Iberostar Selection Cancun

Stayed at the adults only resort on the property, Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun, and walked over to this resort a few times during our stay. Huge pool. Beautiful beach. LOTS of kids activities. Beach is handicapped accessible too. Go to the 9th floor and take some pictures from the windows facing the beach and lagoon. Great family friendly resort. Perfect for a family getaway or a destination wedding.

The resort itself is beautiful, surrounded by jungle and beach, and the employees were very friendly. However, entertainment and the food was disappointing. My kids had a hard time finding things they actually wanted to eat, and they are not picky at all. Mexico has also become extremely expensive compared to the last time I visited. It honestly feels like tourists are treated like walking ATMs. For example, I paid $62 USD for just one sunscreen and one bug spray at the resort, which is absurd. I love Mexico, but at this price point, it’s not worth it. Destinations like Jamaica, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico are just as beautiful and far more enjoyable for the cost.

We researched and researched and even had the help of the best Travel Agent, Tari Travels and eventually picked Iberostar Cancun Selection to have our wedding. We are a blended family with five children traveling from Wisconsin. Our wedding at Iberostar was unbelievable! We cannot say enough about Janet, who was our wedding Sales Director. Her professionalism, support and ability to solve any issues that arose exceeded our expectations. Whenever we needed something, she intuitively stepped in and supported us without us even asking. She made sure the wedding set up.and choreography What exactly what we envisioned for our special day. Our children and the adults on the trip all had the best time. The service, food, wedding vendors and amenities during our stay as well as the amazing pools and beach made sure that the adults and the children on the trip had a truly memorable experience. There was even a rainbow over the ocean during the wedding. Thank you Iberostar, Janet and Tari Travels!!!

Staying at the hotel for 3 nights, booked at ihg site. It showed I'll be given 450 points/dollars to use at the hotel. At the time of check-in, got to know i have to attend the dreaded sales song/dance for some vacation package. Dint realize i had bit the bait, i was clearly tricked by the dangling resort credits. I have no complaints about the property, very clean and good amenities. Lots of kids and adult entertainment to enjoy during the stay. Again, want to caution folks with the resort credits/dollars that appear at the time of booking, means you're going to be arm twisted after reaching the resort.

We thankfully upgraded to the Coral Tower which is the VIP side, although still a lot of downfalls. Let me start with the positives, as a Coral member you have access to everything, including the main hotel. The majority of the staff on the Coral side are amazing and helpful. There are a select few that you can tell are just here and don’t want to do anything at all. The main side?! OMG, this is 2026 and if you’re white or light skinned to say it politically correct, they are so rude!! I do not speak Spanish unfortunately so when I tried ordering a drink or food I was met with anger and dirty looks! I ordered a burger from the burger box on 4/29/26 and the woman took my order thankfully because the person next to me told them what I wanted in Spanish, she said okay and walked away and never came back. The other man on the grill never acknowledged anyone standing there waiting to order…turned to me with an attitude asking me what I wanted in Spanish. I used my translator and he was angry and annoyed and basically just threw the most subpar burger at me. I’m a big traveler and this was my first and last time staying at an iberoster. I’m not sure how they are in other countries but I’d never come back to this one, I appreciate and value respect and know it’s not received too well here.
