciated the coffee shop and the specialty restaurants. The food at the specialty restaurants was very good, and the service there was generally much better than what we experienced in other areas of the resort. Unfortunately, our overall experience was significantly affected by the customer service. I have stayed at many resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, and usually one of the things that stands out is how warm, friendly, and accommodating the staff are. Sadly, that was not our experience here. Even before our arrival, I personally tried repeatedly to contact the resort regarding our reservation. I called many times over several days and could not get anyone to answer the phone. That was already concerning before we arrived, and unfortunately the same lack of responsiveness continued during our stay. One of the biggest issues happened when the safe in our room stopped working. We called several times and were told each time that someone would come right away to fix it. No one ever came. Eventually, we simply gave up. For the last two days of our stay, we had to carry our passports and other valuables with us to the pool and restaurants because we did not have a secure place to leave them. We even kept the Do Not Disturb sign on our door because we were uncomfortable leaving our belongings unsecured in the room. For a resort of this level, that should not happen. The service at the main buffet restaurant was also a major disappointment. In particular, our interactions with Esmeralda and Diana were extremely unpleasant and came across as rude and unprofessional. More generally, many of the staff in that area did not seem welcoming or happy to assist guests. There was a noticeable lack of warmth and friendliness compared with other resorts we have visited. That said, I absolutely want to recognize the staff members who stood out in a very positive way. Melissa at the front desk/check-in was wonderful. She was sweet, welcoming, helpful, and genuinely made us feel taken care of. We truly appreciated her kindness. There was also an older gentleman working as a waiter in the buffet area who was absolutely wonderful. I believe his name may was Victor. He was extremely accommodating, friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. In an area where we unfortunately experienced some of the poorest service, he really stood out and deserves recognition. Another disappointment was the buffet food. We stayed for five days, and the selection was extremely repetitive. It felt as though the same dishes were placed in the same locations every single day with very little change or variety. After several days, we became so tired of it that for breakfast we often skipped the buffet and went to the coffee shop for a croissant and coffee instead. Overall, this property has a lot of potential. It is beautiful, the grounds are well kept, the pools are enjoyable, the coffee shop is a great addition, and the specialty restaurants were one of the highlights of our stay. There are also some excellent employees, especially Melissa and the gentleman working in the buffet who truly went above and beyond. However, customer service, responsiveness, staff training, and the variety of the main buffet need significant improvement. A beautiful resort can only do so much when guests repeatedly cannot reach anyone, maintenance concerns are ignored, and some interactions with staff leave guests feeling unwelcome. With better management and stronger customer-service training, this could be a much better experience.
