Ocean Riviera Paradise

I love this resort. I’ve been here twice now and I would come back again. I don’t know why people don’t appreciate the food here because I personally think it’s amazing!! There’s lots of activities here so make sure you’re on the app to find out about them.. William was great!!! he is always playing volleyball in the pool and getting everyone to join in (DO NOT SAY NO ITS SO MUCH FUN😂) and I did bracelet making with him too! I love this place, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. there was one rainy day all day but business still runs as usual and they have umbrellas in the rooms, and the carts get tarps on them so you don’t get soaked, but i’ve been to Mex 5 times and this was my only rainy experience ever

Just got back from 6 days at this resort and I would recommend it for families with kids. Here is my pro and con list: PROS: -Beautiful and clean grounds -Amazing kids entertainment -Beach style pool nice for kids and toddlers -Friendly staff -Very comfortable bed -Shampoo/body wash/lotion provided in rooms -Mikes cafe has a nice ambiance and a good selection of drinks however the line ups can be extremely long -Beautiful and big lobby to hang out CONS: -Sharp pool ground -Slides in kids pool need waxing, my husband was not able to slide down easily with my son and had to literally push himself down with his arms lol. We found the same with kids so it’s not just because of my husband’s weight. -Bell boy didn’t come to pick us up even after calling and waiting for an hour. We ended up walking to the front with our luggage. - Reservation system for restaurants is annoying because you have to be up at 8:30am to make a reservation for that same date. -The pillows in the rooms are extremely fluffy and high. If you can’t sleep with high pillows, I suggest you bring your own. -Not enough washrooms at pools. Extra notes: - Food at buffet is typical resort food. Nothing special but also not horrible. -if you go to eat during peak hours, the line ups are long. - I suggest you take sanitizing and cleaning your hands seriously as I ended up getting something on my last day there and was not able to eat or drink anything cuz of how sick I got. - No USB port next to bed. You will need to bring a block to plug in to charge your phone. - Lots of kids at this resort so if you don’t like that vibe, stay away. All in all, I did have a pleasant stay and would return.

Me, my wife and 16 year old daughter stayed for 7 nights during spring break 2026. This resort has a privilege areas and common areas. We were commoners which was fine. There is kids pool, main pool, adult pool, and beachside pool for all to use. The chairs at all the pools are hard to get. If you need shade like I do you need to go claim a chair at 8am roughly. This time varies depending on which pool you want. The main pool is early than 8am if you want shade. I think the bar service at the beachside pool is understaffed as it only has one bartender for walk ups, so there is almost always a minimum 5 minute lineup but can be up to 15 minutes. There is another bartender near the beachside pool bathrooms that people assume is for privilege only but commoners can get drinks as well ( sadly I didn’t realize this until the 4th day here). Restaurants are bit disappointing for commoners. The resort advertises 10 restaurants but on any given night several are closed. 3 restaurants are reservation only, and we were only allowed 1 reservation per week so we went with the steakhouse and it was good. For dinner the commoners options are buffet, Mexican restaurant, bbq diner (my personal fave) or a romantic Italian place that we couldn’t try as it is adult only. We found the buffet to be decent but nothing special and the service to be slow due to understaffing. Another weird side note is the buffet seems to be short of spoons. Whether it is breakfast or dinner there are usually none on the table. Each setting has 2 knives and two forks, but no spoons. Would always have to ask for a spoon. For coffee I just used my fork as stir stick. I think there could be a worker with a spoon fetish who is stockpiling. The room we got was a standard room with a king bed and a sofa bed for are daughter. It was good, and spacious with a nice balcony that we used. Housekeeping was very good as well. All in all we had a good trip, but I would try a different chain next time. I have been to Riu resorts and found them to be superior. Hope this helps you make a resort decision.
