Riu Caribe

AMAZING SERVICE, each and every employee I interacted with (spa, dining, beverage, entertainment) was spectacular. PAY THEM MORE!!! I do not know how much they are making, whatever it is, double it! Our experience here was out of this world and it was all thanks to the wonderful staff. And PLEASE let the steakhouse staff wear short sleeve uniforms, it’s hot out here!

If you want to have a lot of fun -that’s the hotel. There were a lot of parties during the day and evening. The entertainment staff is the best. The rooms are very clean and nice. The food is good too- just they should improve the sea food a bit. The beach is one of the best in Cancun. It’s full of palm trees and with enough shade. There were not any seaweeds at that time. The water was crystal clear too.

Five stars for the beach and the professional evening shows! Good service and clean amenities throughout. The beach is beautiful with clear, clean water. We took a walk down the coast and you can easily see the difference between this beach and the neighboring properties; ours was definitely the best kept. Little saragassum. The staff does an amazing job removing it right away, making it look much better than the beaches next door. Food is good, reliable all-inclusive fare. The activities and the Riu Party are a blast, but the nightly entertainment really stands out. The shows feature true professionals—not resort staff pulling double duty. The sound, choreography, lighting, and performance quality are outstanding. Will recommend it and will be back again!

I accidentally booked a reservation with a baby rather than a 15 year old and RIU wanted $1200 more to add my child that doesn't drink for our 5 night stay. Nevermind that the price was the same with a 1 year old, 15 year old or 3 adults when I booked it. So, I offered to go home and have my wife and child to stay as the two adults and they wouldn't do that because there was no baby now. They even told us to call Booking.com and ask them to pay the extra $1200! And they were very rude about it. We ended up at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is rated higher than the Caribe, for only $300 more than we originally paid Riu. And this was despite it being a same day booking. So, even with the $400 cancellation fee Riu charged us, it was $500 less (for the nicer Hard Rock Hotel) than if we had paid the $1200 extortion fee Riu wanted to charge us. We used to love Riu and have stayed at 5 of them....not anymore. They would rather be jerks and make $400 instead of the entire booking amount because our room sat empty and was not rebooked as we didn't cancel the reservation until the day we left.

We have had a wonderful time in Riu Caribe, staying 7 nights, completely satisfied with all services provided by the resort. Rooms are nice and comfortable, very clean, and fresh towels were changed daily. The food is very repetitive, however fresh and tasty. We are early birds, and we're watching how the pool, pool area, and the beach were clean every morning. The staff are working hard to provide the best service. The beach was perfect during our stay. However, the last day after storm were allot of seagrass.
