Riu Caribe

We had originally booked the Cancun but changed to the Caribe and are so glad we did. This hotel is really nice. We had a lovely high floor room overlooking the beach which is absolutely stunning, Beautiful soft sand and clear turquoise water. We were a little concerned about the party atmosphere but it wasn't anything to worry about. We did go abd have a look but it's tucked away and didn't bother us. The restaurants were very good, the main restaurant was buffet style. The breakfast and lunch were very good but the evening meals could have been better. The daytime entertainment was brilliant. Whilst we were there a mariachi band came and played, they were fabulous.

the hotel is wonderful, the rooms are nice, the pool and beach are lovely, the parties were fun. The Staff was ok, Antonio at the open buffet wad really the only one who made it feel like a vacation. However, the food was truly the worst part about our trip. the steakhouse was really bad, the other restaurants were either a mess or had empty plates all around. most importantly the open buffet was very limited, not alot of options, and if you're not the first one there, good luck because they don't make more of anything. once its done it's done.

I have been a RIU Class Diamond member for years, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. On my final day at Hotel Riu Caribe, my phone was stolen from my beach bag while I was swimming for approximately 20 minutes between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM. My phone was hidden inside a zipped fanny pack wrapped in clothing, placed inside my beach bag, which was covered with a towel with wet sun protective clothing on top of it. When I returned to my chair, my belongings had clearly been searched. Items were scattered into the sand, the fanny pack had been turned inside out, and the phone was gone. What shocked me was that this happened while hotel staff were visibly present nearby. A lifeguard had been standing close to my chair for much of the time I was in the water, and security personnel were overlooking the beach area. The visible security presence naturally creates the impression that guests and their belongings are being monitored to some degree. Later, my phone tracker showed the device in downtown Cancún near Plaza de la Tecnología. I immediately tried to report the incident. I first approached the nearby security guard, but she did not speak English and did not understand me. The lifeguard directed me to reception, where staff checked lost and found and told me the police would likely not be able to help unless someone was caught with the stolen phone. What disappointed me most was the response afterward from RIU Customer Care. During several email exchanges, RIU repeatedly emphasized that the beach is public property and that guests are responsible for their belongings. However, my concern was never simply about responsibility for the stolen phone itself. My concern is that guests are not clearly informed that thefts can occur despite the visible security presence. International travelers arrive assuming that visible guards and staff presence provide at least some deterrence or monitoring. Had I was informed about the actual level of risk, I would never have taken my phone to the beach, even hidden inside my belongings. Though, hotel does not quarantee security of your luggage left in the lobby either. What also concerned me was that RIU Customer Care avoided directly answering my questions about how theft incidents reported by guests are documented internally and whether guest complaints lead to any review or preventive measures. To be fair, there were positive aspects of the hotel itself. The property is attractive, clean, modern, many employees were friendly, and there were enjoyable parts of the vacation. However, the handling of this incident significantly damaged my confidence in RIU’s commitment to guest communication and customer care.

Very clean hotel and staff friendly and efficient. Location in hotel zone much better than many other hotels. Food in main restaurants good and choice of restaurants excellent. However, outside of main meal times only fast food available. Also, choice of wines and beers poor. The main lounge is not air conditioned so quite uncomfortable in the evening. The hotel is better suited to younger clients clients but entertainment quite poor ( no proper shows in the evening and we were there for 11 nights, compared with better entertainment provided at 2 Riu hotels we’ve stayed in at Agadir and the Dominican) When we arrived we asked for room with 2 beds and nothing available so we had to change rooms the following day - the replacement room still didn’t have 2 beds so we asked for a third change! - thankfully that was a good room for us.

Absolutely amazing. The best hotel we have ever stayed in!! Will definitely be back next year. Mexico and this hotel have definitely stole my heart. Food buffet and restaurants amazing, staff amazing, parties amazing. Completely everything - not one bad word to say about this place. The cleanliness of the hotel through out - immaculate. You could never possibly be bored, there was always something to do. The views from our balcony were immense. The fridge was always stocked up same with the mini bar the minute it ran out!!!Thank you so much for a great trip. We were gutted to be leaving❤️
