Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa

We had the most wonderful vacation this past week! The weather and resort were beautiful and amazing! We enjoyed the food, drinks, spa, animals, staff, activities and music! They changed the food management group when they remodeled and everyone there agreed , this was an excellent change that we throughly enjoyed. Can’t say enough about the staff at all locations , the restaurants , bars ( Manuel , Jose, and Cali), spa, coffee shops, sports bar, and pool activities ( Danny Boy and Daniel) , and a Pedro at the pool , they were always smiling and eager to provide a great time for all. Have seen some discouraging reviews , after spending a week there , not sure what there is to complain about unless you are just naturally complainer. Highly recommend for the value , way more to do and eat than at other resorts that cost more

Lack of Consistency Throughout the Resort The room itself was a disappointment. It smelled dank and fusty and felt very tired and worn, which is a shame because the room size was excellent. We also had brown water coming from the bath in room 1223, a stained ottoman at the foot of the bed, and the coffee machine had to be replaced twice due to faults — the third one still leaked. Coffee pods were also not replenished consistently. Bathroom amenities consisted only of shower gel and shampoo in wall-mounted dispensers, which felt very cheap for what is marketed as a 5-star hotel and came across as another cost-cutting exercise. Overall, the rooms were comfortable enough, but more in line with a 3-star standard. The hallways were also disappointing, with dirty floors and debris regularly left around. The restaurants lacked consistency from the moment you arrived. Sometimes you were greeted and seated, other times you were left to find your own table, which was difficult as many tables sat uncleared and unset for long periods. If you have food allergies, be especially cautious. Staff were extremely inconsistent with checking allergy requirements and, on occasions, appeared to ignore what had been explained. The pool areas themselves were lovely, and the pool staff worked incredibly hard and were very friendly, although clearly overstretched. However, guests should be aware there are snakes around the resort — one swam past our legs while we were in the pool. Staff seemed largely unconcerned when this was reported. If you like a beach holiday it’s not the place for you as the smell of seaweed and seaweed left on the beach is vast , sadly this is natural and can’t be helped. At the Bazaar restaurant, guests were left waiting outside in the heat while staff held a meeting inside, despite being asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Elderly guests and people using walking sticks were also left standing. The steak restaurant was another poor experience. Again, there was a long wait outside before seating. The meat quality was awful, with blood soaking into the mashed potatoes. When this was raised, staff simply responded that “that’s how it comes.” It was by far the weakest restaurant in the resort, with rushed service and soulless décor. The Italian restaurant, however, was excellent — easily our favourite. The food and service there were consistently very good. The buffet food tasted good overall, but after two weeks became repetitive and was often lukewarm. Vegetables from the grill were occasionally undercooked as well. Entertainment was excellent and was genuinely one of the best aspects of the hotel. There were plenty of bars throughout the resort too. However, the lack of straws felt more like cost-cutting disguised as environmental concern. The buggy service around the resort was another example of inconsistency. Some drivers were lovely, while others were rude and constantly rushing guests. You also apparently cannot simply hop on — journeys need to be booked, although this seemed to depend on who you asked. Concierge service was equally inconsistent. Different staff members gave completely different advice. We were initially told restaurant bookings for the second week could not be made until a certain date, only to later be told by another staff member that we should have booked immediately — by which time everything was fully booked. If you are locked out of your room, you are sent to reception anyway, which raises the question of what the purpose is of having concierge desks in each block if they cannot assist. Again, some concierge staff were excellent, while others acted as though guests were an inconvenience interrupting their personal phone calls (Pierre being a particular example). For a resort of this size, a proper app or digital booking system for restaurants and guest services would make far more sense and be significantly more convenient. Making complaints at the front desk was also extremely difficult. A WhatsApp service or guest support messaging system would make resolving issues much easier for both guests and management, who often seemed unaware of ongoing problems. Speaking to a manager felt almost impossible. Overall, while there are aspects of the resort that are very good — particularly the entertainment, pool areas, and Italian restaurant — the poor room standard and complete lack of consistency across almost every department let the hotel down badly. I personally would not return, although others may still manage to have a pleasant holiday depending on what matters most to them.

We went to the bucher restaurant and it was amazing food was great , our server Daniel was outstanding!

Had a lovely meal tonight at the Butchers grill restaurant. Special mention to Daniel and Mauro for their excellent service which made the night for us . Thank you guys .

Ramon from La Verbena was absolutely amazing! Every evening that we were served by him he couldn’t do enough for us and was so kind and attentive. Always smiling and pulling out our chairs. Such a gentleman! Would highly recommend to get a table in Ramon’s area so you get the pleasure of his service :)
